ActionScript 3.0 :: Toggle Direction As Object Reaches Ends Of Frame

I am trying to achieve a "Knight Rider" KITT animation where the rectangle slides back and forth between the edges of the frame.The problem is I can only get the rectangle to move in one direction and then it back-steps and keeps moving in that same direction right off screen.How do I get the toggling effect?[code]

I am trying to make a bowling alley type of game. I want the ball to change angle when it reaches the gutter, but the problem I am facing is, how can I check when the ball has reached the gutter as the bounding box for a line/box in perspective is bigger and I want to check any point on the line when the ball is passing/crossing that point and moving so that I can change its angle and direction. I am a first time flash-maker, and I sure how to get things to work as planned.I have written the following code:

But my problem is that i have a motion tween that startes at frame 5 and ends at frame 25. And the code says that at will go to and stop at frame 25.what I really want it to do, is to go to frame 5, play the motion, and stop at frame 25.

I need to create a script that will jump to a certain frame in the scene when a movie cilp reaches its last frame. Putting a goto... within the MC itself doesn't work. I assume that I need to create a listener of some sort....I haven't been able to find what I need in any documentation (and I'm even been looking through AS dictionaries going back to Flash 4).

I have a timeline that has some label frames at the very end of the timeline. During the timeline a user will hit a button on a frame and will jump to one of the label frames. On the label frame is another button that when clicked - returns the user to the previous frame. How do I make the movie return to frame 1 - without a button - but before it reaches the label frames? In other words, by simply reaching a certain frame in the movie, I want the timeline to go back to frame 1.

I have been playing with this idea for a few hours and now I'm completely miserable,I have two movieclips, mc1 & mc2. mc1 is palying a simple animation.I want to write a script so that when you rollover mc2, it checks mc1's frame number. if mc1's frame number is for example "10", it should play its own animation. otherwise is should wait until mc1 reaches frame "10" then play mc2 animation.

I'm using Fl for the first time and I'm trying to create a slideshow. Everything was going fine until I realized I had spaced out the different image timelines too far to the right. Now that I've moved them all leftward I have these blank ends that make the slideshow end with a long empty nothing. How do I cut those timelines off to eliminate that dead time?

I am using flash cs3 and I have a series of quotes that fade in and out. I have a movie clip that does the fading in and out and then nested in there I have the quotes.
fadeInOut1_mc (is the instance of the fading in and out)
quotes1_mc (is the instance of the timeline of quotes nested in the above movie clip)

When the quotes end I would like the main timeline in Scene 1 to move to the next frame and play.
fadeInOut1_mc is in the timeline of Scene 1
If I could do that I think I'd be off to the races, but I'm stuck on it.

I have a movie clip on stage which length is 600 frames. I put a actionscript 3 code "stop();)" at the end of movie. it stops when it reaches to 600 frames but it disappears from the stage as well. Which I don't want. It should stop animating but stay with last fram which has a welcome message.

When the last frame of the external swf is reached, I want the button to go to the next frame of the main timeline (which in turn loads another external swf and the process repeats itself over again).

I have this custom video player I'm making. I need some way to react when the externally played flv file reaches a certain point in the movie without embedding some extra data on the flv file. I am looking for this because I want to react at the 90%-99% point of the movie because I didn't like the behavior I'm getting when I react when the stream completes playing (I want a bit earlier). How do I achieve this?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Removing An Object When It Reaches A Certain Point

I have a rounded rectangle that the x and y values will always stay the same. However it rotates around and it's height is increased (it follows moving targets). (Think of it as a turret that shoots out a beam of light that will always be anchored to the turret on one end but it gets longer and rotates so that it constantly tracks the moving targets) I want to remove the object when it moves off the screen.

Normally I would just do this with:

(if myObject.x >= 550){
removeChild(myObject);
}

and the same for each other direction of the screen. However, as mentioned, it's not the x and y values that are changing - it's the height that's changing.

Now I've tried just swapping out 'x' for height:

(if myObject.height>= 550){
removeChild(myObject);
}
etc. for the rest.

But the problem with that is that if my turret (the anchor point for beam of light) is closer to the edge of the screen (i.e. it's x is 500), then it will take a couple of second's for the light beam's height to reach 550.

I have a menu with 4 movieclip buttons (movieclips that act as buttons) that when pressed make the timeline jump to a certain frame. The mc buttons have both "onrollover" and "selected" states. However the timeline also moves on its own, even if no button is pressed.

I need the buttons to assume the "selected" state when the timeline reaches a specific frame (as if the button had been pressed to make the timeline jump there). But I can't figure out how to do it althought I think it must be quite simple.

This is the code I'm using (controls the buttons and its on the first frame of the main timeline)

I'm building a simple 360 degree image rotation effect using single frames and forward and back buttons. I'm new to AS3 and have managed to create functioning buttons... (so my code may be a bit odd!)But now I also want to advance frames by clicking and dragging on the image itself (or on an invisible button sat on top of the image).Although there are some threads here which have asked the same thing, I don't understand how they were answered. I've got a movieclip which follows a predefined path (like in those tower defense games). Normally the mc changes the direction it faces with Math.atan2 method and then rotates the movieclip, but because this game is in a tilted view( in stead of directly from the top) I need it to change the frame in the MC according to the direction it's facing.
