ActionScript 3.0 :: GetDefinitionByName(pictureClass) Then Display The Picture On The Screen?

Aug 3, 2011

I am using pictures for backgrounds in this game that I am making. About 10 pictures for each level. When the user starts a level all of the pictures needed for that level will be loaded into an array.

I can't use URL request because it won't always have access to the picture files at runtime.So I need to have a separate class for each picture. That is all okay. The picture class names are like so Level01_Picture01, Level08_Picture12, Level67_Picture01, ect... and are stored in the folder: theGame. To access them I user getDefinitionByName().This is the function that should return a MovieClip containing the picture specified in the parameters:

[Code]...

Firstly I'd like to ask: what does the @291d3121 mean? More importantly though, is it accessing the class theGame.Level01_Picture01? And if it is, how do I display the picture that belongs to that class?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Bitmap - Adding The Picture To The Screen

Jul 21, 2009

I have an issue with Bitmap object. I have a photo gallery which I read from an XML file. Each photo has a path, id and description. When I'm adding the picture to the screen I am doing as follows:

[Code]...

My problem is that when I click the bitmap added to the container I must know what picture this is by getting an id. This way I know what gallery I am to open. A bitmap object does not have this property to be set (id and path). I have decided to create a class which extends Bitmap and then add these attributes within this class. So instead of using a bitmap I would use something like:

Picture Shideshow Won't Display

Sep 28, 2009

I've been stuck on this one a while. I've created a simple picture slide show whiich works fine on Dreamweaver. However, when I throw it onto the server it doesn't display on the website. I've checked everything and i'm pretty sure all is in order so i'm baffled as to what I'm missing. It's probably something simple that I simply don't know. The Flash file is a .swf. It's saved in the root folder. It works fine when off-line. When online nothing appears (area where the the Flash file should be remains clear).

ActionScript 2.0 :: Background Over Browser Screen - Picture Crapped On Bottom

Feb 12, 2009

I have a baground in my swf. I want the background over the browser screen.
Code:

}if (mc._width==0 || mc._height == 0) return;
var imagein:Number = mc._width/mc._height;
var stagein:Number = Stage.width/Stage.height;
if (stageRatio>=imagein) {

In the code are other things ( Stage.scaleMode = "NoScale" , listener an etc.) I have a problem, the picture is big. I publish the fla to html and I looked in it... in the browser the bottom of the picture cropped. Is there a possibility that the browser show me the rest of the background with a scrollbar. I have recently followed a tutorial on how to create a simple loading screen, on completion of this i realised it was teaching me how to create a loading screen for a flash movie. How I would change my Action script so at the end of the movie it would display my website?

My current action script is as follows..
First frame:
Code:
bytes_loaded = Math.round(this.getBytesLoaded());
bytes_total = Math.round(this.getBytesTotal());
getPercent = bytes_loaded/bytes_total;
this.loadBar._width = getPercent*100;
this.loadText = Math.round(getPercent*100)+"%";
if (bytes_loaded == bytes_total) {
this.gotoAndPlay(3);
}

Second frame:
Code:
this.gotoAndPlay(1);

ActionScript 3.0 :: Object Does Not Show On Screen Once Re-added To Display List?

Nov 3, 2011

I have an object that is instantiated, then placed into a property within a singleton (single instance) object. When a button is clicked an event is dispatched carrying a payload that references the display object that is held within the Singleton. When the event is heard, my view object adds the object to the display list e.g. addChild().The Item shows. Now If I hit another button an event is dispatched, and a new item is added to the display list via the method above and is seen. The 1st object is removed from the display list Here is my problem. When I click the button to load the 1st Object the above process is executed again but the object does not show.

I can run trace statements from the object that is supposed to be visible and they run fine. I even do a check to see if the visible property is set to true, and it is, but not object is on my screen. Code for this process.

//custom event carries the name of the page aka display object. this is a string
dispatchEvent(new MenuEvent(MenuEvent.CHANGE_VIEW_STATE, event.payload));
//When the event is heard, the following condinial is run

Professional :: Compensate For Display Objects Jumping When Screen Scaling

Nov 28, 2011

I am building an application that is to run at 2 difference stage sizes. 960x640 and 1024x768 (for those paying attention, you may note that those are the high res settings for the iPhone and iPad2)The app was designed and build to run on a stage of 960x640 and when running at this size, there are no problems.When the app loads in the 1024x768 window, it "strechs" the stage to fill the window, but keeps the aspect ratio. Everything looks good and the application runs without any problems expect for one thing.Sometimes, display objects on the stage "jitter" when moving or animating. I have discovered that this is because the stage is "scaling" the x and y values, and is not pixel snapping the objects on the screen, even though the x and y values of the display object are indeed whole numbers.A prime example of this is I have 2 bitmapData images. bmData_s and bmData_h. bmData_s is 192x388 in size.bmData_h is created from a copy of bmData_s with a glow filter stroke on it, resulting in a image that is 198x394 (6 pixels bigger due to a 3 pixel stroke)I place it on the screen using the following code:[code]

Now, when the app runs on the iPhone which is a 960x640 screen size, or on the PC which is using a window of similiar size, the image doesn't appear to move at all the "stroke" appears and disappears exactly as it is suppose to However, when I run it in a window that is 1024x768, the _h image appears to "jump" one pixel up.I have encountered many other similiar things that only occure when the stage is scaled. There is a spot in the app where I am animating a bitmap by manipulating it's scrollrect x and width (have it's do a wipe in from right to left like a peice of paper unrolling on a table) and due to the scaling, the right edge of the image jumps left and right 1 pixel but on 960x640 screens, it looks perfect.Does anyone know how I can compensate for this effect so that this jumping doesn't occur when the stage is stretched to fit the window it's running in?
