When not cacheing an HTML page, any movies or anything you load INTO that flash file through loadMovie or loadVars still gets cached... I use senoculars script to prevent this.Use this information wisely my friend i came across this post by lostinbeta to stop cacheing, but the link for the one to stop cacheing files loaded through loadMovie and loadVars doesn't work. know how to get to it, or what the as was?

Preloader Doesnt Work After Cacheing?

I have an app with a preloader - works fine until the content gets cached, then for some reason wont progress to the next slide - Fullscreen mode is set to full (if that makes a difference). It doesnt seem to happen consistently either.

I was messing around with some old examples, and I ran into an unfinished example where several 30k-100k XML files are loaded and stored as a string into an Array. The code looks basically like:[code]Basically, when I trace the 'this', the order of the files that are loaded is off. Out of about 10 tries, about 3 times the order is perfect. The remaining 7 times, the order is a bit off. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to ensure the files are loaded prior to the next file being loaded? I tried placing a while loop that basically delays the clock for a few milliseconds, and that didn't work either. Besides, that is not really a good solution to arbitrarily waste clock cycles.

Flash :: Gaia To Cache Loaded Swf Files?

I used Gaia framework to build a self-scrolling slideshow. There are only 4 pages in all, but I have realized to my dismay that each of these pages are requested over and over from the server. If you leave the page open and the animation goes by itself, that can clobber our server.

What can I do to prevent this? I wonder if there is a way of writing a URLRequest so the pragma header can tell the browser to use the swf from its cache rather than requesting it again?

Note that I am not using SWFaddress so the requests are going to the same URI.

Unfortunately the search function on the site doesnt seem to be working. I have a website [URL]. We have created a loading page so that the user enters the site when the site is fully loaded. Unfortunately this doesnt work for those parts of the website that are being loaded externally i.e. through XML files.

An example of this can be seen on the showcase section on the left side of the Home Page.

Can I also mention that there are over 250 images being loaded externally through the XML files as well as a number of text blocks. I as a web developer are completely against this amount of images but the client wants them in so unfortunately they have to stay.

What I'm trying to do is get the total bytes of all the files I want to load and display the percentage loaded of total bytes and bytes loaded of all the files. Its a slideshow so i want all the files loaded and then it will play. I've looked at bulk-loader but it wasn't what I needed. The image are loaded from an xml file. I think I would need to create an Array and then find out the total bytes but I don't know how to reference the loader in the progress.

I have a site at www.asylumartists.com , and when you enter the site, it says its loading 23 files. Inside my site swf there is around 12 videos on the main timeline, and each of them are flv components. Also my external swf files are being preloaded with:[code]If you go to the work section and check out a work, it doesn't start to preload right away. This leads me to believe that the content is having trouble starting because its trying to load so many files. Does anyone know a code that stops all loading at a certain frame? Once my site loads, it just stops all cache entrees, and when you select a work it preloads as it should?

I spent almost a week trying to figure out how to unload a currently loaded swf using its button and loading a new swf... I have three files, a main.fla, file1.fla and file2.fla. I have a simple flash game with two frames at the moment.Most of the stuff that happens is in as files linked to different movie clips.I orignially only had one frame my background frame and when testing I just press ctl+enter and bamm away it goes the actionscript runs as soon as the movie/game starts and ergo the game plays.My problem is this, I now want to have a start/home frame at the beginning (of course) which has the start game button on which when clicked THEN starts the game.Currently the game starts in the first frame along with the start button.How do I stop the game running straight away and my first frame only contains the start button, which when clicked then goes to the 2nd frame and starts the game?

I made a button to go from scene 1 to scene 2, and when I go to scene 2, the swf continues to play from scene 1. How can I stop the swf from playing before it goes go to the next scene. Professional :: SWC Files Stop Working In Large Project

My company is working on a casual game which is entirely made in Flash. To speed up development/compile time we split some of it up into SWC files, for example dialog controls, cutscenes, particle effects are all controlled via SWC files. This was working great up until a few days ago, we have been working on this project for about 8 months with no major problems. However, now all of a sudden, when we compile the game, none of the SWC files work. The game compiles and runs ok, but nothing from the SWC files are working.

The strange thing is that if we remove one of the SWC files from the folder (the game reads all the SWC files from one folder) then the game will work. Even if you remove a SWC which isnt immediately used by the game it will still work. It's almost as if there is some limit to how many SWC files you can have loaded. (There are only 10 SWC files in the folder we are loading from).

I know how to stop the timeline ( loaded_swf.stop() ) but how to completely stop and restart all actionscripting?

I have a bunch of already-made particle effect swf's and fla's that need to be converted to .mov's, ideally by saving out the frames. I can iterate through the frames by pausing the action on each particle, but it requires me to rewrite a bunch of of the effects.

I'm having a problem with stopping loaded movies

- on Frame1 I have all Buttons and movie names.

- On Frame2, I've created a Movie Clip

- By clicking a link / Button on frame1, the action is to take to Frame 2 and load movie and play. It is working fine up to this part.

Then it is on infinity loop. It never stops. How to stop the movie and take the control back to Frame1 with all links.

All is fine and dandy. But I would like playback of the nested swf to be stopped initially. This can be done by putting a 'stop()' call on the swf itself but I would really like to know if it's possible to do this from the parent movie?

I have a main swf into which has a number of clip instances which serve as buttons to load separate swf files dynamically. The swf I'm testing has stop(); actions on various frames, but when loaded it simply plays through to the end and loops continuously.I was able to use onLoadInit to stop the loaded swf in the first frame, but have failed at various efforts to direct the clip to play again in the manner that I desire- i.e. stopping at the various pause points until a click starts it playing again.

Here s my problem, my stage contains 2 loaders, on the top there s an swf that contains buttons (my menu) and on the botom it loads in my content swf's.works out fine for fotos and so one, but im stuck when the loaded content is a video..

on my videoswf i ve got a play and a return(with stop) button, to return back to a frame to select what video should be played.. those buttons work perfectly, of course

the problem is now, that when i play the video and press a button from the upper loaded swf ( the menu) it loads another swf as usual,.. but the sound of the video still plays (so there has to be a child somewhere)..

now, how can i erase that movie instance when i cant excess it from the upper swf? is there a global value like stopEveryF*thing, or something like that ?

I have created a SWF file using a class I created as the main class for the swf. this swf is a movieclip with a frame labeld "open" and a stop action at the last frame the main class of the SWF:[code]the problem is when I run the open function, after loading the swf it doesn't stop at the last frame. in fact it does not stop in any of theframes that have stop action in them. I have a main movie which loads a movie with buttons, a button is clicked and movie goes to second frame and plays an animation then at the end of the animation it loads the next movie. ToolShopAnim01.swf does not stop on the first frame. I can not figure out why. Sometimes it works, but I can't seem to find the cause of it not stopping!

I've use AS3 Youtube API to load youtube video into my flash file, let's call it youtube.swf

I've a main.swf and it loaded youtube.swf into it's stage.I try to unload this youtube.swf and load in another new.swf, but the sound of youtube still running.

I've insert the player.destroy() in the main.swf but it's not working too.

Any idea that I can destroy the youtube video with the script in main.swf?

I have a project in which the main swf loads another into it. The swf that gets loaded has an xml driven slideshow that runs on a timer. To view what the timer was doing in the output I traced the name of each photo as the timer fired. When I unload the swf I've noticed that though it appears to be gone from the stage the timer continues to fire and the images are listed in the output. I know that I can stop a timer by using

but I can't figure out how to stop the timer in an externally loaded swf. I'm using this code to remove the swf

ActionScript Code: this.mc_content_box.mc_placeholder.removeChild(contentLoader); I'm worried that the timer may be loading the photos in the background somehow and increasing the workload.
