I've created a form-like input to receive user input in the form of text in a frame. Now, I would like to pass that input into an external text file. I hope to get help to implement this. Let's assume that this app will be only used locally and not over the web.
I'm wondering if purepdf has the ability to save formatted text from a user-inputted text field. If so, how is this achieved? From what I understand, purepdf is basically iText, and I believe iText has the ability to parse HTML and save formatted text into a PDF. Does purepdf have that same functionality that I can tap into and plug in 'textfield.htmlText' somewhere?
I've got an input text and I want to add an event listener when up(or down) arrow is pressed. How can I make this work? input text has it's own -by default- listeners on up and down arrows.
What I want to do is when pressing up arrows focused in the input text to get previous messages and vice versa.
I am using the following code to create the quick word for a translator who is doing a live translation of a chat.
[CODE]...
the word is succesfully generated, only problem is, it deletes all the other text in the text box as well. Is there a way of making a keyboard shortcut which just adds that text on the same row I am on? Otherwise I am also happy to settle for a button which generates this text as long as it does not delete the other text in the text box.
I want to add to custom MovieClip MouseEvent listener. MovieClip contains some text. When pressing on the part of MovieClip that contains text, listener does not react. How can I change that? I want the whole MovieClip to be clickable.
I'm attempting to use the ENTER_FRAME event listener in order to change the text value of a field every 60 frames..I have the strings I want rotated out in an array that is being referenced in the if/else statement The movie doesn't even error out, it just doesn't work.
Is there any way to set a listener when a dynamic textboxs' text is changed via: textbox_txt.text ?
I have a class for my custom buttons and I would like to add this listener to check the size of the textbox and resize accordingly when the text is changed.
I realise that the best method would be to have a function in the class that changes the text and does the check all in one. Problem is - because we're now localising it in loads of European languages I was never expecting to have to change the text size dynamically if the copy is too long. So to go and change it to behave like this would be a bit of a mission, so hopefully there is some sort of easier solution...
Maybe an ENTER_FRAME event that tests for the textboxts' text to != ""
Not sure if I phrased that correctly. I have about 6 pieces of illustrator outlined text.imported into flash, set as symbols with event listeners and works fine. but i notice I can only click on the outline itself, if i click on the inside of an "o" or "R" it doesnt work.I added white boxes behind each of the symbols and that fixed the problem, but now i want to do a color transform on the symbol (the text only of course), but when I apply the transform, its the background box and the text that have the new color applied, just leaving me a rectangle. I gave the box an alpha of 0, hoping if i didn't affect the alpha in the transform, the pointer would still read the box, but no go, it doesnt even see the box again.
I'm trying to use the following code to add a listener to a text field which clears the field, but I'm getting the error: "Parameter Listener Must be Non-Null" This is the code I'm using:
[Code]...
I should add that this text fields starts out on stage as a dynamic text field. In the code above I am changing its type to input, so that might affect things. I am trying to set up the field so that when a user clicks in the text field, a cursor movie clip appears, and the text that was in the field is erased, and that when they leave the text field and click elsewhere, the text is accepted, the textfield converts back to a dynamic field, essentially "locking" the entered text into the field.
I m using a dynamic text field in my app. I have added one Event.Change Listener on it. When I type into it with the keyboard, the event triggers. But when i set some text in it when user performs some action, like textfieldName.text = "test" then the event does not triggers. In this type of situation where we are not using keyboard, which listener should be added to text field to trigger the change event?
I have created a simple Flash object that presents some text; it's a rotation of testimonials. The client wants to be able to edit/add to the items. He's going to maintain the site once it's handed off through the use of Dreamweaver; I've used templates to lock down the sensitive areas, and as it's a CSS based design there are many.
Is there a way to get rotation of text without having to create the media to do it? I've tried to explain that when a page loads, it's loaded -- it's the media's job to play the pretty things. He says someone told him this would be a piece of cake in various content management softwares, but I'm convinced they meant he could edit one area of text as often as he wanted to add/change the text; not that when you loaded the page you could sit there and it would display, sequentially, N number of text bits while you sat there and watched. But I'm asking, because I'm not a genius here, and maybe there's some way to fit this bill that I'm not thinking of.
I need to learn how to create a text duplication effect. As the user is typing a question, the text is displayed simultaneously in another dynamic text box on the page.
Is there a way I can prevent users from delete a text or a character? Say I want the textfield to always show the "$" in front of the number they enter. I was successfully able to do it when they click backspace or delete and then started typing any alphabets. BUT no luck when they highlight the entire textfield and typed the number. The "$" will get deleted, which I don't want that.
I'm building a site similar to vista print. Need to know how to make the inputed text from the user appear on the image as an update. Basically how do i assign the user inputed text to appear on an image?
I was wondering if anyone could please send me info user input text fields. I was wanting to set up a section in my flash site where the user
a) types in their name in first field b) second field they type in their email address c) third field they type in their email message and then hit a submitt button to make their message reach me!
I created a scrolling text box loading an external file, and I added 2 buttons with this code:
[code]...
The problem with this code is that you have to click a lot to see the text, because it goes line by line.how to edit this code to make it easier for user to scroll down and up?
I have an input text box that is about 400pix wide by 5 lines deep. Is there a way to automatically wrap the text when the user gets to the end of the box? As it stands, the text simply continues on the first line past the boundary box, until ENTER is pressed.
I'm wondering if there is a way I can see if a user is typing into a input field.Like if they are typing into the field a variable = 1 And if they are not or the field is empty it is = 0
how can you go to the next text field when user enters a letter.I've created an array that saves the text box selected by the user. The crossword boxs are named from b1 to b59 and within these MC there the a textfield that named - textfld.[code]
i have input text box i want user can enter only number between 0 to 255. if tries to enter greater number thar 255 then it show previous one e.g user entert 64 and then 6, in that case only 64 shown in text box .
I know how to load external text files in AS3 but I want the user to be able to do it from within my excited swf file. The obvious way to do this is to load the text file using a string from a dynamic text field (e.g: "myfile/myTextFeild.txt") but i want it to be more user friendly. If you click file open in Microsoft word, for example, you get the user friendly open box where you can find the file you want to load by browsing through your hard-drive.
