Is it at all possible to put a image on the background of a text input component? I know I can change the color of the background, but I was hoping I could add a background image to it. IS this possible?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to build a fahrenheit to celsius convertor in AS3. How can I test to see whether what is input into a text input box (flash component) is not a number? This isn't correct but you can get an idea of what i'm trying to do:

The project I'm working on requires older libraries that extend mx components (such as TitleWindow and TabNavigator), I can't use what I know about Spark skinning directly. However, since the project is being programmed using the default Spark theme (with my modifications on top) rather than the Halo theme, I apparently don't have access to the styles I need (namely backgroundImage and contentBackgroundImage which apparently require Halo to be active). Simply setting Halo to be the theme will break other things, not the least of which my own theme.
Plans are in the works to replace the older libraries or at least patch them better to Flex 4, but as of right now, I need a way to style/skin these components without modifying them directly. It would be ridiculous to be unable to add a background image to a TitleWindow's content area! I've searched the internet high and low all day and tried countless variations of styles, skins, selectors, and combinations thereof with no luck. How to add a background image to the content of a mx TitleWindow while using the Flex 4.1 sdk?!
In a component 'Group' I drag multiple pictures at one time I need to clean this component, but contains a component BitmapImage and I will not be erased:

I can not for the life of me figure out how to change the background color of my input text field,I can change the type and stroke color but in cs3 I see no option for background color, and at the same time have the background opacity lowered so the background of the site can be somewhat showing through. like have the opactity of the background color be at 70-80%.

The input_1 box has a 13 character limit. My initial font size is 200, i want to scale down so when the user types 10 letters they fit the box and they don't go out of screen. I want to use one line, so wrap or multiline is not possible.

I've got two files A and B. A generates a random number in a dynamic text box and loads an image as the background:

I'm trying to avoid useing a button to send the number from A to B, and instead am trying to use an event listener that sends the number when A loads background.jpg; but the number never gets sent (I start with B open already, and then open A). I've gotten this to work with an onRelease event for a button , so i know the LocalConnection coding works, but as I said I want to avoid using a button to send the number. I'm sure it's right in front of me but i've got no clue why it isn't working, so I defer to wiser minds.

Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. And above it I want to insert loop video with (i.e.) walking man.So, can I embed video (without flash and any player controls) in page?Can I decode video with transparent background? I have come quite a long way and i have made a site in flash but i just have a question.I have been using an image as my background and i am happy with the way flash automatically scales all the objects in my file but the background image does not scale. Is there a way to do this? I have found out things online which show me how to add auto-resizing to the background but this knocks off the flash auto scaling/resizing for everything else.

i have an one input text box, first i type text into it and press space bar at this it will become empty and ready to accept next input from starting position, i make the text box empty by
textbox.text = "";
but the cursor not set to initial position in text box it consider "" as "space" and cursor will display after one space only, i need that cursor again move to starting position..
Notice full screen Icon at top left. My contact for will not except text when it's in full screen mode.

This code corresponds to a quiz question where the correct answer is either blue or green. I get the #1009 error if I input "blue". The answer "green" seems to work ok. What's wrong with my code? Is there a better way to make is so more than one answer works? Something like "blue" or "green" or "otheranswer", etc..?

My issue is that, the images that i have are small and hence they are being stretched when used as background images. I want to avoid that from happening. How can i do it?
was wondering if anyone could assist me with some actionscript. I am working on a project similar to this (thehideout.org.uk/refuge/) and making the background image move around as if it the scene is a POV.
