View 1 RepliesI have an animated logo swf file that loads and runs once on the home page every time the page loads. The logo has been updated to appear in three different colour schemes. I want one scheme to load and when the page is refreshed or revisited, one of the other colour schemes to load in its place. They can appear in any random order, just a different one to the one that played before reloading.Can someone point me to an answer or tell me how to do it? I have found a way in JavaScript but this only works on plain images, not swf files.
View 6 RepliesI have added this code to a button in my flash file. When the viewer presses the button a external .swf file will load. The problem is how do I specify where it loads. For example, when the viewer hits the button the external swf file default loads at 0,0. If I want it to load somewhere else on the page is there a way to make it load at a certain specified location? Here is the code I am using on the button.

Now this works fine and the swf file is loaded correctly but it is always at the top left corner. How can I go about loading it in a specific place on the flash file? Is there a way to create a holder that would make it load in that certain area?

I am working on a site with a flash template. The flash loads and goes through the animation cycle no issues. But each time you click the menu and load another page it cycles through the animation again to form the flash document. I would like this to only be on the first default.aspx page and it to be already loaded on the others. I figured it might be passing some sort of parameter in the page to the flash telling it to skip the animated part and just jump to the last frame when not the first default page but how?

View 1 RepliesI'm getting a bald patch on my head from frustration with the following problem. I have a parent AS3 swf which loads in a AS2 swf like so;

contained in the AS2 file is the following script which loads in jpegs when the user clicks the next button, etc.

however when you view the AS2 swf via the AS3 swf it does not seem to load in the jpgs when requested.
I need to retain the AS2 file so cannot rewrite in AS3 as the image loading thing is only a small part of the AS2 file.

As you should be able to see, it seems as though the Flash file on the left is causing the one on the right to reload upon final loading. The one on the right will reload itself once the one on the left finishes loading.
I have tested the flash files by themselves and both load only once when loaded by themselves. It seems as though one is causing the other to re-load which is just mind boggling to me.
I have 25 buttons on a page. Each page loads an external swf. How do i write for each loop that will have the same result, but instead of 25 different pages, it loads the same page with different text. I know the text can be displayed with xml. The xml is not my concern. The for loop is.

So when the button being clicked (the Ethnography button) makes the Ethnography page visible, the page location stays in the same place (aka - the bottom of the page). Is there a quick action script statement that I can add to the EventListener for the button that will tell it to open the new page at the top of the page?

View 2 RepliesI am trying to make what I thought would be a very simple random picture display. I have five movie clips named myClip1, myClip2, etc. All are on the first frame of the timeline. Each has this as a movie clip action:

When I test this the background (an image) displays but nothing else, the movie clips stay transparent. I have tried several variations without any luck.I am mainly an asp and net developer that uses flash periodically so be gentle.
I have been working in Flash CS3 now for a couple of months and action scripts have been a challenge for me. I have created a site that has 4 areas that play a looping swf file of images. I can get this to work no problem with a behavior for rollover, but what I am looking to do is have the 4 swf files automatically play when the page loads.

i am making a full flash site in MX and i need to know how to make a preolader so that it loads the main page (alone)...then loads the next page when the button is clicked on...i want it so that all my pages dont load at once, only if they are clicked on..

I'm preloading the thumbnails and loading the main images only when these are clicked for display, in order to save load time. The problem comes when the user configures say 100 images to be shown in the gallery. In this case the page containing the gallery freezes until all the thumbnails are loaded. My question would be: is there any solution to load the rest of the page first? Or load everything in parallel assigning the page content a higher priority?

It works fine the first time people are on my site but when the page is refreshed or is gone back to sometimes the loader bar is just stuck and doesnt load.
My "train of albums" loads but won't play until I reload the page. I want to keep the bitmaps in memory if the user comes back to the page. bitmaps are 100k jpg's.
The Action Script 3 asks "if the albums are already in memory" start the "animation" if not, start loading.

So I'm wanting to create a DocumentClass that is willing to accept a variable for a path to an XML file, passed in from the HTML, like thisindex.HTML page would have this: mySWF.swf?xmlPath=xml/xmlFileName.xmlIn the FLA (SWF) I would have only a DocumentClass load a .AS file.In the .AS File I need to accept or read the paramater being passed in from the HTML page.

I made a parent document which essentially loads one of the ten child documents onto the respective key frame. Here's a sample of the code for the first key frame of the parent document:

Well Two things are messed up about it, well my "ChildTimeline2" variable will off and on assosciate itslef not with the main time line of a child document, but of a nested symbol inside said child document. Even worse, the "gotoAndStop();" command I will give sometimes applies to Parent document... yaay! but often it will apply to the child document. The end result being this horrible looping moment where you are stuck in one child document for all time.
I wish I could attach the documents but they exceed the 300KB. how I can get Actionscript to listen fro the last frame of the maintimeline of the child document, or tell flash to gotoandStop for the parent document
I have a main.swf file. In first frame i load a background slideshow with this code:

My problem is that when the site loads the 1st time and click from the menu to go to the 2nd frame (1st content page) then i have to wait at about 3-4 seconds to load my html content. The same for the 3rd frame. If these two content pages load for the 1st time, then the pages open immediately. What can i do for this? Is there a way to open this content pages more quickly, or place a loader, and with what code?
