I am looking for a base to work on a presentation. I am using flash cs4. I know little of actionscript only so i just wondered if there are any template where i can just manage my content to make the presentation instead of coding from scratch. If you add a 'Stop' anywhere on in the action script when using the arrow to go back and forward through slides it goes to the stops rather than the beginning of each slide.
I`m working on a presentation template....Powerpoint really sucks! I`m gettin along ok, with fullscreen, presentation mode etc. However, the classic click and goto next slide aint working so good. yet. I`ve been trying to set som sort of action: onPress.Nextframe but it is not working. Also, I`m trying to create the reverse fx, let`s say when I hold down shift (for example) and then click - the "presentation" should play backwards.

I'm trying to allow people to click a button on my site and download my pdf resume. I've gotten it to open in a separate tab using "navigatetourl", but I'd like to also have a button which forces the download location prompt to appear.
I've got a 'powerpoint style' slideshow built in Flash CS5, AS3, using the basic template (ie as on frame 1 root to advance frames on cursor keys). All works perfectly until I get to a MC which has the following script (snippets):

here is what i am trying to do. i would like to post action script files onto my server space for people to download, which i can do. Question is, is it like a print command for them to download the files to there computer for use? or what is the best way to go about this? The files are inside a folder called action script and then the sub folders depending on the file you are looking for.
View 1 RepliesI downloaded a flash template for a website and it includes a looping .wav soundclip that starts automatically when the page is loaded. There is an ON/OFF button that stops it, then starts it again.What I want to do is change the soundclip to a soundclip of my own. The instructions that came with the template say that to change the music, all I need to do is change the sound_Bar movie clip.
When I double click the sound_Bar movie clip, and select the "music" layer in the timeline, in the properties tab I see the following options:
Name: OLDclip.wav
Effect: -- (blank)
Sync: -- (blank)
Loop
I've imported my custom sound to the library, but when I select it, the values change to this:
Name: NEWclip.wav
Effect: -- (blank)
Sync: Event (<-- I can't change this back to being blank)
Loop
Anyways, what happens when I change the clip is that when I click the OFF button, the sound does not stop. Then if I click the button again to turn it ON, it starts the clip again, but overtop of the one that's already playing.Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? I don't really know too much about flash, that's why I bought the template pre-made...so far I've been able to edit everything else, and the music seems to be the last step but is giving me the most problems.
I just recently moved on from tinkering with AS2 to tinkering with AS3. I was wondering what are some of the most useful code libraries and such that make your life easier? For example's sake, take GreenSock's awesome tools, TweenMax and so forth. What would be the best way of building a hierarchical site/presentation with AS3? Meaning a site structured like this, one page having as many subpages to navigate to as you want (probably just three or four levels in the end, structured in XML)
View 3 RepliesI had someone create a template site for me that is pretty simple - a single swf that pulls resources from a directory of xml files and assets. In theory, I should be able to update the xml for my site and provide new assets. I know some code and within the xml there are some <font> tags that over ride the swf's formatting or provide and href.
My problem is that I now have to update our logo, which is hard coded into the source .fla file, which I know how to get in and swap out (the guy who did the work is not available). My problem is, when I publish, the new swf with the new logo does not want to read the <font> tags anymore. I have tried everything and I can't crack this. I've narrowed it down to two possibilities:
1. Something in the Publish settings, though I've tried every conceivable variation to no avail.
2. Something in the .as file that defines page template.
I know I need to provide more info but this is a start. I'm working on a Mac (as was the coder) and we were both using CS4.
I have a template that I want to modify. I want to add two subpages to a products page, and I don't know how to do it. The site is: [URL]. I tried with simple goto but it generates errors. I think of loading a swf when you click on the sub-buttons but that doesnt work too.

Go into project explorer and can't see much AS so how the hwll are they getting the images and text into the flash swf. By the html??? I don't think so.
Looking for a programming book that is in tutorial approach. Example this chapter teaches you how to do a login form. In the second chapter it teaches you how to integrate the login for to another app.Basically I'm looking for a book that teaches you real working application rather than abstract ideas. Programming language I have in mind is Adobe Air/Flex, Visual Basic. Functions I have in mind should at least cover Drag and Drops, Integration to a web form (form entry) and customizable interfaces.The languages i had in mind isn't fix. If you know a programming platform that has little code or easy to learn but still be able to develop a cool application.

If yes why does Silverlight do things more complicated what's the advantages then ? Is it about using Class Interfaces which are more strongly typed? What are the disadvantages also ? For example as for implementing MULTIPLE VIEWS for 1 View-Model does Flex implementation make it also more obvious?

We load this SWF at the beginning with the Loader class but then the client will access a very few of them at that moment. View 2 RepliesI have an online flash application that acts as a front end for a server application built in delphi. The server can be installed/used on a remote computer or a personal version can be downloaded and the Flash app pointed at localhost to use it. However, Flash has issues with using the POST and GET functions on the localhost, which makes uploading data files and downloading results files difficult. To get past the difficulty with downloading results files I'm planning to just have the server app serve the results file as an attachment and have the Flash app open the address of the file up in another browser window using external interface. First off, is this likely to cause similar security issues? I.E. Flash will see "localhost" in the external interface call and stop it from working the same as when I try to use POST/GET functions with localhost?
Secondly, for upload this seems just a bit little trickier, I'm planning on doing something similar, having flash use external interface to open a php script for a file upload. Is this feasible and, again, will Flash still have security issues?Lastly, if anyone knows how to get flash to execute POST and GET functions with localhost addresses, I'd love to have that information to avoid all this jumping through hoops.
I have a flash app that needs to download a file, whose name contains UTF-8 characters.
Internally, the filename is read from a UTF-8 XML file, e.g. "my filé.pdf". The code goes something like this:

The problem is that the URL is encoded in Latin1, i.e. the é is encoded as %E9 instead of %C3%A9 (according to FireBug). How can I get Flash to encode the URL correctly?
I'm trying to set up flash's FileReference class to download files from a publicly accessible web directory to a specific location on my hard drive, without having to use the browse dialogue that is automatically triggered using the download() method. Anyone know how to predefine a location for the downloaded file so I don't have to trigger the dialogue? [URL].
