ActionScript 3.0 :: Make "global Function" For Call?
Jan 23, 2011
i cannot get exactly how to make "global function" for call them so. I want to make a function in my MainMovie.as class that can be call from MyButton.as class. Or declare a function in any class and use it from any other class.
I've found the making the functions "static" does the work, but those cannot be apply to the "this." (intances). like:
this is the function i want to turn in to a static function. just dont know how to make it a static function and call it from other classes. i think this would have its own file.
I'm trying to make a timer.. When I press a button a movieclip does this: gotoAndStop(2); I want it to go back to Keyframe 1 after 10 seconds. How can I get this to work?
I'm trying to make a loaded SWF call a function that is in the parent SWF, but it is not working.In AS 2.0 I could just put something like _root.myFunction(); and it worked.But in AS 3.0 it does not work anymore.
I am trying to create a public function, i have a decument class with all of my variables in it, I have worked out how to bring in external .swf files, now I need a way to have an even trigger something on a separate .swf So at the moment I have a flunction that works on the parent
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, mousePosition); function mousePosition(event:MouseEvent) { if(mouseX>=125)
I am working on AS3 and I have a created a button class which have an off state and on state. I did the class and it works fine, but i need a little fine tuning. Right now I am polling the button state from the root(main timeline) by checking a boolean property in the button class. I feel it is quite inefficient to check the button state on every enterFrame event of the main timeline. Rather I would prefer the button to tell the root time line by invoking a function written in the root, whenever a state change occurs. t should be cleaner , right?? But when I try to access a function in the root which goes like this
I'm trying to edit some flash to make an external javascript function call, but with no success. Here's my actionscript 2.0 code:
[Code]....
I've seen lots of examples and I'm mainly confused about the use of ExternalInterface.addCallback. I don't need the javascript to return anything to flash, so is this necessary? For whatever reason, I never see the alert. Does anyone see any problems in my code? Is there some ExternalInterface library I don't have? Also, what's the BEST way to use ExternalInterface (ie; error checking, etc.)
i am not an action script developer nor flash designer, i just want to have a small action script sample that i will edit a little to make it interact with my javascript code. By the way, i want to have a button and a label on a flash form, when the user clicks on this button the onclick event will call another function 'setText for example' this setText() function will change the label text. So i think the code will be something like this:
[Code]....
I managed to put the button and the label i want just the code i will write to make this work.
I've a grid view in flex, one of the columns is rendered like this:
[Code]....
now I've a problem that the function in button click is not being recognized. It says "call to a possibly undefined function" even though it was defined. What is wrong with this? How do i make a button in a grid call a function in the same mxml file??
I have a bunch of movie clips which I am adding to my stage using addChild, I need each clip to "fade in" when it is added. I made it work for one movie clip using this function on the movie clip itself
Code: this.alpha = 0; function imgAlpha(e:Event):void {
I get the alert but I can't get the lightbox window to display. When my as code makes the ExternalInterface call I get what looks like a page refresh and a blank browser window.
I have an enterFrame action that I use on a graphic:
[Code]....
Because I want to use the above code more than a few times, I tried to make it a function.
[Code]....
But for some reason the function call does not work when I call it via an action on a graphic where initially the code worked when it was explicitly written and not called as a function.
I need to get a javascript var in my Flash application. I like to be able to just set a variable in the javascript (client constraints) rather than define a function.
Can this be done? I am trying to use the ExternalInterface.call()
have a node that has an asfunction embedded - won't work. if I change the a href to a web page- it works fine. If I try to call a custom function it doesn't call it at all.
I have a simple banner which rotates through three different movieclips. I would like to create a function on the main timeline that controls the length of delay for each of the clips.
So far this is what I have on the main timeline, which is a single frame:
I'm an old C programmer been away from programming for years. Now we have a project requiring Flash and I've been elected. Just installed CS4. I have 16 panels in 4 sets of 4 that rotate left to right. (Big learning curve on that one - fading transitions in the right order...). Each panel must have a unique url when clicked. (16 urls).I've looked through many solutions, most of which seem unduly complex. I think that the simplest short of going to onRelease() with AS2 (Later I have to add mouseover changes in the graphics) is something like this:[code]I haven't found this solution out there. Is there a gotcha because the a#Link vars are accessed as global within the scope of handleLink? It doesn't feel right, but it works fine and 16 global variables doesn't seem too bad.
I'm having an issue with a global variable. I'm trying to give it a value within a function and it isn't working.The variable is imageList. It's an XML List. I'm making it global so I can use it anywhere in my project. I suppose if someone has a better idea to avoid the global variable, I'm up for that too. But for now, it seems like the way to go.
Here's my .as file: package { public class MyGlobal {
[code]....
It's giving me the same same Error #1009 as above. It seems like a scope problem, but why? Shouldn't it work since it's a global variable?
I am currently creating a calculator in AS3. Since i need to create a lot of buttons, i need to make a function, so i dont have to write everything into the variable again and again.
