ActionScript 3.0 :: Use Webcam Movement To Make Butterflies Fly Around The Screen?
Apr 14, 2011
so, im a uni student and i got a little too ambitious creating an interactive media project for children. long story short im completely lost when it comes to actionscript 3.0.
i am attempting to use webcam movement to make butterflies fly around the screen. i have created all the graphics and I have created the video object and the video input from the webcam, and i know how to make the butterflies move, but i dont know how to import the butterflies in the first place. I created the animation in after effects and have exported it as an FLV. how do i get the FLV to the stage etc.
I'm trying to make some butterflies move around on a mouse over. The catch? I'm trying to get random movement but not in straight lines, rather I need curves (or lots of very short lines) as butterflies are not on rails. My AS is pretty weak in this kind of area (or any area)
Basically I have designed a flash interface which puts a moustache over the users face in real time. My lecturer has told me to add a button which will take a capture of the image of the person with the moustace and add the image to a folder.
how to even begin this project, would anyone be able to point e in the right direction or offer a little wisdom on the issue?
Got round to the point where screen grabbing an image and saving it to file is too much, so what i want to do now, is take a snapshot of a live webcam image (I have webcam display working) and display the snapshot/screen grab, next to it or anywhere in the movie. This way the screen capture can be stored temporarily in the movie. once the movie is closed, all info is lost. Once another screen grab is taken, then the previous one is overwritten. The idea is simple but having problems working out how to do it in AS3!
I have got to the idea that i may need to use the Bitmap API to copy a section of the movie, and then redraw it into a new bitmap object?
taking a screen grab of a movie clip while the webcam is on..
(the end goal is to create an app where people can put funny stuff on their face e.g an eye patch ect..)
Is there any simple tutorials on how to do this?, i've tried the whole matrix thing but im still having issues when i resize or move movie clips around, to get it align with someones face!
i want to know if it's possible for as3 to detect someone moves the flashplayer window, and if so, get it's new XY coordinates. And, again, if so, change them itself (aka position the flashplayer window)
I've created a game which Made up from images. Now I want to load the externally. I used Loader component, but between movement from frame to frame (it's a game I create) the screen blinks. How do I solve this with no use of preloaders?

How can I make a action script controlled print screen that will save a part of a screen And can I filter a color out of it (so that only that one color will NOT be visible on the saved img) with AS
I want to make a box come from off screen then bounce back and forth and then come settled down in the middle of the screen. It can be random bouning intervels or a set amount.
I've been trying to attempt to make it so a .flv video will fit to the entire screen of the browser window. ( I already have my .swf file fit to re-size to any browser on any computer. I just can't figure out how to make the video as well) And obviously an external video so the flash file wont take forever to load. The point is this is to be able to have the Video be the background. So I may put content (Links, information or whatever else) on top of the video.
I have a flash project that's implementing a simple two player game. I have added an enterFrame function to my main movie which listens for keyboard activity in order to move a cowboy gunslinger. Whenever the cowboy moves, I send a message over a socket to a server which dispatches the movement to the other connected client. This works pretty well, however, the movement messages tend to arrive in clumps which results in jumpy animation of my cowboy on my opponents screen and jumpy animation of his cowboy on my screen. To illustrate, i put a trace in my enterFrame function because I am imagining that this function will run roughly once each time my main movie renders the screen. I also put a trace statement in my function that responds to network traffic and moves the remote player's cowboy on my screen.
Here's the output: enter frame:4 enter frame:4 enter frame:4 client movePlayer running client movePlayer running client movePlayer running [Code] .....
As you can see, I'll get several messages in a row from the remote client which instruct me to move their cowboy ('client MovePlayer running') and they will all run in a row before the screen updates. I'm guessing I should be using something like updateAfterEvent but this method is only provided by Mouse, Timer, and Keyboard events.
So a few questions: 1) Can someone recommend a good approach to force a screen render each time an incoming movePlayer event arrives over the socket? It's important to note that my function for handling these events has no visibility to the original socket data event. 2) Am I right in understanding that the enterFrame function of my main movie happens once each time my movie is rendered? Is there some more accurate event to which I could attach a trace message so that I better understand the relative frequency of the render events and the socket events? 3) Does firing an updateAfterEvent call force onEnterFrame events to happen more frequently? I'm worried about destroying performance by inadvertently firing more enterFrames which would fire more socket events which would fire more enterFrames, etc., etc.
My question is what needs to be done in order to make a .swf file go into full screen without falling to a black screen when a movie is played? I have tried coding it, however I come up with the following error.
[Code]....
What should I do to fix this? This is not going to be an HTML file, however, so the initial thought of changing the publish settings does not seem to work this time.
I have problems with webcam streaming in AS2. In AS3 I can make it visible on stage with a Camera.get call and a Video object. Because of some reasons in one of my works I have to use AS2. Can anyone provide me a working code to make visible the webcam's picture on the stage? I use the following code, but it doesn't work:
var cam = Camera.get(); //it's okay I can see the real camera name in the name property var vid:Video; vid.attachVideo(cam); //... and nothing happens on the stage Why? trace(vid) returns "undefined" Why?
i'm trying to make an augmented reality game..my game will be composed of a main menu..and in the main menu you can either choose to start a new game, option, and exit button, what will i do to make my background a webcam view when i click the new game button??
I'm trying to write some apps that will include some image processing for facial, object recognition. There's a ton of stuff out there (mostly from 2009) that doesn't work very well and I want to give it a try.
Anyway, I have the webcam feeding a video object I've addChild()ed to the stage and that works aces. I want to make a copy of that video stream and plop it on the stage right next to it. This works, but the framerate suffers:
Code: public function update(event):void { //onEnterFrame var bmp:BitmapData = new BitmapData(_video.width/5,_video.height/5);
[Code]....
So this puts a pixelated version of the webcam feed right next to it just like I wanted, but it seems to lug down the processor. Logic would tell me that I'm piling on infinate amounts of "goat" to my movieClip (mc). I try to dispose() the bmp, but then it stops working.
Im looking to make the brightness of footage being captured by a webcam as a trigger to start or stop an event or animation. basically when the brightness being captured by the webcam goes below a certain level a layer will be effected and when the brightness goes back above this level it will revert back to its original state.
I have a map of the US and each state has a rollover that changes the color of the state...what i am trying to figure out is how to click on the state and have text appear to the side of the US map and have that text stay up until the user clicks on another state.
I've been searching it everywhere, but couldn't find anything in the net. I want to make smooth line movement. I've tried to create motion, but line just moves, and I want it to move smoothly according to the path. What I want to achieve can be seen [URL].. that's what I did so far - made movement out of several broken lines
I have an object on the field, 'ball', and three buttons: 'left', 'right', 'stop'. What I want is that when Left is pressed, ball starts travelling to the left at a speed of 7. Same with RIGHT, and STOP stops the movement. What I don't want is that the ball moves only when you hold down the LEFT or RIGHT buttons, which is all that I can achieve so far.
All I want is my circle to go across the page and to keep looping. My circle is moving great with this code: onClipEvent(enterFrame) { speed = 9; this._x += speed; } What do I add to make it loop?

I have made xml gallery with thumbnails, following kirupa's tutorial [URL]. Everything works perfect, but I need to add some more interesting movement on horizontal scroller of thumbnails. For example, thumbnail starts to move quicklier, then they slow down..etc. How can I make it? With some ease, tween class...?
I am doing a really simple flash piece and was wondering if someone could help me real quick...all I want is my circle to go across the page and to keep looping. My circle is moving great with this code:
Making an Flex App. Just wondering if anyone has created something that fits automatically to the users' screen size and how I go about doing this? One of the principle things is that I need an background image, which is obviously going to have to scale / resize to match the users screen.
