I tried using several text fields to show headlines in different colors, but when i post them online they get all messed up. Is there a way to switch between 2 colors within a single text field?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to use a dynamic text field to pull in html text that contains a bulleted list. Easy enough, that works. But the bullets dont take on the color assigned to the field. I've tried putting it in the html text and also using NewTextFormat and neither work. Can someone help me. This should be a simple fix, but I can't find it... I just want my text and bullets to both be white.
Simple code below. Using html text inside the flash document and having a dynamic field on the screen named txt. Code should turn text and bullets green, but it doesn't work, only text turns green

How do I alternate text colors in a dynamic text field I tried to use CSS but it changes all the text to the same color i want each line to be a seperate color.

View 1 RepliesGiven the following example SWF: Sample Notice how with the words "enthusiast" at the end of the first line and "write" at the end of the second line, that they start to type out on the first line but after a few letters they are bumped.
I understand this is the correct behavior, but is there a way for "enthusiast" to begin being typed on the second line, and "write" on the third line instead of being bumped during the typing?
Currently I am thinking of doing a search ahead mechanism, so it finds the next word in whole, then makes that the active word to print, temporarily print it, see if it increases the numlines, and if it does insert a line break and continue writing. But it seems fiddly.

I have 3 different dynamic text boxes filled with an even amount of content and I can link the UIScollBar to one of the boxes just fine, but I can't seem to find a way to make the content in all three boxes scroll simultaneously with a single UIScrollBar?

I have one dynamic text field called "content_txt"
I have 3 buttons with 3 different instance names (btn1 btn2 btn3)
I have 3 text documents in a folder (1.txt 2.txt 3.txt)
I am able to have 1.txt loaded into content_txt, but here is the problem.
I would like btn2 to load 2.txt and btn3 to load 3.txt into content_txt.
I have looked for an answer for this problem (and found many close answers) but when I try and make my code fit, it just doesn't work. I'm really new to this so any help would be amazing. (or if this has been answered somewhere else and I have missed it..

I am trying to bring in multiple RSS feed nodes into one Dynamic Text field in Flash CS3 using AS3. I have made vars for my headline node and my description text node and I am able to have them both display in the same dynamic text field by formatting them with HTML tags. My problem is changing the text size and color for the description node var. Is this possible in the same Text field. Can the default text format be overidden by code?

I tried adding size = '8' in the <p> tag but it did not override the default size in the Dynamic Text Field (dtfa) properties.
I have a button (movieclip) that I want to make multiple instances of with different labels.I have a dynamic text field in the movieclip, and a second frame for the rollover state.I also created a dynamic text field for the rollover state and gave it the same instance name as the first one. Shouldn't it display the same text across both states?
View 10 RepliesI am making a Flash movie where a user can change the font of a text field(AS3), and due to the embedded fonts functionality even fonts that ar not on the users computer can be selected.The problem is that I can embed only one font per text field. This should be no issue because they are embedded in the example text and are included in the library. But this does not work!It does not matter whether I use the font name or the name of the font in the library with trailing '*', it simply shows _serifThis problem drives me cray because it disables the main feature of the application.
View 3 RepliesI am at work right now trying to create a power point for our Christmas party. I know I can do so much more with Flash than I can with any other power point program. Right now, I'm trying to figure out a way to load a list of names into one dynamic text field that changes at certain time intervals. I'm using ActionScript 2 right now b/c I haven't learned 3, yet. Is there a way for Flash to access a word document and load a name say, every minute? I know I could add a different variable name in front of each employee name, like content, content1, content2, but I have a list of like 300 names here. That would take up almost as much time as it would creating a slide for each name in Power Point.

I need to access the textFeild every time the timer fires so what am i doing wrong? HOw do i keep refrenct to the text field?

I am trying to load text from an external XML file into a dynamic text box. I have so far managed to load single parts of the XML file into a dynamic text field. I now want to be able to load different parts of the XML file (something similar to a string with appendText) into the same text Field. I have so far managed to achive this using the String and append text properties, but would like to use XML file to do it instead.
View 1 RepliesI have created an organizational chart for the company I work for displaying all current employees. Each contact is shown as a button that displays a 'popup' window on rollover. All of this works perfectly. What I want is to create an option to click on each button and the individuals email address be added to a dynamic text field at the bottom of the page.
Just to clarify, I am able to have text entered into the text field on each click, however, clicking on the next button removes the previous text. I want each click to create a new entry in a list. For example: "contact1; contact2; contact3;" etc etc. The end result would be for the user to copy all text (email addresses) from the dynamic text box and paste it into their Outlook "To" section.
I want a chart that has several separate series running in rows across. They are largely separate charts and should not overlap, but all share the same horizontal datetimeaxis. They don't share the same y-axis, however and that's where I'm getting stuck.I have tried having a linechart series and then a plotchart series, but it will only allow a single <mx:series> per chart without having them inside the same series which as far as I can tell will place the charts on top of each other in the z-axis. I can stack them and have them completely separate charts, but it was proving to be somewhat irritating having them align correctly.
Is there any reasonable way of combining multiple charts into one like this? Basically having rows in a table where each row is a different chart but the columns are consistent. or am I going to be best served just by stacking separate ones? an illustration of what i'm going for is here: http:[url]........

Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
In one of our project we are using flex for front end, blazeds/java in the backend. Its an existing code where services are prewritten. I have to make calls to 3 services in the backend (basically 3 remote objects) and get their result and store the result in an object and show the data of this object in a view.
Now in front end we are using Flex and Parsley Framework. I was thinking of the following approaches.
1) Making commands for each service call and storing the result in a shared object (model) and then displaying this model in the view. In this approach the problem is some services are needed in some other web pages, but they donot need the same model. How should i handle this scenario ? Should i make a asynchronous remote call and fetch the result and then again dispatch and event with the event object storing the result.
2) Making a service call , wait for the result then make another call and wait for the result and then make other call, not sure if this is the right way ?
Is it possible to login through flash using one Dynamic Text Field and one Input Text Field and no buttons? If so how? I have seen many tutorials dealing with logging in to PHP using flash but it requires you to make your own php scripts which i am not familiar with. Can some one tell me how to do this with PHPBBs existing php scripts... I want to be able to login thorugh a Input Text Field box and have it verify it in PHP and also be able to register and view other PHP info such as users online and FAQ..

But having the user input a number, store it as a variable, store which function the user wants to perform and clear the text field then store the new input in the same text field as a different variable and multiply or add or divide or subtract the 2 numbers and getting the equals sign to display the answer when clicked is harder than I thought it would be.
View 3 RepliesI am working on a file that has a rotating dial, and I'd like the dial to reveal contents of a text field (a link) as the dial points in the direction of the text field. I have 4 text fields located at 90, 180, 270 and 360 degrees (top, bottom, left and right). I have it controlled via AS, so I've got all the Math but I was hoping someone might know how to reveal the links when the arrow (in the dial) is pointing in these directions.I set up a text field for testing, which shows the degrees, but I'm getting 'NaN' in the field (problems with Theta and converting degrees to Radians, I think). I thought this might help me figure out how to reveal those links, if I can get the NaN to work.Currently, the file is rotating with an onPress, but I'm going to convert it to a mouse follow, instead, so the user only has to float around to see the links.
View 5 RepliesI have a project where I've been asked to allow a user to choose between multple color themes of a character. This object is complex in that it has multiple colors and that each color needs to change differently based on the theme's color scheme.
Is there a way to take a movieclip with multiple colors and apply process to it that will detect different colors and transform them accordingly without taking each individual color, making a movie clip from it, then modifying the movieclip's colors? Each character has a pretty limited color pallette, so this process would only have to find and then change maybe 3 or 4 colors. But the character in question is hand animated and has a LOT of frames, so I'm hoping there's a chance that I can handle this programmatically rather than doing it all by hand with a few hundred extra movieclips to make color changes to.
