Let's say I have array foo and a positive integer y, where foo.length > y.I want to remove elements from foo so that foo.length becomes y (or very close to it).Also, I need to preserve the first and last element of foo. The indices of the removed elements must be spaced apart as equally as possible. Foo can be sliced, or it can be used to create a new array.
Example: if foo = [a,b,c,d,e,f,g,1,2,3,4,5] and y = 6, then trimmedfoo could be [a,c,e,g,2,4,5] or maybe [a,c,e,2,4,5], but not [a,c,e,g,2,4] because the last element of foo is missing.
Can I clear all values from an array and not let any of them be undefined. Like reduce the array size length or some thing. I have MC names in the array and need to refer to vars from the MCs and cant have any be undefined
I am trying to clear out an array but it isn't working how I would like. What function clears elements from an array?Also I have had trouble removing children.It leads to strange error messages, any hints or tutorials on clearing children?
Q. How do I set the width of the array and length and set each of the values in it to the same number.This is for a game im working on. (Tile like you could of guessed.)
Note: I know you use for loops to find the x and y of the values... This doesnt work, but think its how it suppose to work.
My goal is to take an original array and subtract from it the values dynamically stored within another array to return a completely new array.
For instance, the pseudo code might read:
//original array fruitArray = ["Apples", "Oranges", "Grapes", "Pears"]; //when user clicks button a new array is populated with one of the values found within fruitArray, after two //clicks the array might look like: newFruitArray = ["Apples", "Grapes"]; //the resulting array would consist only of these values finalFruitArray = ["Oranges", "Pears"];
I tried concatenating fruitArray and newFruitArray and removing the duplicate values but it's not quite working. !
I have an array that has a lot of values including a lot of 'false' values.Is there any way of removing the 'false' values that is faster than this[code]...
I have an array which I am populating as I navigate through the site. Sometimes due to cicumstances apparently out of my control, I end up with two (never more) duplicate values consecutively placed in my array, here is an example:
I need to run a script at all times that checks to see if this happens, and removes the second duplicate value, as well as it's corresponding key.How can I do this?
what im thinking is each mc loaded is pushed into the array then on the press of a button or keyboard press the array is cleared and the movieclips that were inside the array are removed from the stage. trouble is i dont know how to write that. some guidance would be great.
im trying to use array.length to get the total indexs of the array, before running a loop on all of thoes indexs when i attempt to do this(i added a few extra things for the sake of debugging and understanding)
ActionScript Code: var selectcharacternames:URLVariables = new URLVariables(evt.target.data); trace(selectcharacternames)[code]....
does array.length not work with url variables is it possible to turn url variables into a array(im assuming it is not a array as a reason why this doesnt work)
and i want to show these values on the Yaxis and months on Xaxis....
I have two Qns,
1) how can I pass this array to Bar chart or column chart.
2) how do I need to show months on Xaxis. beacuse I'm asking this regarding, I have kept a filters that even if we want to see some months or a particular months or perticalar span of months... there on Xaxis it need to change the months dynamically depending on the filters..... (for ex, on Xaxis the values should be (Jan, Apr, Jun,Oct) if i select the 3 months period filter....)
I have written a logic to collect the values of those particular months into an array, but not understading how to pass this array to Bar chart,, beacuse there I don't know what Xfield and Yfield to be given....
this problem is blowing my mind i have a for loop that i want to go through my entire array but it seems to not be counting the last element in the arraay!
and the last line of code it spits out is "83 84" meaning that there are 84 items in the array but it only ran through to 83...i dont understand why its doing this.
anyone knows how to pass an array values from an HTML into flash? Well, to begin I'll discuss what am I doing. I edited a twitter widget javascript which search tweets based on the hashtag I needed then passing it on an array per tweet and then displaying it using a <div> it updates once every 5 minutes. Now I want to display those tweets on a dynamic text on Flash. Let's say I will have 5 dynamic text placed on my flash file then; I want each of those dynamic text to have the tweets I have based on on my HTML arrays to be displayed in random.
Array of color id-s represents a 3D Array of values. I've represented each value with a color(Blue is 1, Red is 2 and Green is 3). So for the example the array for the image would be[code]...
Now, I have an array of predefined shapes/objects. I'd like to replace the grouped colors with the shapes that I have. I'd like this to follow the rule of finding the largest shape first and then down to the smallest one. [code]...
I have some variables created on the main timeline and a mc called options which will be where those variables can be manipulated. A way I've tried to this is by creating a first array(array1) and populating it will all the variable names found on the main timeline, and another array(array2) containing the values of the variables the user has changed(which are displayed on some dynamic text fields). To make these changes, an "apply" button is pressed which will set the values found in array2 to the variables in array1.[code]How would you do this so that var1, var2... are updated properly according to the values found in array2?And because array2 contains strings(read from dynamic textfields), how do you deal with that since var1 and var2 are numbers?
Been trying to clear browser cache for the past hour, tried almost everything on google and also went Tools>Net options and cleared it. Yet everytime I load the website it shows the old version.
[code]I want to input a number and find a match for the number, returning the values on the row in to specific fields for each number. For example, if I input the number 10 in an input field, I want the number 1.2276, 0.00100, 106.38 and the rest of that row to output these values I have seen so many options, don't know where to start.
I am doing a flash game with Actionscript 2.0 and have encountered a problem. I have this statement _root.bulletArray = [] that is storing all my movieclips that have been created with attachMovieClip. I was able to store all bullets in the array because when I say for it to trace the array I get the following:
how do I remove objects, in this case of the LoadingItem type loaded by Bulkloader from an array that I've put them in, so that they are being cleared from memory. It doesn't seem to be sufficient to use removeAll or even clear the bulkloeader instance,
What is the best way to clear the contents out of an array or to reset an array?
Say I have 3 arrays that get populated throughout a specific time. I want to be able to reset or clear out all of the data in the array so it is basically a new Array();
I've got an application that has several slides. Each slide has a sound file that goes with it. I created a function on the root timeline that plays the audio sound. Each slide loads one after another and works great. However I have next and previous buttons for each slide. Each button makes the sound channel stop. If I press something too quickly the sound in the sound channel isn't overwritten with the new sound.
So basically I want to know how to remove all sounds from the sound channel so I can load a fresh new sound. Because the stop command only stops the soundchannel until the next sound is loaded and then it starts playing the sound again. It seems like the sound channel is an array of sounds and I don't know how to clear the array before pushing a new sound to it.
