ActionScript 3.0 :: Use Arithmetic Operators On Objects?
Jun 19, 2009
Does anyone know if it's possible to add objects as a whole together using operators rather than breaking them apart or using object.method() format? Below is a simple example of what I would like.
Want to do:
Code:
var obj1 = new MyClass(1,2);
var obj2 = new MyClass(3,4);
obj1 += obj2;
Some computationally intensive software are now using the GPU to solve mathematical problems. Now that flash has GPU support, is it possible to use flash to crunch math problems? How would it be done. In other words, does flash expose sufficient low level API to control the behavior of the GPU sufficiently to perform such a task? Example of problems; Find a message with the following hash: 2987432847298374298374982374
var oth:Number = uup[0]+dup[0]I'm trying to find the sum of two array values and I'm just getting a concatenated string of the two numbers. What am I doing wrong?
I have been placing 'numbers' into an array via an input text field. Then on completion, I want them to be added up and the results displayed. However, what seems to be happening, is that the numbers going into the array are being read as Strings .. no good.
Code: var num_ary:Array = new Array(5,9); num_ary.push(input_txt.text);
There is more to this script, but I cut it down to this in order to focus on the error, which results in a joining aa and aaa. i.e. aa=36 aaa=4 results in a=364, where what I want would be a=40
I'm making a simple calculator, where user can enter values into textboxes and then hit the calc button. E.g. this.sales_txt.text = "8.50" this.buying_txt.text = "3" var marginPerLitre:Number = parseFloat(this.sales_txt.text) - parseFloat(this.buying_txt.text) trace(marginPerLitre) // = 5.5 <-- I need the output to equal 5.50
i came across these things called bitwise operators. After some research i didnt get any further than the fact that they alter bits directly. Then i read something on shifting bits and stuff, and that this would be more efficient it this got me confused. Can you use them to optimize your code? Can someone give some examples of this, like a function and his alternative (using bitwise operators)?
I'm trying to pick out the full "player" profile (xml..profilename) information about the player when the name matches eventPlayer - but all I am getting is "True" or "False" - What am I doing wrong?

I am hardly getting experienced on Actionscript3 but I sometimes get stuck.I want to use complex if function. what I am trying to say is;if, gezegenler.rotation not equal to 0 or 120 or 60 info text = ajdusting.
ActionScript Code: else if (geegenler.rotation !==0||120||60){ bilgi.text = "adjusting....";}
is this usage possible or not Also, use stage as an event listener to update the textbox. But the event is mouse event and mouse move.. are there any muuch reliable ways doing this? Because when I do not move my mouse it does not change.
For the calculator i am creating i have so far got all d buttons inputting into the display area such as the numbers and the operators. However for the operators when i try to store the value into two number variables 'num1' and 'num2', i traced them to test if they were working fine however they output as 'NaN'. here is the code i have so far and the highlighted area is what i am working on currently
ActionScript Code: import flash.events.MouseEvent; var btn:Array = new Array(); for(var i = 0; i < 10; i++) {[code].......
I need to see if the number is stored when i click on d operator. In the trace It is meant to display the number entered after i click on a operator but it displays as 'NaN' I am guessing all of that function has mistakes. it is function pressOperator i am working with
I have a very strange problem with the Auto Format feature in Flash CS4. Sometimes, when I click on Auto Format, it takes away all the spaces between operators and their keywords. But sometimes, it doesn't. why, and how I can prevent this from happening? I REALLY hate it when the IDE does something I don't tell it to.
So i think i have fully coded my calculator but it still doesn't seem to be performing the calculations correctly. I can't see where i am going wrong. If i perform a calculation let's say 6*2 it outputs NaN then i straight away + by let's say 5 it outputs NaN again. And it doesn't make the operators display only once, so if i click on '+' twice it will display twice in the display when it is meant to only display once and in one of my functions i cleared the display field so that it would replace the number's when the next operation is performed but it doesn't seem to be doing that. I have been going over the code several times but i can't seem to identify where the problem is coming from.
I'm using AS3 in timeline. I'm working on a multiplication game. The idea is to count the number of correct and incorrect answers and give the user a final count. I have several dynamic text boxes: box1 and box2 will multiply each other.box3 = input box; user inputs answerbox4 = message displaysbox5 = correct1; displays correct countbox6 = correct2; displays incorrect count buttonsbt_1 = checks answersbt_2 = resets problems PROBLEM:I CAN'T GET BOX6 COUNT THE INCORRECT ANSWERS. HOW CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM?
I'd really like to be able to make Flash's array access syntax 'wrap' over the array's bounds.
Lengthy explanation -
var array:Array = ['a','b','c','d','e','f'];
To keep things simple, the first index is 0, and its value is the first letter, 'a'. To get that value, we'd do this -
array[0]; // returns 'a'
As long as the index you're using to access the array is between 0 and array.length (6 in our example,) everything works fine - but if you use an index outside of those bounds, you're shut down.
array[-3]; array[9]; // both return 'undefined'
Sometimes that's a good thing - sometimes you expect that to happen, and you're fine with it. Other times, you find yourself wishing (or at least I find myself wishing) that it'd behave a bit more like this -
array[-3]; array[9]; // both return 'd'
(e.g. a photo gallery that jumps back to the beginning when you click 'next' on the last photo)There's a little chunk of code I use over and over for this sort of thing, but it's always to alter the index before passing it into the array:
var index = -3; while(index < 0){index += array.length} array[index % array.length]; // returns 'd'
... and that's fine, but what I really want to do is extend the Array object itself so that it'll automatically 'wrap' index values that go out of bounds.TL;DR - Is index-wrapping possible by extending Flash AS3's Array object?
What i done there i draw a box and made it to movieclip and instance named it hook and created a invisible dot and called it dot. Then I calculated distance from box to the mouse then i took that number and put it in Math.cos command. And finally i made tweener to change box scale depending what my mouse distance from it.So if my mouse is close the box is big , if far - box is small. Ok, I want to know is there another way to do this ? Cuz , i cant think of other way to change arithmetic positive progression(like 3,6,9,12) to negative progression(like 12,9,6,3) than Math.cos command.
private function bitwiseAnd(a:int, b:int):int { var result:int = 0; var n:int = 1;[code]....
So basically all I need then is bitwiseOr and bitwiseNot and I'm set.The reason is that Pixel Bender doesn't support bitwise ops (inexplicably) but does support various math operations. Also they don't support loops for Flash either, but the above can just be expanded out.I thought about doing bitwise ops without bitwise operators a while back, but couldn't picture how to do it. I wouldn't know how the above was derived logically either.
Internally Flash obviously keeps a list of the primitives drawn using Graphics so I wondered if you have many such primitives in a Sprite, can you re-position/remove/alter individual items rather than clear and re-draw everything? Or is this deeper into the bowels of Flash than you're allowed (or recommended) to go?
I'm using Zend AMF to send my remote objects to Flex. I've defined a Constant class and created getASClassName() method. Then I've created Action script class in flex.
Objects are send successfully, but they are deserialized to generic Objects in Flex instead of specific ones. EDIT: On network monitor in Flex I can see that AMF value is set to com.my.project.valueobjects.Constant. Although array from event.result contains Objects.
I have an array of temporary objects created in a for loop. The objects are of type class "Tile", a class I created. However, it appears that whenever I create a lot of tiles in the for loop, the program slows down indefinitely.
While the array is whiped at a later trigger point, I am thinking that perhaps these Tile objects are not being erased from memory. They are being created on the fly in a for loop, and the array is being reset to "array = []".
Are the objects still in memory or are they cleaned up when the array is set to []?
What I have is a game with a Level object, inside the Level is a Player object, and they don't have instance names given, what I'm trying to figure out is how to do is make it so that the player can change the x or y properties of the Level object.
To be more precise, I'm making it so that when the player moves in a certain direction, he either moves accross the stage, or he starts moving the Level object around the stage, it'd be in an Event kind of function, now I can easily make the Player move, but I don't know how to make the Level object move which the player is inside of.
I have a service which returns an Array of ObjectProxy objects. I would like to cast this to a custom object (a value object) and create an ArrayCollection. How can I do this?ited:I am using Django and PyAMF for the backend. I had to write a custom SQL query and I am wrapping the resulting records in ObjectProxy and sending the whole result as an ArrayCollection.Here is my client side code:
[ArrayElementType("SessionVO")] [Bindable] private var _list:ArrayCollection;
I will try to give as much detail as I can. I am creating an CRM application using Flex(Cairngorm 2)/Java/Hibernate. The basic problem I am having is this: I have a Customer class in Java that has an ArrayList of Address classes. I have a Customer class in Flex that has an ArrayCollection of Address classes. When I make the remote object call for a Customer I get back a Customer object in Flex, but the ArrayCollecion objects have a data type of Object instead of Address. If I try to call for a List of Address classes I get the same result. If I try to call for a List of Customer classes I get a list of Customer classes in Flex. Using tomcat 6 with the following jars:
How do I align a movieclip, which width and height is user-defined, inside another object (this one is static, though). Top-left alignment is easy, x=0 and y=0, but what about center, center left, bottom left, etc? Math(.round) i suppose, but how?I want an object (static) inside the movieclip (user-defined) to stay aligned to, for instance, the top right corner, similiar to the minimize, maximize and close buttons at the top right of your browser.. The height and width data is pre-defined by the user in another file.But that does probably not make any difference...
I want to create a flash movie which firstly loads a selection of images/objects into a portion of the frame. After this is complete, the user can then drag these objects onto another area and the object will be created where the user has chosen. The user can then drag another instance of the ojects onto the area.
For example, there is a background of a lake in one area. A selection of boat pngs are loaded in an area below the lake. The user can drag these boats and place them on the lake. They can drag a boat multiple times if they wish.
