Sep 26, 2005here is what i am trying to do. i would like to post action script files onto my server space for people to download, which i can do. Question is, is it like a print command for them to download the files to there computer for use? or what is the best way to go about this? The files are inside a folder called action script and then the sub folders depending on the file you are looking for.

It is annoying that I am unable to stop the video from downloading as it is a waste of bandwidth and the "progress" event continues to fire and update the UI.

Nov 4, 2009I have a site at www.asylumartists.com , and when you enter the site, it says its loading 23 files. Inside my site swf there is around 12 videos on the main timeline, and each of them are flv components. Also my external swf files are being preloaded with:[code]If you go to the work section and check out a work, it doesn't start to preload right away. This leads me to believe that the content is having trouble starting because its trying to load so many files. Does anyone know a code that stops all loading at a certain frame? Once my site loads, it just stops all cache entrees, and when you select a work it preloads as it should?

Feb 25, 2009I have a simple flash game with two frames at the moment.Most of the stuff that happens is in as files linked to different movie clips.I orignially only had one frame my background frame and when testing I just press ctl+enter and bamm away it goes the actionscript runs as soon as the movie/game starts and ergo the game plays.My problem is this, I now want to have a start/home frame at the beginning (of course) which has the start game button on which when clicked THEN starts the game.Currently the game starts in the first frame along with the start button.How do I stop the game running straight away and my first frame only contains the start button, which when clicked then goes to the 2nd frame and starts the game?

I made a button to go from scene 1 to scene 2, and when I go to scene 2, the swf continues to play from scene 1. How can I stop the swf from playing before it goes go to the next scene. I need to stop the swf when it exits scene. What's the easiest way this can be done. I'm using Actionscript 2.0.

Aug 17, 2010My company is working on a casual game which is entirely made in Flash. To speed up development/compile time we split some of it up into SWC files, for example dialog controls, cutscenes, particle effects are all controlled via SWC files. This was working great up until a few days ago, we have been working on this project for about 8 months with no major problems. However, now all of a sudden, when we compile the game, none of the SWC files work. The game compiles and runs ok, but nothing from the SWC files are working.
The strange thing is that if we remove one of the SWC files from the folder (the game reads all the SWC files from one folder) then the game will work. Even if you remove a SWC which isnt immediately used by the game it will still work. It's almost as if there is some limit to how many SWC files you can have loaded. (There are only 10 SWC files in the folder we are loading from).

Jun 10, 2010I have a main page with a menu that loads into an MC a new MC according to which button is pressed.Now, the loading of the MC works fine but the MC loaded doesn't work because it gets stuck at the loading bar at the beginning of it.
In internet the file doesn't work and gets stuck at the loading bar but when I play the file in flash it works only if I simulate the download so, is it possible to force the downloading of the file also on internet?I put you a bit of [code]...

May 20, 2010We have a very large SWF hosted in a website which is just a repository of hundreds of movies/symbols. We load this SWF at the beginning with the Loader class but then the client will access a very few of them at that moment. Is it possible to tell the loader to download symbols only when they're needed? (as with applicationDomain.getDefinition(...)).

Aug 24, 2009My insuffiecient knowledge about AS2 craves some teaching: I want to know how to add an action to a button within my scene to make it download a file, which is located in the same folder as the .fla and exported .swf. In this case its going to be a .pdf, but I guess my main point is that I just want it to download the file. It should work in both Firefox and Internet Explorer (I don't know if the script has to be different or not?).
