Why Is Loaded Swf Ignoring Stop Actions

Mar 2, 2009

I have a main swf into which has a number of clip instances which serve as buttons to load separate swf files dynamically. The swf I'm testing has stop(); actions on various frames, but when loaded it simply plays through to the end and loops continuously.I was able to use onLoadInit to stop the loaded swf in the first frame, but have failed at various efforts to direct the clip to play again in the manner that I desire- i.e. stopping at the various pause points until a click starts it playing again.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Movie Clip Ignoring Stop() And Looping Continuously

Jul 31, 2010

I have a movie clip, which is loading a portfolio. A movieclip holding the images drops down into the screen and then when the user clicks the return button within this movie clip, it dispatches an "end" event. In the main timeline, I have put in a gotoAndPlay(frameno); in response to the "end" event.

From this "frameno" the movie plays on and is supposed to come to a stop at the end of the timeline. The problem is that it is ignoring the last stop and jumping back to the first frame of the movie. Also, the stop I placed to let the user browse the images, and listen for the end event, is being ignored and the timeline is proceeding as normal and looping continously.[code]...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Stop All Actions In Frame?

Apr 30, 2009

I have a movie clip intro in frame 1 that skips to frame 2, contained in this function:

Code:
skipIntro_MC.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, introClick);
function introClick(pEvent:MouseEvent):void{
if(skipIntro_MC.visible == true && pEvent.target == skipIntro_MC)

[Code]......

Am I right in thinking this is happening because it's still trying to execute actions that were happening in frame 1 (fading in of movie clips using transitions) when it goes to frame 2? If so, how do I stop these actions so this error doesn't occur?

ActionScript 2.0 :: CS3 Stop Actions From Running Across Scenes?

Nov 17, 2008

I am using Flash CS3. I'm new at actionscripting and I do not understand it completely. I have a movie that has a few (2-4) scenes in it. Each scene is like its own "commercial" I created a holiday movie that has snowflakes falling using an online tutorial. The movie works fine by itself, but when I load it as a scene in the movie that has my"commercials", the snowflakes continue to fall throughout the rest of the scenes. The holiday movie has a movie clip that has a snowflake falling straight down. The actionscripting duplicates the movie clip randomly as well as its opacity, postition, etc. I understand what I did during the tutorial, but I'm not sure how to get the snowflakes to stop falling throughout the rest of the scenes. I've tried entering a stop after the script but it just seems to stop the scene there without continuing to rotate through the rest of them. I don't quite understand where to tell it to stop. Somewhere else on the actions timeline? In the movie clip itself? Here is the actionscript code I'm using:

this.createEmptyMovieClip("canvas_mc",10);
var i = 0;
myInterval = setInterval(addFlake,500);

ActionScript 3.0 :: Timeline Actions Ignored When Loaded Into Parent Swf

Jan 25, 2009

If I have a movieclip in my library with some animation on the timeline and actions as well (stops, calls to other methods, etc.) and at runtime I add this clip to the display list, everything works as expected. The actions in the timeline of said clip are fired.If however, I load this file into another swf all the actions in the movieclip are ignored.Attached is a demonstration of this behavior. simply runnning Child.swf on it's own will show nothing as there is a stop on the first frame of the attached clip. However run the Shell.swf (which loads Child.swf) and you'll see the animation of the movie clip. There are no calls anywhere telling anything to start playing. What's worse, the method call further down the timeline and the stop and the end of the timeline are also ignored. Compiling these files and looking at the Output window, you'll see the trace from the method "__testCall" is never fired.Is this a bug with the Flash Player?I've had to use addFrameScript as an alternative to actually having the actions on the timeline. lame.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Put Actions On Specific Frames To Make It Stop When It Reaches The Middle Of The Animation

Jun 18, 2009

basically on the stage I have my Menu movieclip which is linked to an actionscript class called Menu. Within this I have another movieclip, not linked to actionscript, just a plain old movieclip.

This movie in question is a dialog box, and contains an animation for it popping up, and then going away again. I'm trying to put actions on specific frames to make it stop when it reaches the middle of the animation, then when "ok" is pressed the animation will resume and it disappears again. However the actions on the frames don't seem to be getting executed. I tried putting "this.stop();" on the middle frame, and have since put "trace("hello?");" on all kinds of frames but it doesnt seem that the actionscript is getting called at all.

This is something for work so I don't really want to start sending the .fla file around, but instead is there anything I should know about things which could cause the frame actions to not be executed?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Timeline Actions Ovverriding Actions In New Frame?

Jun 19, 2011

I have a series of frames one the timeline. Each frame has a graphic and a mouse click leads to the next frame. Think Myst.

[Code]...

When the middle frame is returned to, clicks no longer change anything. I believe that the actions of the 'left' frame are replacing the one's in the middle frame so then it is told to gotoAndStop to itself.

I'd like to know if that is indeed what is happening and how I can make it stop.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Mp3 Player And Ignoring Button

Apr 21, 2009

Im fairly competent with flash just getting my head around cs3. The problem i have is that i have built an mp3 player with a menu system similar to an ipod (in other words as the mouse moves around a circle and highlights text then the line moves down in the menu window) Now i have that part sorted and what happens is on hovering over the text it skips to a specific frame where the text is highlighted and on pressing the centre button it goes to another frame holding the content I need.

Now the issue i have is after using this part i press the menu button to get to the main frame again to choose another sub menu it works fine and i can come back to the main menu but try and go to the first again and the button seems to keep the same script and it instantly goes to the 2nd frame. This may sound confusing but what i need is a way of telling flash to ignore the previous action of the button and learn the one im currently telling it.

Flash Ignoring Keyboard Layout?

Aug 3, 2005

I noticed that some of my flash movies didn't allow user to input the @ and characters in Firefox. Some did, and some didn't.

Just now I found myself once again struggling against that problem and I just figured out the combination that makes this happen.

When I make a movie with "wmode=transparent", running on Firefox, the keyboard layout is ignored and set to american (i suppose). I discovered this because when testing I tried replacing the "@" for "(at)" and the parenthesis were also out of place (on a portuguese layout, opening parenthesis is shift+8, and on an american layout it's shift+9 - the @ char on a portuguese layout is AltGR+2).

I've turned off the transparent background and it works fine, but in this case I can't get rid of it and placing a note saying "try shift instead of AltGR for the @" seems lame.

Naturally my parser (in AS3) would ignore the all lowercase attribute. Note that the value contained in fooID isn't the problem here but the attribute name itself.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Child Ignoring Mouse Event?

Mar 27, 2009

I want the child of an object to be completely ignored by the mouse, including the parent's mouse event. For the sake of example, let's say I have an instance of a green rectangle movieclip called Green. Green has a mouse click event that traces "Green clicked." I also have an instance of a movie clip Blue that is sitting over Green. Naturally when I click Blue, I don't fire Green's trace, unless I say "Blue.mouseEnabled = false". I want Blue to have an event of its own, tracing "Blue clicked", so I do not set this property. Now, let's say Blue's MC contains an instance of another MC, a red circle (conveniently named "Red"). However, Red is just a part of Blue that is only meant for show. Red needs to be associated with Blue, but I don't want Red to prevent my interaction with Green.

Neither "Blue.mouseChildren = false" nor "Blue.Red.mouseEnabled = false" will prevent Red from firing Blue's mouse event.
