It doesn't necessarily need to be hosted directly in Flash/Silverlight (although this would be sweet) but I cannot use Google Adsense because:a) by default Google Adsense requires ads to be opened in the same browser window which involves navigating away from the page with the application. Since the application is relatively self-contained entity (a kind of an image editor) closing it is not acceptable behaviour. Altering this behaviour in Google Adsense will breach its Terms and Conditions.b) Pages are not reloaded often. Once the user starts using Flash/Silverlight application she/he will stay on the same page for a relatively long period of time. It would be nice if an advertising component be able to automatically reload its content every few minutes.
View 1 RepliesI'm an application developer, and my standard usage of Flash is as follows: I'm creating an executable application, which contains a ShockwaveFlash object instance, which in turn is displaying a Flash Movie Clip - also created by myself. The executable application and the contained Flash clip are communicating via the ActionScript ExternalInterface (using XML strings) and the FSCommand.
I'd like to be able to debug the ActionScript code of the Flash file while I'm running/debugging my executable application. For that, I need to be able to start a remote debugging session from the Flash object running inside my executable. Problem is, I did not find any way of doing this.
When I publish the Flash SWF file with "permit debugging" checked, I'm able to start a remote debugging session when I'm displaying the file in a player or a browser (the "debugging" option is shown at the right-click menu of the Flash object), but I'm not able to do the same with the object inside my executable (the "debugging" option doesn't exist on the menu).
Environment Details: The executable application is using the ShockwaveFlash COM file to create the ShockwaveFlash object. The executable application is created using VB.NET, Visual Studio 2008, .NET 3.5. The Flash SWF file is created using Adobe Flash Professional CS4. I'm developing under Windows XP (SP3).
I need to disable all the aspects of functionality which access the client file system in a flash/flex application. I started having a look on how to do this. It appears that the package flash.filesystem need to be importated to allow the interaction with the file system. However, I did not find any reference to this package in the application. I am a beginner concerning these technologies so maybe I am missing a point here. Do I need to look into an other direction?

We're interested in putting one of our flash applications on the server back-end so that it can run as a module on the server machine (not on the client!). I know flash wasnt designed for this at all, so my question is:
1) Can I run Flash from the command prompt and pass parameters to it?
2) Can I detect when the Flash has finished running, or a way to communicate with the command prompt from Flash (to inform it once the operations has finished).
3) Can I close the flash application from the command prompt?

View 1 RepliesI just updated my AIR runtime to 3.0 and noticed that my AIR application doesn't work anymore. So I tried to debug it it with Flash Builder, but when I run it there, everything works just fine. So I uninstalled the AIR runtime completely but noticed that I can execute my AIR app within Flash Builder still just fine. So the AIR runtime used within Flash Builder seems to be a different one than the systemwide installed AIR runtime. How Do I chose within Flash Builder which runtime to use and how do I update this runtime?

View 1 RepliesI've been trying to launch a separate Air Application through my current Air Application.Both apps are compiled using the Adobe Air 2.0 SDK. The methods I have found so far involve passing the Publisher ID in addition to the Application ID, but I believe the Publisher ID became redundant past Air 1.5.3? Below is my current implementation whic seems to correctly ascertain the Air Application's version number, but when I try to launch it, nothing seems to happen.

I have changed the app-config.xml (app descriptor) on the application I am trying to load to allow browser invocation.The version number of the app descriptor of my application I am trying to load is "V1" which the versionDetectCallback seems to pickup. If this is the case I would expect to be able to launch it but this doesn't seem the case.
What is the best way to get the current, "real" frames-per-second of a running Flash movie using Actionscript 2? By "best", I mean it should be accurate over a period of time (i.e. it does some averaging) and with a minimal built-in performance overhead.

Unfortunately, the KeyboardEvent is not caught when running the app under IE since it is conflicting with the IE native shortcut (closing the active tab). Now the problem, when the socket-server isn't running i get an IOError in Flash what seams alright. Now when i start the server and try to connect again, i don't get an error, but the socket-server doesn't receive a connection either?!

I know that sounds complicated so let me further explain. I currently dj with an application and would like to create another application with flash that allows users to play some custom sounds (drops) while running the primary dj application. I believe someone out there already has created an application via flash that does this (have to read up on it more). But from the research I did do there is no way to interface with the flash application unless you alt-tab to it. I'm looking for a really really small linux distribution or process of making my own that's sole purpose is to get an air application to launch full screen and stay there; Essentially I'm building a home kitchen computer that runs entirely as an AIR app.
I have looked into using windows xp; and windows xp embedded but they pose so many issues I figured I'd try modern linux.
I have also seen TinyCore Linux which looks interestingly small but not sure what issues that poses in regards to running AIR and "hardware" accelerated display. I've also thought about stripping down an Ubuntu installation but I'm sure somebody must have done this already; google is just failing me right now.

The addition to this is that products will be scrolling right to left automatically if there is no interaction from user, and product at the center will remain highlighted.
I have created a long strip of Products cover with a mask, the long strip keeps moving to give a scrolling effect.
I'm trying to create a drag motion by using mouse_down then the mc = mouseX. Here is an image of the situation
But when I click, the mc always jumps to its registration point, which is the top left corner atm.
I can't work my head around how to grab the current location of the mc. Note that the mc (all_mc) is wider than the stage.
