ActionScript 3.0 :: Seek To Cue Point Vs Time
Mar 26, 2011I know seeking to a cue point is known to be inaccurate at times so I'm wondering if the accuracy of seeking to time and secs better. So far I've seen no true difference.

View 12 RepliesI'd like to start playing a web-based video at a specific time, say 2 minutes in, even if the video hasn't been downloaded that far. I thought I could just "seek" to that time but that apparently only works when the video is buffered first.
So for example, this:
Code:
nc = new NetConnection();
nc.connect(null);
ns = new NetStream(nc);
ns.play("[URL]");
ns.seek(123);
video.attachVideo(ns);
Seems to work if you have the video cached or buffered or whatever, but if you don't it gives the "NetStream.Seek.InvalidTime" error, which makes sense. I want to know if it's possible to start playing a video at a specific time, even if the video hasn't loaded up to that point.
Here's my function:
ActionScript Code:
private function onTrackClickHandler( e:MouseEvent,trackWidth:Number):void{
mps.mediaPlayer.seek((skinControls.trackBg.mouseX/trackWidth) * mps.mediaPlayer.duration);
[code].....
I am using progressive download to play video files in a video player. When I seek to a point that has not downloaded yet the video player freezes. The player enters the seeking state and stops playing.Clicking the play and pause buttons has no effect. The video player comes out of the seeking state and resumes playing only when the video file has completely downloaded. How do I implement the functionality where the player when seeked to a point that has not downloaded simply seeks back to the amount that has downloaded.
View 1 RepliesHow can I convert the hslider data format from decimal into an H:M:S?
View 1 RepliesThe problem is that I have an fla video player that uses the netstream class in order to pull a stream (mp4 h264), I've tried this with a few different mp4 files and they all behave the same..Basically, when I goto seek to a position, say 10 seconds into a 300 second mp4, the movie buffer goes blank and my readout of the current time I can see climbing from around 7 seconds and keeps going all the way to the end.. almost as if the seek command is trying to find a keyframe where it can resume from..I'm using http (not rtmp), and thus streaming directly from naive http.After awhile I decided to use the FLVPlayback component, set the source to the same, and it read in some initial metadata.. when I try the movie with the FLVPlayback component I can pause, seek resume to any position without problem, at first I was thinking the problem might have been http related but if the FLVPlayback component works then I'm a little stuck..Also note that I've checked the seekpoints of the movies and there are TONS of them, so the seek command should be able to find a nearby seekpoint to where I suggest.
View 7 RepliesI have a custom video player I've built and have been adding a seek function to it lately. I ran into an issue where seeking backward in the timeline stalled my timecode. I could seek forward and my timecode updated as expected, but seeking backward, my timecode would stall at the current time before the seek was requested. I run a function on netStream.time() in order to set my timecode.

I've been toying around with this RepublicOfCode tutorial and changed a few things here and there.For example, I wanted a play/pause button in stead of seperate buttons. And I wanted a stop button so people can actually stop the music.Now here lies the problem, play/pause works BUT after I've stopped the music, the music will start again with the play button but it wont pause, it will just start the song again and again and again... On a side note, I wanna try to add a volume slider, seek bar, time remaining, and possible (if i can figure it out, probably also has to do with the XML) a playlist.[code]
View 5 RepliesI have used the Dvrcast application with FLVPlayback 2.5.0.26 for playing the dvr video.I have successfully achieved the dvr functionality with that application but i don't know how to update the seekbar max time (ex: while I play the video it the video length say for example 3min after i play the video it is keep on increasing the length since its dvr publishing will continue in other hand).It shows the max time of video when I enter to play the video not the current length of the video. I need the help to achieve this function.
View 12 RepliesI created a flash video player. Could any one show me how to seek unloaded time in flash video player?
View 1 RepliesIs the Flash Video (or Flex VideoDisplay) component capable of seeking to an exact moment in a video?It seems to always 'snap' to keyframes (which is understandable). I'm just wondering if there are any mechanisms in the video classes for seeking to exact frames, ie it should do the translation from keyframe to specific frame in the background rather than having to actually play the video forward to the desired frame.This is not a streaming file and has nothing to do with buffering. The player is just downloading a movie file from the web and playing it from memory.
View 1 RepliesI have a video player that doesnt have "seek from unloaded time" functionality. I want to add it now, but i am having headaches. I sipmly load video like this; stream.play("vidurl.flv"); (pseudo streaming)
Server side is ready. I can call videos like videourl.flv?start=xxx but cant play them in player cuz video comes without metadata
To sum up;
1. stream.play("vidurl.flv"); works, video plays
2. user clicks to seek bar. on unloaded part. i get the position and convert it to seconds
stream.play("vidurl.flv?start=10"); doesnt work! no metadata what i should do after?
I have an FLV playing on my stage with a few Navigation cue points embedded inside and i am having some serious trouble of getting an FLV to stop ON a cue point while at the same time also turn some buttons and movieclips from invisible to visible :!:

View 4 RepliesI want to find out if the user is currently using more than one finger to draw on the screen.currently, the TouchEvent object doesn't have any property like touchCounts, which tells the number of touches on the screen. it just has a touchPointID, which helps to identify a particular touch.
do i need to handle this on my own ? for eg: in the TOUCH_BEGIN event handler i could see how many different unique touchPointID i have received and update the count myself.
start a video playing from a precise point in time?Using rtmp protocol to stream a video:rtmp:\my-servervodmy-video.mp4is it possible to use a similar form, as the following:rtmp:\my-servervodmy-video.mp4 =00:20:21to start video file from that point?

Now what happens is tht only one button is visible or workin at any point of time. But if i use say, "xyz_button" as the params for the about_button. then it works fine. i can see both the buttons. also i tried giving unique names to the button, even that didnt work.
Im pushing Point locations into an array to Shift em out later. like this:

What am i doing wrong?
It's been a long time since I've done any work with actionscript, and alas I've forgotten nearly everything. I've tried to look for a tutorial that would explain basic animation with actionscript, but the one that I found on Kirupa was no longer there.
Basically I'd like to do this:On the stage I have a movieclip and I'd like the movieclip to move along the x-axis to a certain point and then back to the starting point again. The moving speed of the movieclip should also be adjustable.
I'm creating a game in flash for a university project, and learning actionscript and programming as I go. I'm very much still at a beginner level - at the moment al I have is some actionscript for drawing rectangles and moving them about the screen. This is what I'm having trouble with at the moment: I have a class called 'Creature', and I want instances of it to interact with each other. I want them to do something when they come within a certain distance of another instance. And I want them to be able to pick a random other instance to get the location of, in order to do something with that information.
What I think I need is: A function for telling the distance between two (x,y) points.
A way of referencing the nearest other instance of the class. And a way of randomly selecting from all of the instances of the class.
How to convert 3d point to 2d point? I've found next formula in Internet(camera is situated in origin)

But these formulae give me strange result when z are less than zero(z<0) I need build line from A(100,100,100) to B (100,100;-100) As you can see these equations give really strange result when I try to convert B point in 2D dimension
i have the follow issue :
I have a point which is setted at the border on a component, with changed transform point to the center of a component in order to match the component rotation.
the important part is when i try to get the point XY after rotation - they remains the same as before rotation.
how to get XY, after rotation ( changeing point.rotation property to specific degrees of rotaion )
I am using AS2 with Flash 8 Professional So, my problem is that I currently have a man in the middle of the screen, who shoots a line towards the mouse when I click. However, when I use hitTest to see if the line collides with another object, Flash recognizes the line as a large box if it is diagonal, so the hitTest isn't very accurate. The line only satys there for one frame, so I can't have the usual moving-bullet-style. I am either looking for a way to create an imaginary line with AS from the starting point to the mouse and beyond, and tell whether or not this line intersects with an object... or some other way that I haven't thought of to fix my problem. Keep in mind that the line rotates from a center point towards anywhere around it for 360 degrees.

ActionScript Code:
game1.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, fl_AnimateHorizontally_3);
function fl_AnimateHorizontally_3(event:Event)
{
game1.x += 20;
}
Lets say I have two objects, and I want to use action script to draw a line connecting them, which will update automatically as they are moved/ dragged.Can anyone show me how to do that, and also how to control line's parameters like colour, weight etc?
