I have a function that returns an array of search results. I have a limit of 7 per page. When they hit 'next' I want to show the next 7 results in the array. How can I do this?

I am trying to use the following code to convert an object read in from a ByteArray to an Array and store it:
var data:Object = ba.readObject();
var invObjects:Array = data as Array;
In debugging, I find that 'data' is indeed populated with the correct data and takes up memory and is in an Array friendly format. However, invObjects is NULL. How does merely saying 'data as Array' make the holding variable suddenly null?

View 3 RepliesIn most browsers, when you have one in focus and you type something, the combobox will try to find the value within its options and show the closest one. I was wondering what kind of algorithm is used for that.I don't think its Levenshtein or similar since it only works with the beginning of the string.I'm thinking that it works by keeping a buffer of what has been written, and tries to find a string starting with that... if it doesn't find anything, it clears the buffer, and searches a string beginning with the last character pressed.I already prototyped this, and it works quite ok, with one caveat... In HTML, when you repeatedly press the same key, it will rotate between all options starting with that character.

To the best of my knowledge, I'm sending the right parameters, in the right structure, but always I get an empty response.The web services panel:

I am loading data in via xml and when doing a for loop to iterate through instead of showing 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 ect... how can i randomize for [i] ? If i do it in the for loop it keeps doing the randomizing and gets stuck and if after things are already loaded. how is it done?
How do I get the following to weight the randomize results 3 to 1 (or 4 to 1) in favor of the Dog?

I am currently in the process of making an image gallery at university over the period of the semester. Eventually it will be able to search through flikr and pull thumbnails from there but for now we are just getting the fundamentals working. Last weeks task was to have the int amount of thumbnails show up depending on the number u placed in the search field.
So in other words i type in 3 in the search field, and 3 placeholder images show up. The problem is having to remove them from the stage and the array so that when u type in 2 or 1 after having typed 3, that it erases the last search results from the array and the stage. This is my code below which half works. It will place however many images you tell it to, but will not erase them next time u press search.

I'm trying to make a memory like game. It might be called Simon or Simple Simon or something. Basically something is shown for a second and then gone, then the user clicks that something. Then two or three things are shown in order and then gone and the user clicks the order.
I'm stuck at the very beginning, just showing something from an array for half a second or so then stopping and then starting over and adding one more element.
Several arrays are created by passing a number (k) from a different array,for every item in the array I need to have a little dot.I have a movieclip on the timeline with a maximum of 15 dots.So if the array has only 6 items, the last 9 dots should dissapear.

View 7 RepliesI'm trying to show and hide a sub menu. So what I want to do is for the sub menu to show up and stay up if certain buttons are clicked, but disappear if other buttons are clicked. I've got an array of the sub menu. If any of the buttons are clicked from the sub menu array, it should stay.

i'm trying to do an image gallery. initially i was not able to display the thumbnails stored in the array. instead it keep showing the same thumbnails. with that solve i'm facing another problem.. i'm keep getting an error Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2124: Loaded file is an unknown type. when i click on the thumbnail to load the .txt file.

I am attaching mc's from the library using xml to populate the textfields. What I am wanting to do is show the first six mc's, then after say 10 seconds show the next six. With a text field displaying "1 of 3", after 10 seconds, "2 of 3" ....etc. A bit similar to image galleries really (sorry if I haven't explained this very well).Anyhoo, heres what I have so far, it loads the mc's one after each other:
