I've created a simple class that defines a scrollbar to scroll content.I've applied this class (ScrollBox.as) to a movieclip in the library as the Base Class.Now, I'd like to add this movieclip to the stage with AS3.So for the Linkage, I've given the movieclip a class name of 'AboutBox'.This is the code I've written to add it to the display list:[code]

Can any answer the following questions and maybe point me to a "for dummies" tutorial on 'Classes'. I have the books but they have seemed to disappoint me. Unfortunately I can never ask "why" when reading a book.
1) Does a Class file need to be attached to a library symbol?
2) How do you know what to import?I know this sounds funny but should you always import flash.display.MovieClip? I just want to create a line using a class to begin with and call it from a flash swf with two parameters (start and end).Wouldn't it only need to be a import flash.display.Graphics
3) What is "Base class is final."? Anybody had this error before?[code]

I have the following as code in a separate file placed in the root folder of the swf file. The as file is the class for a MovieClip in the library.When i manually place the library symbol on the stage, the MC works fine and draws the square with the nodes. However, when I try to create a copy using ' new sqMC();' code, I get an error.

I know how to load an xml data into the stage by using one class from library However, rite now, I have 3 customer_mc with class for each:[code] how can i put three customer mc into the for loop? Do I put it in an array? Do you mind give me an example? I want to link the xml to each character classes,like char 1 is the first <customer> tag from the xml data. I know the logic, but to put it in the code is hard for me since im pretty new Second, I don't want it to be put randomly on the stage but only on the right corner of the stage. Is that mean, I put a precise coordinate for the customers mc?

I'm trying to load a movieclip into a "movieclipholder" in the Flash project. I don't want any external SWF's, everything is put together in the same project. And that's where my problem starts. I have got no idea how to load one movieclip from the library into another movieclip. Is it possible? I feel it should be.

Actually what I want is that I need to load a movieClip from the library and symultaneously it should have 45 degree rotation before loading to screen.But when I tried to do the same, it was rotating after the load event.I used the following code:

_root.p1.rotateTo(-10,0, "easeinoutsine");
My intension is that before load to screen the MovieClip should have rotation instead rotating after load event. But according my code we get to feel like it is rotation after load event.Anyone one can you make it rotate before loading to screen.
What I need: A movieClip should have roate to 45 degree before loading it to screen.

I have a movie clip that holds one bitmap image, some simple AS3 to change the image displayed, and a ton of bitmaps I've imported into my library.Currently, I swap the images by changing the bitmapData
holder.bitmapData = new test2(1,1);
but this requires me to check off 'Export for ActionScript' in every symbol. I'd rather not go through every bitmap in the library and do this, is there some way to reference them by their library name?

I am working on a flash game that I am building in Flash Builder 4. I have a library of movieclips in the FLA file and need to create instances of these movieclips within objects of a custom class. I am unsure how to refer to the library of the flash file while in a class file.
I also would like to call these movieclips dynamically based on the combination of two strings. I know it is possible to create variables dynamically with this[variableName]. Can I refer to library objects from the flash doc in the same way?

I'm developing a flash lite app in as 2.0. loading a movieclip on to the stage from the library. The name of the mc is Objects and I have exported it for actionscript in the linkage. I learnt as 3.0 initially. That is why finding difficult in going to as 2.0

I have a class in which I create multiple thumbnails in a for cycle. In the library I have a movieclip for the thumbnails (ThumbnailContainer). This movieclip contains another movieclip (imageContainer) with a mask and a container where the image should load (image). So in AS2 it would be ThumbnailContainerInstance.imageContainer.image. How can I load an image into "image" movieclip? The thumbnail class looks like this:

0i am looking for something easy enough, but i can't find the right way it seems mission: when a button is pressed i want to load a mc (no swf) from my library, play that and when it's done playing(the mc) it deletes. purpose: i just want to make somekind of "flash" "blink" when a button is pressed. when another button is pressed the "blink" loads again. i tried it with the my_mc. _visible = true/false code. but it just doesn't work out.

Is it even possible to associate a class file to a movieClip manually placed on the stage without setting up the class linkage in the library? If so, how?
P.S. linking in the library then placing on the stage is not a viable option. Nor is using "addChild" from the library.

I have a MovieClip in the library with a class associated with it. I can instanciate the MovieClip just fine using code and add it to the stage without any problems. But how can I manually add the MovieClip to the stage and feed it the one parameter when it's instanciated? I've tried all the usual stuff but nothing seems to work:

testClip is the name of the MovieClip that's been manually placed on the stage.

Okay, so I decided to try putting some child movieclip switches into the .as instead of in the frames. After a lot of Googling and reading, I think I learned that each of those movieclips need to be in their own .as. Anyway, I tried to do it and the movieclip, which is located in the .fla library and does have export checked off, is not showing up when I play the file. The movieclip has this .as to itself:
