ActionScript 3.0 :: Ioerror When Running Local But Not When Live / During Php Call From Flash

UrL...in the example each button attempts to contact a php script and the result is displayed in flash.if the php file is not available on the server (ie: server could be down or the file doesn't exist) shouldnt an ioerror be thrown.The frustrating thing is the ioerror gets thrown if you are using DATAFORMAT.TEXT but not when you are using DATAFORMAT.VARIABLES (i didnt try BINARY)Shouldn't an ioerror be thrown regardless of which DATAFORMAT type you are using?That's what happens when you run the file locally. Why doesn't this happen when it's deployed on a server?The error that gets thrown on the server (and you will see if you are running the debugger version of flash player) is the 2101 error:Error: Error #2101: The String passed to URLVariables.decode() must be a URL-encoded query string containing name/value pairs.This makes (some) sense cause is seems the loader in flash is getting a response (from a file that is not on the server) but the response is not in a valid format.
Checking the httpStatus is of no help either as it is 0 in all cases whether the file exists or not.Does this sound like a bug or is there something I am missing? I'm trying to get my swf to show the url of an attempted file loading operation when it fails (IOError). For some reason (security?) it works fine in the flash debug environment, but it doesn't in the browser.

I am trying to run a local version of a website on my computer for development. I have mamp installed along with the mysql database. I am able to go to http://localhost:8888/.... to get to the local copy of the website and everything works greatThe problem comes up when I try to watch a flash video. The flash video player was custom made by the development team before me and I have no experience in flash. figuring out how to get flash to run of my computer locally.I have tried changing the global settings(but maybe I did this incorrectly).

I found many helpful guides to work with Flash and XML. But everytime I look for ways of sending back to XML changes produced in Flash, the tutorial always assume that we are using a server. Is there a way for having a Flash projector that everytime it starts 1-checks for data to load to the projector 2- lets us do changes to data (add, change and remove xml data) 3- and in the end we can save the changes made to the XML file that was initially loaded?

I am creating a local app that is going to be a swf file. Is there anyway to check if the user has internet while they are using my app. I tried this, it works great if testing the movie from flash, however, It does not work when running the swf file independently. I'm guessing this is because it is strictly intended for air app.[code]...

When my PNG encoded data is sent to my uploader php file its throwing an error the very first time and only after I havent done it in a while... half an hour maybe... it says this:

Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: http://apps.mydomain.com/jpg_encoder_download.php?name=mytest10.png
Then when I press the button a second time it goes through fine. If I close and re-test the movie its fine the only way to reproduce it is to wait a while and try it for the first time. Any clues whats causing this?

With the Flash Media Streaming Server (not the interactive version), is it possible to detect if a live stream is running? I want to show an overview of several live streams on one page. The ones that are not running should show as "offline". The others should show an online thumbnail. I don't want the visitors to have to go to all of the pages only to see that the stream is offline.

I have a project that was already supposed to be launched. It tested fine on my computer, but is throwing an error on other browsers....and I cannot figure out how to catch the error! I have been reading and trying everything, but nothing is working!!!
I captioned a video using components, but the captions are stored in the video and the source then is "0". Flash doesn't understand "0", but the captions still work. I need Flash to ignore the error so it stops crashing the browsers!

I am trying to create Flash video for usb drives sold to customers with their pictures on it. After the video plays, can I have a link to a local folder, IE: named YOUR_IMAGES on the drive, and have that folder open on their machine when clicked? Or is there to many variables with what what the drive letter name that will be assigned on customers machines? So there will be the same .SWF on every drive sold, then a folder named the same thing with the customer pics on it.

We are using flex for same. (Although I know flex is meant for web application and air application is best suited for desktop clients, but due to some build issues we can't go for air applications). Now according to our use case we required to read file from local file system which is not allowed in flex application due to sandbox policy. To override it we had planned to use it in local mode (i.e. running from local file system instead of deploying in web container). So after running application in local mode it bypasses sandbox policy and allows to read local file. Eventually we requires remote services call (either using web services or blaze ds) also in our application. To avoid sandbox restriction for network access in local mode we are planning to explicitly grant network access permission to our flex application.

I've got an AS3 FP10 project compiling in FlashBuilder4.It's an Away3D project absed around a *.dae file.It runs perfectly locally in the release/ debug roots and runs fine if I move the release to a network drive etc but when I upload all the release files I get this error:[code]I'm assuming this means that the *.dae file cannot me found, but it does exist at the specified location'assets/maya/world.dae'

I have 3 Flash banners on 1 page that run through a synched animation together. At the end of the animation, there is a replay button in each of the 3 banners. I want the replay button when clicked in any of the banners to call a replay function in all 3 banners. Is there any easy way to do this? Using localconnection?
The banners are already using a local connection for the syching of the animation, if that helps.

I want to create a Flex 3 application running in Adobe Air that accesses an SQLite database and I need to keep this database in sync with an SQL server 2005 database running a website.Is this something that Flex supports or is it going to be a custom script? Also, has anybody done anything like this?
Edit: The synchronisation can be done on a daily basis rather than real time. The data will be read only from a front end perspective with a CMS to do updates on the website.

But I'm getting this security sandbox violation:
#2148: Only local-with-filesystem and trusted local SWF files may access local resources.
I don't get this error when I embed the XML file directly with the EMBED metadata tag.

I created a simple interface for our laptop users to use to call files to change internet settings. Most of the files are batch files but I have one .exe and two registry setting files that change proxy settings. I want buttons that will call each file when clicked. Seems simple but I have been trying to figure this out and I'm getting no where. I'm attaching my flash file. It's a flash cs4 file. Can I not attach the script to each button? For some reason I thought I used to do it this way but when I highlight it it says I cannot attach script to the object.

I have a html page on my c drive (it will not be hosted online, ever) which embeds a swf from a server, with swfObject, allowScripAccess is true. I need that swf to invoke some calls to the html's js funcitons. I get an error stating [code]...
I know i can solve it by going to settings mamager and adding my C to my "trusted sites".... I, however, need a different solution, that does not involve tweeking settings manager. Tried adding a crossdomain to the root of the directory on my comp, with no luck - im assuming for crossdomain to work it must be hosted on a server - and my local directory is not a server, and cannot be one ( no localhost is allowed as per requirement).

I'm developing a game add-on/plugin which replaces a built in feature of an online game. The game loads an .swf therefore, my solution also has to be an swf for it to work 'in-game'.
I would like to be able to have the user press a button in the custom .swf I am making - and this would open an external application (amongst other things). I.e. if there was a button that said Notepad, it would open Notepad.exe on the machine.
My initial thinking was that i could have a XML Socket server 'daemon' runnning (c#) , which i could connect to with flash - however, as both the swf and the daemon are local, flash complained and gave this error: "Error #2010: Local-with-filesystem SWF files are not permitted to use sockets."
The only way i know to fix this - is to change the security settings of flash - not very user friendly!
So! Any thoughts on how I could otherwise go about this? I was thinking a custom http server could do the trick (connected with URLRequest) although i'm not too sure.

I built two flash uploaders using actionscript 3 & actionscript 2 that sends files to a java servlet. The java servlet successfully receives that file, but the flash uploader fires an IOerror #2038 instead of a complete event.
There was another question is my exact same problem, but the answer "clear the cache" was very broad, and the question owner was too lazy to give a detailed description.

Somebody I know can't watch because they have a proxy server.The nc.connect() call to get the live stream fails because it goes direct from AS3 to FMS and doesn't go through the proxy server.

I have a SWF file located at the local network in the public shared folder that I do not control over trying to read the external file on the local network.
I am currently hitting instead an security violation
Error #2148: SWF file file://....mySWF.swf cannot access local resource file://...config.xml"
I've added the network path where SWF an XML file resides to "trusted locations" via Flash Player Global Settings.
The added network path is successfully displayed at the list of "trusted locations" within Global Settings Manager, but it does not look like Flash Player is able to really parse the local network path as a "trusted location"

ScenarioI have a main movie which launches slides dynamically via xml.Within that xml i'm calling a slide which loads another swf called Quiz.That Quiz file loads its questions via xml.IssueWhen I play the outermost swf (the main movie), it starts to load (I can see the border graphic) but throws an XML IOError.
If I just play the quiz swf in the media folder from which the main movie pulls, it works fine. Therefore my assumption is that the xml for the quiz is not loaded before the quiz slide is pulled into the main movie.Directory structure and calls are correct.
