Does anyone know how to insert flashxml component to pages created by gaia framework? When I insert it, it show:

ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable MultiRow3DGallery is not defined.
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable MyWorksPage is not defined.
Which framework is the best one to execute Website projects? I was researching around Flash website blogs and articles talking about the great advantage at daily production with these frameworks.In my case i'm used to get basic/intermediate projects that consists in Animations, Transitions between swf pages and at the most important point: liquid layouts.Gaia Framework seems to help a lot at organization and singular work time reduction spent.

View 3 RepliesI'm a total noob to Flash, and I'm learning it because I want to make a website design that looks like this.
That's coming from a separate external .fla file not inside my Gaia project. I currently have a Gaia 3.2.6/FP10/AS3 project with Timeline animation that I just made up today.The problem is that when I copy and paste those graphic symbols (not the background), into the 1st frame of my home.swf of my Gaia project, the preloader freezes at 50% on the home page.
When I remove the forms from my seperate external .fla file, then copy and paste them into the 1st frame of my Gaia project, the preloader freezes at 100%.When I draw a square onto the first frame of home.swf, the page loads normally.
How can I set custom path to prealod.swf in gaia framework? I need this because the index.html file generated by gaia and all the swfs are located in different directories. I have set full path to all the swf files but preload.swf because I can't find the appropriate parameter anywhere. Now I get 404 error message for preload.swf in consolo.

Originally, this flex component can be loaded as a standalone flex application with parameters to connect to the appropriate server. But now a customer of mine wants to integrate this flex component (originally inserted in a flex application) in a custom flash application, thus in .fla file using Adobe Flash CS4.
I've seen that it was possible to integrate a flash animation created with Adobe Flash CS4 in a flex application. But what I need to do is the opposite.
i'm working on a game project and i got some trouble with displaying stuff in the game Launcher. everything is in AS3. I'm actually looking to achieve almost the same results as the World of Warcraft launcher with a news section. the way i think to work it is that i create either a textArea component or a textfield and display html page in it. This html page could contain text, image and flash SWF.
but here's the problem, textField and textArea component are very limited in displaying and formating HTML pages. So i don't know if i should continue to search and try developping this way or find another way for displaying dynamic stuff that can be easily updated.
I'm working through Dreamweaver fairly well, and I'm now wanted to import Flash buttons I've created myself into Dreamweaver for a website I'm currently building, and it's here that I'm finding the problem. I have been to the 'get URL Function', but it says something about needing to link to a web page? But my problem is how can I link Flash Buttons to a web page, when my site is still being developed and not published? Do I have to publish first?

I used Gaia framework to build a self-scrolling slideshow. There are only 4 pages in all, but I have realized to my dismay that each of these pages are requested over and over from the server. If you leave the page open and the animation goes by itself, that can clobber our server.
What can I do to prevent this? I wonder if there is a way of writing a URLRequest so the pragma header can tell the browser to use the swf from its cache rather than requesting it again?
Note that I am not using SWFaddress so the requests are going to the same URI.
I am building a portfolio site, and I want my content to occupy all the browser window. [URL] I know GAIA have the ability to do this but I don't know how to use it, and the more I look to it, the more I think it will be overkill to use on my project. I want my background to occupy 100% of the browser window and have the content to be centered. Is there a much simpler way to do that without having to do it in a framework?

View 0 RepliesI've always just developed my projects in as3 instead of mxml and I usually just setup my application to run a main actionscript file as my main doc root, sort of like how you do it in flash but in flash builder I do something like this:[code] how can I call place a call to that function hitme() within the call_from_outside() function between the <fx:Script> tags?The reason why I'm doing this is because I have some flash swfs that I load into another swf file and I can access the top level public functions of those flash swfs, however the top level of the flash builder/flex swfs is the main mxml file not my fake as3 class root. Of course I should think there is a way for me to access the as3 class methods of the mxml component but for keeping things with the same structure, I can bypass having to modify my loader scripts.
View 1 RepliesI created a movie clip symbol with a user interface in it, using the standard components. It contains various components that I draged on the stage. I named the instances (e.g titleLabel). Then I created an ActionScript class for that user interface. Under the linkage properties of the symbol I specified that class. In the class itself, i declared the attribute "var titleLabel:Label". I thought this would be the same instance from the symbol? But: Trying to set the text of the Label AFTER the movie was dynamically added to the parent does not work. I cannot access any properties.

View 2 RepliesI have a several chart components that I have created in Flex. Basically I have set up a special UI that allows the user to select which of these charts they want to print. When they press the print button each of the selected charts is created dynamically then added to a container. Then I send this container off to FlexPrintJob.
i.e.

I have seen some examples on the adobe site that add the container to the application but don't include it in the layout. This looks like the way to go.

I would like to know how to track my pages with google analytics to see which pages are getting the most clicks. My site is XML / Flash the menu is xml. Could I put the tracking code on each of the menu items in the xml file?
View 7 RepliesI'm running into some issues using EventSoundTrigger in Pushbutton Engine I am able to make it work using xml like this:

But if I try to write actionscript to do the same I throughs errors. I can't find any examples online to explain how to initialize or use EventSoundTrigger directly in ActionScript. The following throws an error that the sound object is null when the component is created. I figured it out here's the answer:

I'm trying out a page-flip program that tells me to create the pages as jpegs within a folder named "pages" in the Library. When I try to run it, it tells me it can't find the jpegs. I can get it to work locally by including the full URL (i.e., "...My Documentsedinnerpartiesimagesp3-large.jpg), but I know this isn't embedded in the swf file.

1) Is it better to pre=render things say in photoshop or have flash render them?
2) if I have a field of stars that drift along; is it better to create that Star Field in photoshop as a single picture (say a .png) or to create a star in my library and add it to a movie clip and then have that drift along?
Lets say I have a blur effect on my stars and have an equivalent on the photoshop.
3) I have heard (and experienced) adding effects like blur takes a fair amount of CPU and memory so was wondering if I created the effect in photoshop and then imported the 'blurred' object into my flash if I could cut down on system resources?
I have a component "child" which has a cancel button. Now this component is placed in a state called "newChildComp" I also have another component called "parent". In the parent component, i have a button that dispatches an event. Here is the event code:

so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?
When an instance variable is constructed by a constructor method, why do you need to refer to the current instance variable being created when its the only one being created? I understand assigning an expression to it but why name it "this." when it is the only object that the constructor is building? Does it have some hing to do with being able to naming that object in the Local Variable? In other words am I creating a generic object that will be named in another class?
