I need a tutorial for a hierarchical drop down menu system that drops down 3 sub levels. Do I make the items in the sub menus individual buttons and then insert them into a movie clip or make every sub menu item a movie clip and insert them into buttons?
View 1 RepliesI am creating a navigation bar in Flash (which will then be used in Dreamweaver). When you mouse over each topic in menu (ex. Products), i want it play a movie clip (so it shoots out a sub-menu underneath). so far so good, but the only thing is, the sub-menu won't stay open in order for me to click on buttons in it. For each button, I assigned it the Behavior to go to a url. Also, I tested the buttons within the mc and they don't seem to direct me to url. do you think maybe it's because it's nested within the movie clip?? Is there an easier way to go about this?

I'm having a bit of trouble getting a button in a hoover over drop down menu to link to another scene in the .swf movie. I just doing a basic drop down menu (example here: [URL] with a couple of buttons with in a movie clip, the movie clip being the "button" someone hoovers over. The buttons however are not going to the corrisponding scene I have them set up to. What's strange is that if I set in the buttons action panel to go to an url instead of a scene, in the .swf movie the button works when I click it...it wants to go the specificed url. Nothing happens when it's set to go to a scene.
View 5 RepliesI am using a scroll bar for a menu. However, I keep getting error 1120. I selected all of my menu buttons, and created a new symbol, with instance name "content". When I compile, I get 1120, error Access of undefined property. I am assuming this is because, my buttons are now associated with the scroller content area. My question is basically, how do you get buttons to work inside of a scroll area?

I have downloaded the following code and tried to change it. It works so far, but the attached MC are "pulsating" - if I change them with another MC (with text inside) I can't use them as a Menu links - they are "pulsating" too much and I can't read/see the text properly. where in code I can change(reduce) this "pulsation"? how can I make the MC-s cklickable=working as a buttons with mouseover/mouseout effects (changing color etc.)

I need to create an application where a number of buttons keep scrolling horizontally. For that I created a movie clip. In that I create a number of buttons. They scroll on click of a button. My problem is I changed the color of the button in the over state. But while testing the movie, the button color is not changing. I thought that the problem was due to the fact that the buttons are in the movie clip.
View 1 RepliesI have a website where I have designed a scrolling thumbnail panel with nested buttons that are coded to load external swfs into a holder on the page.I am guessing that the problem must stem from the original file with the panel being 3 swfs deep in the final site. The panel and the buttons work fine when they are 1 or 2 swfs deep but I can't get them to work from the main navigation page. I have played with the _parent function and I can't seem to get it to work. I have also put the buttons on the main nav pages library as I read that that was necessary but again it didn't get it to work. Here is my code below.

I have a flash banner that rotate 6 images(slides). and it includes 6 buttons to navigate in to each image. Also images are rotates automatically every 10sec.But these buttons are not clickable in FF/Chrome, but work fine in IE with wmode: transparent. Also these buttons work fine in all browsers with wmode: opaque.Also there is drop down menu on top of the flash movie(a separate menu not included in the flash). In wmode: opaque dropdown part of the menu goes behind the Flash. In wmode: transparent that want happen.

Except my button in the loaded movie....I am trying to load a movie in a holder and have a button that had if else statement based on the movie being clicked. I have attempted this buy setting up a count on a movieClip but this seems to disable the buttons in the loading movie?

The problem is that the buttons inside the top layered movie clip work, but the others in the movie clips below don't.

I am opening different swf's and I want to make sure that the buttons are still showing. I know there is something with changing or swapping the depth of the movie clip when it loads the new swf's in, but I have not found anything that is seeming to work.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to make a menu that has onRelease buttons on top of onRollover buttons (the onReleases are on a separate layer from the onRollovers). The onRelease buttons take the user to different urls, and the onRollover buttons are supposed to allow different parts of the menu to appear.
The onRelease buttons work fine, but I can't get the onRollover buttons to work consistently. Sometimes the onRollover buttons will correctly advance to a different frame, and sometimes they "stick" and do not advance. The script has no errors and I've tried changing the sizes of the onRollover buttons (in case they were too large and the cursor was hovering over more than 1 at the same time), changing the order of the code for the onRelease and onRollover commands (in case the onRollovers were being superseded by the onRelease commands), and countless variations of the layers and frames.

I'm making a website using flash,And on my movie it says Welcome to Blah Blah Blah,And then a button appears, To make sure my button works,The writing turns to bold and goes bigger,When the button appears it works and goes bigger, Until it reaches the point in the timeline where it has stop();It stops my movie from looping or restarting which is what i want, But it stops my buttons from working aswell, How to keep my button working but movie stops,If you want me to explain more just ask

View 2 Repliesim working on a zoom/pan gallery and i have a problem that i can't solve.URL...the pan buttons are not working but the zoom and reset buttons works. im working on movie the image using the mouse now, if you will hold the image and move it it will drag it on stage.the image is a loader the loads and image and placed on screen.there is a mask on top of it and a frame that indicates the size of the gallery.when the user pan the image loader content i want it to stop as soon as it gets to the gallery frame,but i cant seem to find the best way to do it.so basicly when the image is in 100% i dont want the user to be able to drag it but after you zoom the user will be able to drag it but only to the edge of the frame so there wont be any white spaces.i tried a lot of different ways to do it but all of them are complicated and not working the way that i want them to work.
View 2 RepliesI have three buttons and when I click the second one, the first stops working (e.g. no trace event and it won't go back to the frame "tab1") but the third still works. Then when I press the third button both the first and second no longer work. If I take out the gotoAndStop lines, the buttons work fine. The subsequent frames simply have stops on them.

I'm creating a webpage, and I have made some buttons.Image 1 is the homepage, which is frame 1 in Flash.Image 2 shows that when I rollover the button "Portfolio,"I get a dropdown menu.I have this set as frame 3 in Flash.Image 3 shows that I've gone down the dropdown menu and rolled over "Photography." But if I rollout of any of the things from the dropdown menu, it stays at Image 2 (Frame 3)with the dropdown menu visible. Which is a problem...I want to be able to rollout of these buttons to revert back to the homepage, Image 1 (Frame 1).But, for instance, telling "Graphic Design" to go to Frame 1 on rollout means that if I try to go below "Graphic Design" to "Photography," I've rolled out--and so the rest of the menu disappears.So I want to roll be able to select anything from the dropdown menu, and only rollout to Frame 1 if I go outside the entire dropdown menu, not just one button.

I Have 3 Movies:MAIN.SWF, contains loading movie actions for Nav.swf and Home.swf.NAV.SWF, contains navagation menu loaded on Level 2 in Main HOME.SWF, contains slideshow for home page loaded on Level 1 in Main In NAV.SWF, there is a MOVIE CLIP "graphmc", which contains a BUTTON "graphicbtn", When this button is clicked, I'd like the HOME.SWF (which is loaded into Main.swf on Level 1) to fade out and unload, and load and fade in Graphics.SWF in place of it.

Is that possible? I can get the buttons on the first frame of the MC to work, but I can't seem to figure out how to target/make the buttons on the other frames work? I've got the very old infinite menu posted on Kirupa's site. I haven't done anything but switch it to a vertical menu, but the problem is that I put a button in the menu, the 2nd grey box, with a getURL that just goes to google. Problem is, it won't load the url. I had wanted to put buttons in this menu to get new URLs or do things it flash, but it won't respond.

- frame one there is stop()
- when over, it plays untill frame 30, so the user can click the sub buttons
- when out, it plays and stop at frame 1
these errors are: 1- the following error appears when i load another swf ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable event is not defined. at ELI_fla::MainTimeline/loadSection() at section1_fla::MainTimeline/frame147()

View 2 RepliesI have a set of menu buttons made in flash ac3 (menu.swf). the menu buttons goes with menu.htm for example.I have another swf for example about us (about.swf). this swf goes with about.htm.
the index.html loads the menu.swf and the main.swf.
I hope some expert can point me in the right direction:
Is it possible to make the ac3 code, able to, tell the menu.swf buttons when clicked (on the about button), to go to the about.htm but load the exact frame/label of the about.swf.

I have an FLA that I want to use for a menu I'm making. Currently, the menu is designed for 4 buttons and it has an indicator that slides along under the buttons to show which button the user is on. My menu needs to have 6 buttons. It should be very simple to add 2 more buttons to this piece, but every time add new buttons, the indicator slides way off to the left when I roll over the new buttons I've added, instead of sliding under them like it does with the original buttons. I've attached the original FLA. How to add new buttons without having this problem?
