ActionScript 3.0 :: Keyboard Commands Don't Work In Loaded Swf?

I have a Game swf that uses keyboard Listeners. They workjust fine when the swf's played directly. HOWEVER, after the Game'sbeen loaded into a parent Preloader swf - which is playing from anhtml - , the keyboard Listeners don't function at all.In the Keyboard Listeners do I have to reference the parent?

Atm im putting a a game i build into my main flash app.Everything works fine except the keyboard listener.unny.AFTER a mouse click on the 'loaded' swf the keys 'arrow UP' + 'arrow DOWN' start working.I created already a script that loads the listeners IF they are not loaded yet, but i think thats not the problem. Same situation.After clicking on the movie it starts to work, but apparently the listeners are already applied. All other listeners work besides the keyboard listeners.Stand alone(the game swf running by its own) the game works perfectly!btw the game is importing a main document class.

Can you tab into CS3 Playback components or control them with keyboard commands in a regular (non screenreader) browser like IE? If not, can you in CS4? I believe that all screen readers can control Flash playback now, correct? But I have a higher up who wants it to be keyboard controlled as well.

I have a simple Flash movie, and have used AS3 to allow users to hit the up arrow and go to a certain frame, then hit the right arrow to go to another specific frame. My problem is the minute I put in "stop();" in the script so my movie stops on frame 1, the keyboard controls do not work unless I double-click the playing video. The minute I remove the stop command from my actionscript, the keyboard controls work perfectly...but my movie obviously starts playing which I do not want.
I need both the stop command AND the keyboard controls, and am at a loss.

I see the benefit of asynchronous commands (waiting for server responses...) but in my flex app it creates me more problem than anything. Here's what I want: EVERY command executes only after the previous one returned (to result or fault function) And I'd like to do this as easily as possible.. by the way the GUI must become irresponsive (maybe a wait message) while a long command is being executed (I could show the wait message in the execute function and remove it in the fault or result function..)

So I've spent alot of time building something in Flash that is rather complex and many competitors would find extremely useful if they could get a hold of it for free. I'd like to implement some protection.
The project has a top-level swf sending commands to a loaded swf. That 2nd-level swf loads five or six other 3rd-level swfs.
The 2nd level has the bulk of the actionscript. I would like to protect the functionality. It also contains some vector-based MCs that I don't want anyone to be able to rip. The 3rd level swfs are vectors only, and again, don't want anyone to be able to rip them.
The top-level is the least important as it mainly acts as a loader and commander, but it does load in comma-delimited data that I'd prefer was not publicly available.

Im in the very start of trying to make a little game. he problem is when you hold down the up arrow(speed) + left arrow(left turn) + space bar(brake). But the same combination, just changing the left turn with a right turn(right arrow), that works. he code is boat badly written and partly in Norwegian, sorry, but here it is:

Just using the script below to output the key that is pressed in the output but I get the "Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference." warning on the addEventListener line, which I assume is because of the "stage" var. How do I correct that?

I decided to pick up a copy of O'reilly Actionscript 3 Cookbook today, and I have been going through. One of the first examples it has for keyboard events is:[code]But for some reason it will not work. According to the book stage.focus = this; is all you need for keyboard events to work, am i doing something wrong?

I want to differentiate the LEFT SHIFT key on the keyboard from the RIGHT SHIFT key. The code below will do that on my PC Laptop but not on my Macbook Pro. Someone knows a workaround or the reason why?
Marek PS: the sample code below is not from me. PPS: when I trace event.keyLocation I always get 0 no matter which SHIFT key I press.

I've decided that while playing a guitar via mouse click may sound cool I think it'd be better to wire the notes up via keyboard. And I have hit a snag that I don't understand.

I need to trap keyboard events. My code works OK in test mode (ctrl + enter), but not when I run the swf or projector directly on the desktop. My project is going on CD, not in a browser, and the only thing on the stage is an instance of the FLVplayback component. And while I'm at it....does anyone know the code to simulate clicking the windows Restore button? That's what the keypress is for. My client doesn't want the video running in real full-screen; they want their users to click the Maximize button, so they'll see the title bar, then press Esc to restore the window, again.

Is there a reason why a keyboard event listener would not work if the flash is embedded in an HTML? The rest of my game is running fine in the background, but I can't launch the movieClip "nextCar." My code is below, if that makes any difference...

Im trying to make a game at the moment, with a little character who runs around the screen. To do this i have keyboard event listeners on the character.I have an inventory which opens when you click a button, and has number of things to click on.My problem is that when i close the inventory, by clicking the close button, my keyboard event listeners no longer work on my character.
Keyboard events also dont work on the stage at this point, and i cant understand what i need to do.Its as if nothing has focus anymore for keyboard events. Mouse clicks still work fine.

I'm moving on from trying to getting Keyboard Events to work inside external flash.
So i moved onto Mouse Clicks, but i have a problem with hitTestObject.
I did it the exact same way my tutor did, but it does not want to work for some reason...

I have 2 scenes. In both scenes, I have a movie clip that moves via keyboard control. If the goto next scene is triggered by the movie clip in the first scene the keyboard control works in the second. However, if I use a button to move to the next scene then there isn't any control over the movieclip in that scene. I've traced the keyCode in the second scene and it is picked up but the switch statement doesn't run. I'm migrating to Actionscript 3.0 and updating something I created in 2.0. I would like to do it without writing a class.

I have been trying to get a url to work in a xml file that is being loaded into my swf. I have tried using cdata and i was able to get it to wokr once but then it wouldn't work when i placed it lower in the file.

I have a SWF that loads and plays an FLV. There is additional functionality like pause and mute and some animation that plays when the video is done. It works perfect, but when I load this SWF into a container SWF, most of it stops working and I don't know why. Maybe it's the NetStream code.

I have a swf in which I load another swf, but when I do so, the buttons to enlarge a picture (large_btn) or to pause (pause_btn) or start (start_btn)the slideshow won't work. When I test the last swf only, everything works normally.
The code is in an AS-file.
