View 1 RepliesI am trying to get the position of a movie clip called "Shooter", returned to a variable called spitballYpos.
The movie clip is sitting on frame 6 (labelled "Shooting") of a movie clip called PDFstanding.
The position returns perfectly if I place the .shooter MC on the first frame of PDFstanding, but on frame 6 the variable result just returns "undefined".
What have I missed? If I need to reference the particular frame the 'shooter' movie clip is on, then what is the correct syntax?

the position and dimension are changed but the problem is the last dimensions are not removed and it get bigger n bigger
Basically the x position of the mouse should control the play position of a movie. Do I need something like an event handler (I'm not sure exactly what these do, but I've seen similar scripts that seem to use them).

I'm halfway to accomplishing this.

The above code is on a blank keyframe. Changepage1 is the start of the animation and Changepage2 is the end of the animation.
Upon clicking the navigation button it plays the above scenes.
However it doesn't change scenes to scene "Home2".
How do you find the frame position of an MC with AS? I have several MCs that are supposed to play one after the other, however there's got to be a way to keep my AS organized and not have nextMC.gotoAndPlay()s at the end of each one, ya know. I try to keep my AS all on a few essential well marked frames.
View 5 RepliesI recently started to use flex and I'm having trouble with the debugger. Every time I try to run it in flash player, it says it can't locate my debugger. But I downloaded the flash player debugger from the Adobe website and put it in the library > internet plugins folder. I'm using flash player 9 on flex 3.
View 1 RepliesOn my website I go to "movie explorer" and go through all the ActionScript and on the bar tab it does open upa moving vertical options (it shows up when I have it in swf or preview it) but while I am in Flash CS4 I can't find it....there are extra componentsin separate files inside the folders (mx) and (tm). It is not live on my site yet but what I am trying to do is have certain tabs go directly to a different webpage (not all of them to the flash tabs as specified) as you will see by visiting my site: [URL]
View 4 RepliesI have loaded an external .swf file on to the stage with multiple movieClips in it. From the main timline of which I load this external .swf file, I am moving the movieclip(s) around the stage (with the commands of the arrow key). On the main timeline I have this:

When I trace the village on the onEnterFrame function, I am successful in viewing the value/position of the village in the in the external .swf file. However, if 'this_occurs' and I tell it to use the function 'this_function', where I tell it to trace the village again, it doesn't recongize the movieClip, or village. Instead of giving me a value, it just gives me 'undefined'. So why is it that the 'this_function' can't locate the external .swf file village?
it possible to set the frame rate of an externally loaded movie to a different frame rate than the movie it is embedded within. I basically have a flash site that loads flash movies using loadMovie command, however, the frame is lost within these movies and simply adopts the main site frame rate.

On layer 1 i have an input text field with the instance of "message_txt" that runs along all 5 frames in the timeline.
On layer 2 i have 5 frames each with its own actionscript on. The user navigates between frames with simple 'gotoAndStop(4)' etc... on each next or back button.[code]...
I've been looking everywhere but not solved my problem:In frame "2" I've got a ScrollPane with a long external sfw text scrolling. At his side I have buttons that links to a certain position of the scroll so they have:

(where 200 is n°of pixel down from the top)My problem is that I'd also like to have those shortcuts buttons on frame "1" (main menu) so they can jump directly to the ScrollPane position in frame "2" by press.
I have a Flash project created in an earlier version that I'm opening in CS3. I'm trying to change one link, but it appears to be buried in code and I can't locate it and I need to change the link to an outside page.
View 8 RepliesI have a menu screen that for various reasons consists of a number of buttons as separate flash movies. When a button inside these movies is clicked, it is supposed to call a javascript function to move to the appropriate page. It works fine in firefox, but is currently failing in IE7. I don't have an IE6 handy to test on.This is the error I get in IE:[code]I can't locate what char 25 of line 1 might actually mean. I only get the error when I click on the button, and after installing Visual Web Developer to try and get some actual debugging, it doesn't seem to be actually firing the function that is called, so it seems like the error is happening in whatever mechanism actually makes ExternalInterface.call work?[code]
But as i said it doesn't even show up if I put a breakpoint here and debug it. If I put a javascript:gohere('id') link in the html screen and click that it works fine.I have ExternalInterface.call working in other parts of the same project, and can't for the life of me see any differences in the way it has been implemented.
I'm trying to load an as3 swf in another as3 swf,but it says it can't find a class that's being used in the swf that I'm trying to load.I want to know if I can specify the path of the class that's being used so that the swf can locate it when loaded to the main swf.Here's the error I get:

View 3 RepliesI'm in the process of migrating my 1st flash game from my PC to a web site. I have a preloader that will load a couple of .swf files to start but it stops when requesting the 1st URL.
Here is my code:

This is not the entire preloader file, just the part until it halts.
Is it possible that I need to publish with specific settings? After all, everything was working fine until it was copied on the server.
I'm currently making an animation which will eventually exceed the 16,000 frame limit (don't ask haha), so, short of making two movies and having to just start up the next one, what is the code for loading a movie? I presume they need to be in the same directory? So basically all I want is on the last frame of the movie the code executes and the second movie file opens up and starts. I guess I'd want the current movie to close, too.
View 1 RepliesBack in 2007 I was using a script that allowed me to store in the browser's cache a specific frame, so that when I navigated through different static html pages, it would remember to not "load" (if you will) the first half of the movie.
I am working on a site that has flash elements, one being an audio player, another being popup navigation.
Does anyone have or know of a script that will allow me to do two things:
1) remember a position page-to-page via browser caching (so the navigation won't pop up every time)
2) allow the audio player to remember its last position and whether it was muted or not.

I am attempting to create 360 degree spin-around product viewer. So far I have a movie clip with 24 frames, each one with a different 15 degree angle shot of the product. Upon playback of the movie, the product appears 3D, spinning 360 degrees.
That was the easy part. Now what I need is to be able to click and drag the product to change which view you are seeing (or which frame in the mc you are on) thus producing a spinning effect. How can you code, in AS3.0, that when the mouse is clicked and drug, go to a certain frame based on the current X position of the mouse?
I Want to change where my mouse x and y is when i enter the frame...
View 1 RepliesI always see these bezier curve things where you can like choose how to make the line bend and everything and today i started expirimenting with the drawing API and found out that it's incredibly easy to do. My question is how do you make it so that the position of the anchor points refreshes every frame? I have the basic idea I just can't quite figure it out.
View 7 RepliesWell, basically what I want to do is, if the mouse is on the left side of the movie clip.. the movie clip will then play ( "A" animation inside the movie clip) vice cersa, if the mouse cursor is on the right side of the movie clip, the movie clip will then play ("B" animation inside the movie clip)
To put it simply, I would like to make a character in a game which faces the mouse cursor and chasing (with a runnning animation) after the mouse cursor but not rotating. I've got the movie clip slides along with the mouse working well, now I just need the mc to face the mouse cursor.
I have made a movie using just one symbol. Is there any way in flash cs4 where i can print the position of my symbol in every frame into a text file?
View 1 RepliesBasically I have a load of movieclips on one frame, and a load of the same type on the second frame. However, when you're coming from the first frame to the second frame, Flash decides to place the new movieclips in the same position as the old movieclips (from the first frame) rather than where I placed them in Flash.
I vaguely remember seeing something like this before, but I can't for the life of me remember the solution. Any of you guys know what's happening here?
Just a note, it looks as if giving the movieclips instance names stops it - but this isn't really plausible for me as I could have hundreds of movieclips on each frame..

I want users to be able to locate objects ,say rectangles, freely on the screen. Each Rectangle will have width, height, x, y.
I want that when users resize browser window, the rectangles change location and size relative to the window while maintaining proportion.
I noticed I could do something width="20%" height="20%" and then object will resize but if the aspect ration is diffenent the rectangles will look distorted. Also I wasn't sure what's the best way to locate object relatively as I noticed I couldn't bind Flexglobals.toplevelapplication.width/Flexglobals.toplevelapplication.height to x/y.
I've started getting the following when I try to run FB4 projects:

Flash Builder cannot locate the required debugger version of Adobe Flash Player. You might need to install the debugger version of the Flash Player or reinstall Flash Builder.
I've installed the debugger version of the Flash Player. Didn't work. I've reinstalled Flash Builder. Didn't work. I tried using Safari instead of Firefox. Didn't work.
When I go to Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ in the finder, I can see Flash Player.plugin right there. But when I go to Username/Library/Internet Plug-Ins the entire folder is blank. So I tried copying Flash Player.plugin to the latter folder. Didn't work.
Mac questions (I'm new to mac): Which of these is really the root? Is it normal that there should be duplicate directories like this, with non-duplicate contents??
In FB I opened Windows --> preferences --> Flash Builder --> Profiler --> Player/Browser and browsed to /Applications/Adobe Flash CS5/Players/Debug/Flash Player Debugger.app
What does Flash Player Debugger.app have to do with Flash Player.plugin?
