ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading An External Swf With Enter Frame?
Feb 28, 2011
I'm trying to load an external SWF file once my Flash timeline reaches frame 29. I've tried a number of approaches at this, but they all end with the SWF file staying there when other pages are clicked. The SWF file (home_page.swf) can also be seen flashing between pages when buttons are clicked.
As you can see from the code below my other pages are called by Mouse Events on buttons. What is the best approach at having home_page.swf load at frame 27 and not conflict with the other buttons based pages? I would like home_page.swf to disappear when another SWF is loaded
I have been tinkering with ENTER_FRAME, just not sure how to set up a variable for it to work with my other pages.
Here is an example of a MouseEvent based page that I am using...
ActionScript Code:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
var ContactPage:URLRequest = new URLRequest("contact_page.swf");
contact_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, loadContactPage);
[Code]....

I have a files that is loading and parsing a huge amount of data from a csv file and creating and plotting a graph using the data. All is well if I have the file loaded on the first frame of the movie. But if I pass in the URL by entering the file name in a text input field and clicking a button. The X and Y axis values disappear as do intermittent notes placed above the bar graph. I still see the x and y axis and it's hash marks and the bar graph (shapes) but all of the text is gone.

I have an application swf that loads a big external swf with all GUI components/assets (skin) in it.I want to display a progress bar during loading of the external asset swf file but the images for the progress bar are also included in the external swf file.Is it possible to load only a portion of the external swf before loading the rest. The idea is to load the progress bar images from the external swf, then construct the progress bar and than load the rest of the swf. I was thinking to put it on different frames. Frame 1 containing the progress bar graphics and frame 2 the rest of the assets.

I have a series of MCs in my root timeline. On each frame in the root, I am simply running 'stop();' to allow the MC within the frame to play through all the way. Once the timeline within the MC reaches the last frame, I have the following AS to go back to the root and play the next frame (each frame is labelled):

I've got a .fla with different buttons. when I klick them different loaders loads ext swfs.
Code:
var myloader4:Loader;
this.revista.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, movie4Click);
function movie4Click(event:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndStop("white");
var myrequest:URLRequest=new URLRequest("rec.swf");
myloader4 = new Loader();
myloader4.load(myrequest);
stage.addChild(myloader4);
Underneath the loaders on the label "white" I have to buttons, next and prev. I want to, when I press them, to go to the next frame of the loaded swf. I've got 6 diff ones. (myloader1-myloader6).

I have two flash files, say a.swf and b.swf.a.swf is the main swf file, embedded in an HTML page for a webpage. There is a preloader in a.swf too. In b.swf, when I click a specific button I need to load a.swf, but not from the preloader, from the content. To be precise, the content starts from Frame 24 of a.swf (obviously Preloader ends in Frame 23). I believe, the frame 24 has to be loaded in a.swf when I click the button in b.swf.

I have a main movie which loads various external SWF's. What I would like to achieve is that when returning to the main movie (using URLRequest & Loader class) that the main movie starts at specific frame.[code]I believe that the way global variables work in AS3 is very different. Is it true that I need to achieve this via an external class ?

Using AS3 how can you load an external swf file at a specific frame of the newly loaded swf file.Using the AS3 loader class I have no problem loading an external image or swf movie onto the stage.But what I want to do is when the swf is loaded, go to the second frame (labeled "two") of that loaded swf.
For example, My main movie "main.swf" is blank.My external movie "loadMe.swf" has a circle on frame one and a square on frame 2.On the main movie (main.swf) is a button and when you click on it I want the square on frame two of "loadMe.swf" to appear.

My boss bought some pre-made actionscript that traces the mouse position when it's held down to display a certain frame at a certain position. He uses this for 360 product display. Then he asks me to find a way to load the jpg images each frame externally.
I did, one jpg per frame using this:
this.createEmptyMovieClip("logo_mc", this.getNextHighestDepth());
logo_mc.createEmptyMovieClip("container_mc",0);
logo_mc.container_mc.loadMovie("0.jpg");
logo_mc.onPress = function() {
trace("It works");};
However, when you switch from one frame to another, there's a delay in loading the next jpg, even when it's local. So, when you go from one frame to another, there's this strobe light effect. I'm assuming that what one would do to solve this is to load an array and set each jpg visibility to 0 until the frame calls to that movie to set the visablity on a specfic container.

I am using the video component player and it is working fine using this code:
Code:
video.setMedia("elements/flv/episode_1.flv", "FLV");
The problem is, if someone is playing the video and goes to another part of the flash movie, the video keeps playing or loading in the background. The video image doesn't show, but i can hear the audio or see in the browser that it is still loading.
How can i kill the video from loading once the playhead moves from the frame that the video player is on (it is sitting on a single frame)?

I have the "gotoAndPlay" code working properly but can't seem to get the external swf "slideshow1" to load and play.
I've inserted the following code into the frame label "history" actionscript.
var myrequest_history:URLRequest=new URLRequest

var myloader_history:Loader=new Loader();
myloader_history.load(myrequest_history);

its like this, i have a main swf, lets call it "loader_swf", inside the loader_swf i create a movie clip called "holder_mc" which loads an external swf, lets call it "ex_swf". The ex_swf has a movie clip in frame 2 which is the main animation of ex_swf. what I'm trying to do: I have an animation thats 173 frames long - an intro to a html based website. This swf file is embedded in the index.html, and is to load my "main-html", when the animation is complete.To try and do this iv'e tried with the following code in a blank keyframe in my as3 code layer on the last frame of the animation: [code]Upon completed animation it just goes into a frantic loop which seems to be trying to connect to my "main.html", but never have a chance to completely connect before it tires again.I have used similar code for my buttons, inside the page itself, which works just fine.

So I've about hundred of map tiles and each title has some object which does some stuff. And one of things it should do is to update text (a time after which you need to do something) in text field. How should i do it better - with enter frame event and on each enter frame update it or set up a timer object which on each second would update the text in text field?
