ActionScript 3.0 :: Load Flashvars Defined In SwfObject?
Jun 3, 2010
I have never used flashVars, even in AS2, but the project I'm working on requires that I use since my client is going to use dynamic urls defined as expressions and he wants to have control without having to edit a fla file. I have read a lot of tutorials and can't seem to come up with a solution. Basically what I want is to load my Flashvars defined in swfObject, each one holding an expression, for example:
[Code]...
How will I accomplish the same thing in as3? I know you have to get flashVars using .loaderInfo but that as far as i got.
I want to pass flashVars to my swf file via swfObject. I used every sample and codes I found on the internet and swfObject documentation.When I use simple html embed code it works fine but when I use swf object it just return null values.send me a working sample of swfObject sending flashVars to swf (AS3)
The only problem I have is: I don't know how to pass the flashvars via a url for an xml file. It seems to me that SWFObject does not support this. Instead, you need to create a list of flashvars as
var flashvars = { name1: "hello", name2: "world",[code]....
I have a flashvar on my html page which is currently being sent to my .swf file which is working fine. I now want to add multiple flashvars, but I'm having a tough time trying to access them in a loop. The idea is to have it working something similar to how a for in or each loop would work so that I can call the flashvar, and get the values of all flashvars.[code]I'd like to have all of the content in my var_txt textfield.
I have a flash component calling an external xml file configurable via the component inspector (I mean the location of the xml file). What I need is to pass the xml location as a flashvar variable from the html code. When I debug my flash, I can see the xml variable as Variable _level0. myBook.extXML = "URL...So, I am trying to add the flashvar to swfobject as so.addParam("flashVars","extXML=sample.xml"); //any xml what i need.It does not work and does not pass the variable.
I am trying to take a PHP variable and pass it along to Flash via Flash vars. My end goal is to pass a string formatted as XML to Flash, but because I'm struggling I've stripped everything down to the basics. I'm just trying to pass a simple PHP string variable to Flash via FlashVars with SWFObject but something isn't right. The page won't load when I try to pass the variable inside of php tags, but it will load if I just pass a hard coded string. The basic structure of my page is that I have some PHP declared at the top like so:[code]How do I pass a PHP variable using SWFObject and FlashVars?
I've tried to send some parameters to my flash app by flashvars. Unfortunently, it doesnt work. To embde flash I'm using SWFObject 2.2. I also use lib SWFAddress 2.4 (I'm stating this, because I've heard that some versions of swfobject and swfaddress are not compatible).

I've tried many solutions and read many tutorial or forumposts, but I havent found any that solves my problem.

I'm rebuilding this embedable player for a client of mine, the video file URL and a couple of other variables are in the HTML as Flashvars. I suspect something is wrong with the code that looks for the flashvars.
The top part showing the green box is where the player didn't load because it was unable to obtain the Flashvars form the HTML. The player below has the Flashvars string hardcoded into the player so it works.
I believe the problem lies somewhere below Perhaps something wrong with the way I'm trying to pull in the Flashvars?
// LIVE Embedded //vidURL = stage.loaderInfo.parameters.fvar; vidURL = this.loaderInfo.parameters.fvar;

This has been driving me nuts. I've worked with SWFObject in the past which is great. However I have a requirement not to use JavaScript. So when I try to do flashvars examples all over the net, they don't seem to work for me. Steps to repeat:
1) Create a pure AS3 project using Flex or Flash Builder
2) In the index.html wherever there is a .swf, add a name value pair suffix. test.swf?foo=bar
3) In the constructor of the main class Sprite, trace(root.loaderInfo.parameters.foo).
Expected: bar but traces out as undefined I've tried setTimeout() to evaluate 5 seconds in the future, still doesn't work as if it's not loaded at all.
With swfobject 2.2, how do you specify the desired version of flash you require? I need flash 10, but swfobject won't perform an upgrade install with the provided expressInstall. swf in the swfobject 2.2 distributable. How do I get an upgrade install to occur for flash 10?
Adobe Flash CS3 I need to create a Flash project that will load images that are defined from either a xml or database (If database, then it will be SQL Server (or) Access using ASP Classic).
I need to make an image wall that looks like the below. Now, the the total images will be: 10x10 = 100 So that is 10 columns, 10 rows = 100 images.At times, it will not have all the images (Image #1)And the rest of the time it will have them all (Image #2)
The important part is this:The Flash movie will not have nothing special as in.It will just be showing the images, and the images will need to be Clickable, NOT to show a larger image within the program BUT Launch a website that is specified in the xml file for the paticilar image.
I've got a weird problem with loading Flashvars into my flash application. I tried to isolate the code and try it in an other document, but the object returned is still empty.This is my HTML code:
I have been successful in dynamically loading an album in SSP before, but using SSP Standalone. I did it like this:
var flashvars = { xmlFilePath: "http://site.com/ssp_director/images.php?album=5" }
What I'm looking to do now, though, is dynamically load a gallery when the page loads, using text entered in the javascript, or flashvars I'd assume. I'm using ActionScript 3 with this, so I'm not sure if I have to do something to the SSP instance in Flash. I'm not very good with AS3, so following advice or tutorials is about all I can muster. I'm also using SSP Director, so my gallery XML URLs would be similar to above in the example code.
i have this code in my flash doc and it's not working.
var my_xml_loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); my_xml_loader.load(new URLRequest(root.xml_path)); my_xml_loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, processXML);
i get this message:1119: Access of possibly undefined property xml_path through a reference with static type flash.display:DisplayObject.
this is the complete code (it's a slideshow for external images)
I am trying to create a basic flash player that auto loads a file that is read from a databaseI know that using flashvars is the key, and i think javascript to load, however i am not sure how to startso what is the procedure?what actionscript do i need?what javascript would i need?do i just install the flash vars into the embed?
I am trying to choose the video that loads in my flvplayback by using flashvars. I have scoured tutorials and have tried numerous code combinations with no luck.Here is the code...
What im trying to do is use Flashvars to load an url in to a loadMovie.
I have a blank movie in a html page and i want to use that same blank movie over and over again with out have to reopen the flash movie. but i need to movie to pull different .swf. and i that what i though that i would use the Flashvars for but i can get it to work...
I am using flex builder 3.2, Action Script 3 and develop for Flash Player 10 and am quite new to it. when I call a method of a self defined class, I get the 1061 error (not defined). But the class and the method exist and are public, so what the hell am I doing wrong? Flash Builder is even offering me this method in the auto-completion, so at least the builder knows it... I have already tried cleaning the project (as this is the common source of strange errors when working with java/eclipse),
edit: solved... The problem was that a package had the same name as the variable I used for the class. Very strange error message, thumbs down for this .
I'm using swfobject (2.2) to load blip.tv videos. Everything was working fine with their old player, but now that they have switched to the stratos player, it fails to load properly in IE. It shows a grey video window, with the play button half showing on the left side, and the button won't work.
Here is my js code:
function loadBlip(videoFile,width,height,cssID) { var blipSWF = "http://blip.tv/scripts/flash/stratos.swf"; var expressSWF = "/lib/js/swfobject/expressInstall.swf"; var attributes = {
[Code]......
The file that I pass to the loadBlip function looks like: [URL]
Again, this works fine in FF/Chrome/Safari, but fails in IE.
I'm using swfobject to load a flash object on my site and it's loading very slowly on pages with a lot of data...as if swfobject waits until the page loads before loading the swf. Here's an example page with swfobject: [URL] If I change out the swfobject code with an iframe (with the swf as the src) or just use object embed, the flash object loads much, much faster...before the rest of the page loads.
I know there are a ton of page load time improvements I could make to that page (I'm working on that as well), but I'm wondering if there are some specific changes I could make to the way I'm using swfobject to get the same loading speed as an iframe or object embed?
I bought a ready to use mp3 player /shop solution ( Paypal ).Buyer gets the link to the loaded ( player ) mp3 file after successfull payment by email.Need to feed the player with only a part of the mp3 file, but taken from the full length mp3.
I cant simply load a pre-cut mp3 into the player, as the buyer will get the link to the file which loads into the player after buying.how to call just like the desired seconds to play from the track ?
I am trying to find a very good step by step tutorial on using "Flashvars" to load external mp3 files, I have been searching on google and the many I have found fall short in some way or another. From what I have been able to gather, I have tried using the code in red (commented out), which works, and modify it to use "Flashvars". The code that works, the mp3 file is hard coded, but my goal is to use "Flashvars" which I am attempting to do in the code following the code in red. I am also including the html code.
I'm using the following code to embed the swf and load a file via flashvars. It works fine in firefox...but does not work in IE. I'm convinced that the issue is in my html syntax. Can anyone spot the problem?
