Is there any simple tutorials on how to do this?, i've tried the whole matrix thing but im still having issues when i resize or move movie clips around, to get it align with someones face!
I need to take a snapshot of a movie clip (only a rectangular of a movie clip, not the whole) and to store it in a variable so I can later show it to the user.

View 7 RepliesI have never worked on flash - I used a developer to code a flash based webcam recorder that runs on red5 as backend. He provided me with the swf file and the source like mxml file.This recorder has 3 images and the total size of swf file is 800KB.Now when I load it on my production server - this page takes sometimes upto 10 secs to load. I'm completely lost as to what the reason is and not sure where to start debugging.I'm not sure if the problem is in the flash code or is it that red5 is taking a long time to establish the connection.

View 1 RepliesWe have a flex application and in that we have a screen that taking a lot of time to load, almost 60 seconds.Basically the screen is a very big form. I wanted to divide the form as a wizard but the client wants a single form with Vertical Scroll on. Now there are 8 sections in the form, each section has two form elements (so around 16 form components) but i have divided each section into a separate component of its own as some pieces are reused .So the whole screen is like Form - Divided into 8 sections Each Sections is an mxml components contained in a Almost each components contains two form components kept side to side in horizontal flow i.e something like that.This screen is taking hell of a lot of time to load. How should i speed it up, please tell the approaches.Also the main application doesn't take much time to load, this particular screen is loaded on the click of a button and on clicking the button the screen gets stuck because its taking a lot of time to load.

I want the black area to stretch all the way to the edge of the browser instead of being confined to the stage size. I can't just simply use html to make black areas to the left and right of the flash document because the black is not there from the beginning but rather stretches itself from a line in the beginning of the movie.

But still it is in square shape, because I can't shape my movie file exactly as screen. I tried with free transform tool but it is also not useful. I am trying to move a playing card across the screen from the deck to the players hand. The deck is in a stationary position and each player has 2 card places in front of them which are also stationary. The deck is a movie clip called "deck" and the player cards are named "p1c1" and "p1c2"....(player # card #). The animation I am trying to accomplish is to duplicate the "deck" movie clip and move it to the players card. Once it reaches the players card, the stationary card will load the card image and the duplicated movie clip will be removed to make it appear as a smooth transition.

so, im a uni student and i got a little too ambitious creating an interactive media project for children. long story short im completely lost when it comes to actionscript 3.0.
i am attempting to use webcam movement to make butterflies fly around the screen. i have created all the graphics and I have created the video object and the video input from the webcam, and i know how to make the butterflies move, but i dont know how to import the butterflies in the first place. I created the animation in after effects and have exported it as an FLV. how do i get the FLV to the stage etc.
Basically I have designed a flash interface which puts a moustache over the users face in real time. My lecturer has told me to add a button which will take a capture of the image of the person with the moustace and add the image to a folder.
how to even begin this project, would anyone be able to point e in the right direction or offer a little wisdom on the issue?
Got round to the point where screen grabbing an image and saving it to file is too much, so what i want to do now, is take a snapshot of a live webcam image (I have webcam display working) and display the snapshot/screen grab, next to it or anywhere in the movie. This way the screen capture can be stored temporarily in the movie. once the movie is closed, all info is lost. Once another screen grab is taken, then the previous one is overwritten. The idea is simple but having problems working out how to do it in AS3!
I have got to the idea that i may need to use the Bitmap API to copy a section of the movie, and then redraw it into a new bitmap object?

View 2 RepliesIs a command for AS2 to make my movie file play fullscreen (stretch, fit to screen, anything).
goFullScreen(); is great but it leaves white bars left and right. What's odd is that I'm using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and it seems to display a perfect widescreen that I want as an input and output but once compiled in flash, it's more square leaving me with white bars left and right. The frame for the video in flash is also widescreen looking.
edit: I ended up stretching the width of the frame but if there is a better way through a command that would make my life easier so I don't have to adjust to every monitor that I run this on.
My question is what needs to be done in order to make a .swf file go into full screen without falling to a black screen when a movie is played? I have tried coding it, however I come up with the following error.

View 17 RepliesI am pretty new to ActionScript 3 and Flash. I don't want my movie clip to play unless the person's mouse curser is on the movie clip for more than a second. If the person just runs their curser over the movie clips really quickly, then it should do nothing. It must be more than a second. How do I code that?

I'm creating a small drag & drop activity, and I want to be able to check and see if the dragged movie clip is completely within the bounds of another movie clip (or at least in the bounds of a certain x/y zone on the main stage. I can't use dropTest because it returns true if any tiny bit of the movie clip overlaps with the dropTest movie clip.
I also thought of something that just checks the x/y coordinates of the dragged movie clip, but I'd need this to reflect a range of values rather than one coordinate. For instance, I'd want to return true if the movie clip's x is between 50-60 AND the y is between 50-60. I'm attaching a small graphic to illustrate in case my explanation isn't clear enough [URL]
