ActionScript 3.0 :: Unload The Current Swf File When I Click On The Other Button?
May 4, 2010
I have this menu that I am loading my swf files under a as. file and linked to a xml file. It loads perfectly my swf files when i click on the buttons, but when i keep clicking the buttons, it keeps loading it on top of each other...How can i unload the current swf file when i click on the other button.? under the as file i have the following to load my swf files:
private function customFunc(link):void { var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(link); var loader:Loader = new Loader() loader.load(request) var swfContainer:MovieClip=new MovieClip ; this.addChild(swfContainer) swfContainer.addChild(loader);; trace(link);
}
I have a menu set up with several buttons (on the left side of the screen), each of which loads an external swf (on the right side of the screen). Within some of these swfs are more buttons to load other swfs, and the menu on the left remains active while another swfs is playing.What I want is to unload the current swf whenever a button is clicked and load the new on in the same spot. So before I was using addChildAt to get the external swf's at a certain level, and then removeChildAt to take away whichever swf it is and then add the next one. That didn't stop the sound, so I switched it to unloadAndStop and set up a function that unloadAndStops each individual swf, like this:[code]
That function runs every time a new swf is called to remove the previous one.Now I know that's not what I should do since I'm effectively using a method on objects that aren't in the display list, and it's apparent since it messes up the text later on in the timeline. But I don't know any other way to get everything to unload and to stop all the sound. It would be a headache to make specific paths for the buttons within swf's, but I don't even know what I'd do about the buttons in the main timeline that don't know what swf is playing on the right.I've searched lots of different forums for this one, for something kinda like unloadAndStop and kinda like removeChildAt, so I'm thinking I need to reorganize this project somehow
For a project, I have a main page that for each button loads a swf page, that contains a photo gallery, now, for each of these pages, I want a main button, that can return the user to the main page to select another gallery, I have gotten it to work, but it doesn't really stop the gallery, and judging by my memory usage, it seems that it is still running in the background. For the main page's buttons, [code]...
I have an external swf that is loaded at frame 2 of the main timeline. The external swf has code that plays an flv, i've pasted the code below for the button that navigates the play head to the fram label 'frame2'. I want to know, how can i unload the external swf after each button click? Does the code for unloading have to go to in the button code or the main timeline?
I'm making a mp3 player using flash. when i test the movie it starts playing fine but when i click the next button the current track keeps playing while the next one starts. plus the stop button it's not working. here is the code.
Take a look at this site. [URL] You notice when you click on a button the current 'site' you are on dissapears befor the next one loads. How is this done? It's like the code tells flash first to 'close' the current page and then load the page you clicked on.
I can load swf file from nav buttons. Gallery page is my default page. When I click about button I want gallery.swf to unload and about page to show up.Currently, gallery page is still in the background when I click about page.Gallery page is removed if I click about page again. How do I fix this?
var pageLoader:Loader = new Loader(); galleryBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, galleryPage); function galleryPage(e:MouseEvent):void {
I'm building a website & I'm using External Swf's, Everything works fine, but on some pages, e.g "Videos" loads fine, but when I try to click a button into another SWF, it reloads the current SWF "videos" again,, is it something in the preloader script or something,
This code that's attached to the current file works fine when you have it just in the time line. but when i put them into external files they dont work.
The problem is when you click the green box, it loads the "book" fine, when you click the "x" button it doesn't unload i am unsure how to fix this.
I have attached the test file here so you can have a look at it
I am working on a school project that requires me to load external .swf or .jpg files. I currently have all of the buttons working and are loading an external .swf file on to the screen. The problem I am having is that when I go from one button to the next the loaded .swf stays on the screen and the next .swf gets loaded on top of it. I know that I need to unload the file but I am not sure where to put the code for the unload or what code exactly to use. I would like when the button is pressed to unload the previous loaded .swf and load the new .swf without having a separate button to unload.
I can load the image by pressing the green button (see attached file). However, How do I UNLOAD the same image by clicking onto the image, rather than adding another button on my main flash file. This means that as soon as the image is loaded, the user can click on the same image to unload it.
i have looked everywhere for a tutorial on this - i have tried writing, and re-writing codes....i just cant get it. is there any tutorial i overlooked? here is what im looking to do - NO SHORTCUTS: have my main file that loads the buttons, my external swf container, my intro animations, and my swf "out" and "in" animations when a button is clicked i want it to point me to specific frame labels. i will have an "out" and "in" frame label and which will be the locations of the transitional starting points i want it to play the "out" transition, than unload the current swf, than play the in transition, than load the swf of the button that was clicked i want the animations to all be done using frame labels all within the MAIN swf file.... i have had no luck doing this....and i do NOT like the tween class....
The code works but with an issue. When I load an image it replaces the current one loaded but when I alpha tween the image to zero I see both images fading out on top of each other like the first one is still loaded but underneath the current one. Any body run into this before?
var imageLoader:Loader; function loadImage(url:String):void { // Set properties on my Loader object
I have created two buttons for separate audio files. Essentially if you click on the button it will play and stop. This works great! I have also injected a SoundMixer.stopAll(); to ensure if you click between both buttons that it will stop the current audio file to play the next one. My problem is when I select the 2nd button for the first time everything seems to be working...it's when I attempt to click on the first button again, that it will require 2 clicks and then it stops and plays accordingly...anyone know how I could eliminate this annoying two click process?
I am using video so I want everything to be single swf files and then I want to link it all, I followed the flash site tutorial to set up my flash site, it worked ok except when you click my button and the swf file loaded it played under the scene I was on. I want to click my button and have it take you to the new swf file and I want the old one to go away. Here is the code I used,
Using AS3.0, how do I load an external swf file when I click a button? Also, how can I get rid of that swf file when I click a different button on a menu?
Tried to use geturl and that does not solve, for I want the button click to cause the browser to actually download the file, not play it. With geturl, some browsers will play the mp3 and the user is left wondering still how to download it to their own computer.
This is code I was trying to use to cause button link to cause file to be downloaded. I have 6 files, was going to make this for each button. But it doesn't work.
ActionScript Code: demo_audio.mtdemo.onPress=function() { var request:URLRequest=new URLRequest("fielnamehere.mp3");
I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?
I have a class file which prints a flash object. I don't want the print job to activate until a button is clicked. The print activation is a package and referenced by the document class. How would I code this to activate only when a button is pressed/ Currently it activates when the movie is played.
I have created a flash file that I will export as an SWF. It is to go on my web site. The one problem I have is that I need to put code in the flash file so that when you click a button it allows you to download a file from my website to your desktop. How do I script this?

I am creating a library like flash file for our game. I am using adobe flash cs5 with as3 and adobe indesign. I am still very new at flash(a real newbie) and i am wondering if anyone could help me in my problem.

The 1st button contains the name Art_btn which calls the movieclip artBook when the button is clicked (which is my problem) . I have another movieclip named "artBook". the contents in my artBook are separated or written on each frames that could be called when clicked next or prev.
here is my prob. i dont know what is the right code that would call for artBook when Art_btn is clicked.i tried inserting codes such as loadMovie, gotoAndPlay and addChild but when I test it, the mainPage contents doesnt show up and it produces errors.
In my game I would like it so once I have died you can click the 'Main Menu' button and it will take you back to the main menu and clear everything else which had been going on.
But at the moment as seen in the flash file attatched once you have died in the game a child form appears with two buttons on it 'Play Again' and 'Main Menu'. On clicking the 'Main Menu' button as you can see it takes you to the main menu but all the stuff from the previous frame are still there in the background.
I am building a flash website for a friend and I have managed to load an external .swf file to the .fla project. My problem is, that when I test the movie out, I can't manage to remove the .swf file at the click of a button. For example, if button 3 is clicked, it should show the picture gallery, and when the user clicks button 4, the picture gallery should disappear. [code]...
