I'm trying to set-up a file download in a swf. It's a autocad .dwg file. I'm using the get url command and it's working fine with pdf's and doc's but getting a "page cannot be found error" with the .dwg file.
We have a very large SWF hosted in a website which is just a repository of hundreds of movies/symbols. We load this SWF at the beginning with the Loader class but then the client will access a very few of them at that moment. Is it possible to tell the loader to download symbols only when they're needed? (as with applicationDomain.getDefinition(...)).
For a project we need to download and save pdf files on an IPAD device for offline use through an AIR for iOs application. After a lot of searching I haven't found much information on this subject. My question is, can it be done, and if so, can you provide us with some pointers to lead us in the right direction.

When I attempt to dowload the flash player I get a window of four possible problems that I might encounter with the download and that is all that happens. What is causing this to occur. I need to download the flash player, but this window stops any further activity
I have an online flash application that acts as a front end for a server application built in delphi. The server can be installed/used on a remote computer or a personal version can be downloaded and the Flash app pointed at localhost to use it. However, Flash has issues with using the POST and GET functions on the localhost, which makes uploading data files and downloading results files difficult. To get past the difficulty with downloading results files I'm planning to just have the server app serve the results file as an attachment and have the Flash app open the address of the file up in another browser window using external interface. First off, is this likely to cause similar security issues? I.E. Flash will see "localhost" in the external interface call and stop it from working the same as when I try to use POST/GET functions with localhost?
Secondly, for upload this seems just a bit little trickier, I'm planning on doing something similar, having flash use external interface to open a php script for a file upload. Is this feasible and, again, will Flash still have security issues?Lastly, if anyone knows how to get flash to execute POST and GET functions with localhost addresses, I'd love to have that information to avoid all this jumping through hoops.
I'm trying to set up flash's FileReference class to download files from a publicly accessible web directory to a specific location on my hard drive, without having to use the browse dialogue that is automatically triggered using the download() method. Anyone know how to predefine a location for the downloaded file so I don't have to trigger the dialogue? [URL].
I'm making a flash portfolio site and learning as I go but have come across a bit of a road block.
I'm trying to allow people to click a button on my site and download my pdf resume. I've gotten it to open in a separate tab using "navigatetourl", but I'd like to also have a button which forces the download location prompt to appear.
I created a website with Flash Professional CS5, ActionScript 3.0, I would like to add the functionality to a button so that it downloads a .pdf file into the user computer, so he can print it. What code should I give the button? and where and how should I place the .pdf file.
Just got a samsung impression. Not very good with displaying webpages and won't accept flash player. Found Flash lite 2.1 while searching for solutions on my laptop. Found a freedowload link, but when I go there on my phone, the site won't give me the option to download. The spot where it's supposed to be says, "wait for download link." Tried it several times.
I am looking for a base to work on a presentation. I am using flash cs4. I know little of actionscript only so i just wondered if there are any template where i can just manage my content to make the presentation instead of coding from scratch. Is there any good site for downloading free flash presentation template?
i have a big flash file that loads in but takes a noticeable amount of time to download. Its a header and i was just wondering if i could have an image instantly appear and then when the flash is downloaded seamlessly overlap it? Just wondering if there was an HTML to do this?
Does anyone know why my flash site displays a white screen before the loader actually works? It kind of defeats the purpose of having a loader. I'm not familiar with xml either so could this be an issue? My swf file is only 2.2 MB
I'm building videochat functionality for a site, using Wowza as the streaming server. I've noticed that when I use the chat on a page hosted on another machine (EC2 in this case) it pixelates, but when I just view a local html file referencing a local copy of the player, there's no problem. I'm not sure why, because even the local copy of the player is sending an outgoing video stream and reading another stream from the streaming server. The only differences between the perfect quality/annoyingly pixelated versions are:
The actual page is hosted locally/nonlocally The .swf file is hosted locally/nonlocally. Does anyone know if downloading the flash player degrades the streams that play in it? And if so, is there any way to get around this?
I have a video player on my site that once paused I would like to prevent rest of the video being downloaded. I am using MediaElement.js for html5 video with flash fallback. It is annoying that I am unable to stop the video from downloading as it is a waste of bandwidth and the "progress" event continues to fire and update the UI.
So to get around Flash security issues, I have a script to upload files to S3 by sending it to a PHP script on my server which then uploads it to S3 with server-side PHP libraries.
Now, I'm looking for a solution to downloading a file from S3 in the same way. I suppose the best way to do it is to somehow make a PHP script that downloads the file from S3, then sends it back to the Flash client?
But the one thing is, I don't want the file to hang around--I'd like to delete it when the process is done. I suppose I can just have the Flash client call another PHP script on the server that deletes the file after the load is finished.
How can I install flash player plugin (version 8) in browser without downloading setup or redirecting to macromedia site if flash plugin is not available in browser.
I am loading an external SWF file into my main timeline. The external SWF file contains an FLV video. At a certain point in my main timeline, the SWF file loads and plays the video. Is there a way to say...
If the VIDEO (FLV) is done playing, gotoAndPlay(X)?
I am working on my first Flash website for my photography, and along with placing watermarks on my images, I want to disable the users ability to "Right Click", and other saving options.
(By the way, I do not know if this matters but I am using "Adobe Flash CS5", on a Mac, running the most up-to-date version of "Snow Leopard". Also, I assume in-order to disable "Right Click" and other saving/downloading features I would have to enter some code; Can you either post the code, or put the website where I can get it?)
I want an air application to be able to update the assets it uses, but minimizing the download needed, so only downloading files added since it last updated.I'm thinking this would include a server portion which would zip the needed files based on a version number? Has anyone implemented anything similar / got any thoughts on the best approach to building this sort of system?
I have a main page with a menu that loads into an MC a new MC according to which button is pressed. Now, the loading of the MC works fine but the MC loaded doesn't work because it gets stuck at the loading bar at the beginning of it.
In internet the file doesn't work and gets stuck at the loading bar but when I play the file in flash it works only if I simulate the download so, is it possible to force the downloading of the file also on internet?I put you a bit of [code]...
