I'm currently trying to make a basic escape the room game in Flash, and for some reason the last couples of entries I have made for the code aren't working. Right before adding these lines, everything worked and I already know that each object has been converted into a movie clip or button and has the correct instance name.

I want to make a virtual tour of a room in Flash / Flex. How can this be achieved? Firstly, is it enough to have pictures taken from a still point? If yes, how can I turn them into a real tour? Also, is there a library for this kind of thing for AS3?
View 1 Repliesi am starting a project for our church that it will look like a game, each logged in users will be able to attend different types of the room such as prayer room, visitors room etc and will be able to interact each other.
with having a just brief rough idea, i figured that i need to have a socket server and socket class for it. (i tried to make a chatting room with just urlvariable and php mysql but it seems its more appropriate to use the socket server.
well the site will be more focused on the CONNECTION between the logged users and they will need to be able to interact each other when they are viewing photos, videos, sharing thoughts, prayers, etc, and for that matter socket server seems must.
but i do not have any knowledge on the server socket, how to make em and how to set up them. can someone please give me a insight or direction where i should start and look for ?
i figured php isnt suitable for a socket server(which is the only language that i know of) so i m lookin into java or python but i have no idea what to do.
We have for some time been discussing internally whether Flash or Unity is the best solution for our need.
Our plan is to make a 3D home planner application that runs online. Should be similar to this[URL]. however still with the 3D view, where you are able to walk around in the house you created.
At first glance Unity seem to handle 3D best (although I have seen some amazing 3D in flash aswell) but the problem is that not many people have unity and we want to reach the largest audience.
So I guess I am asking if a project like this is even possible in flash. Current status is that we have only little knowledge of Unity and very little knowledge in flash.
Im making a tool to plan dungeons, its a 25x25 grid made up of movieclips, the movieclip used has 10 layers, each layer a different colour/pattern to represent a room type. The idea is to choose the room from the legend then click on the movie clips you want to turn them into that room type.i have tried 2 methods, 1st i generated a grid and added a "cell"+count to each new instance as made, however i can only get it to change the last cell, no matter which clip is clicked.Now the 2nd "noob" method is to make each cell(instance square on the grid) and label them by hand, as well as add the code for each cell, but clearly this is alot of work. But it works, the next steps would be To convert the current grid setup into a text string to save Add a counter so you know how many squares you have used Reset button.

Although the platform is free to use, but not open source yet. View 1 RepliesI am continuing my long switch from AS2 to AS3 finally... and I thought I'd start by making something simple. An "Escape The Room" type game, should be easy right? Just pointing and clicking? I loaded up my file for folks to look at.. I guess my big question is what I did wrong.. I thought i set up the buttons correctly and my Event Listeners.

But Flash doesn't like SOMETHING I did, I should be able to click and drag things if I knew what I was doing :P
My idea is to be able to have a number of different objects on the side of the stage, kind of in a toolbar, then to be able to click (and thus select) one of them and place it another area in the room with another click (basically placing it, deselecting it and fixing it in place where I clicked).
I'd then like to be able to re-click it and reposition it by dragging, if I so wish.
i am making a escape the room in flash in by game i have 4 rooms with different objects inside and when I click on one of the object it disappears in to the inventory but I am having a problem with the inventory when move to room 2 and go back to room 1 the object i pick up disappears from the inventory back to the stage but i what the to stay in the inventory when i have pick it up and i what to be able to go to different room without the object returning i am working in AS3
View 1 RepliesI have a function called addRoom.A scroll pane with thumbnails of rooms, each thumbnail is a button. The viewport is empty by default. When I click a button the function is called, it adds a room to my viewport. If I click another button a new room is added but the first room still remains. How do I get the first room to be removed? I assume there is something wrong with my index.
