I followed the tutorial "ActionScript 3 XML Basics" but it left out how to add the link from the xml file to the text area of flash. Does anyone know the actionscript code to do this?[code]
View 5 RepliesI would like to first add the xml to my flash. Fine I can do this.But I have a number of buttons, where when I click say CW1, i get the information from the XML file with a node of CW1. I have all the xml set up fine.As I have about eight different postcode types.
ST, CW, CH, TF, WV, WS, DE, SK, SY, and each of these may have numbers that follow, i.e ST1, ST2, ST3 and so forth.
So I can only assume that the postal area could be the main nodes, and the numbers inside the child nodes, am I right thus far.o how can i load the area of the xml file into my text area on mouse click, pulling the information relating.
I am trying to find out when a link is 'hovered over' in a text area showing html text. I wonder if listening for a cursor change kind of event might be the way. I can't find anything in the docs.

He wants to continue updating through Blogspot, but wants the blog to automatically fill in the text box on the flash site Homepage. I'm not sure if this is possible, or how I would go about doing it.

I am trying to display an HTML formated file in text area component using Action 3.0. The following script does not generates compiler errors, each function seems to be executed yet the file is not displayed. When trying the same code with myCV.txt and myCV_TA.text = (loader1.data) the text file is displayed OK. Flash MX and actionscript 2.0 had handled that differently but with success?

I managed to show the output of a shell command in TextArea of flex by calling following php file via HTTPService and then using the dataprovider attribute of TextArea to show the returned output.

Now i have a C file which prints some lines (by using printf command of C) when i run it in shell using

But following php code seems to not return anything as my TextArea remains empty

i have created a flash animation for my homepage, i want to make part of that flash animation a "enter" button so when clicked would go to my page 2 on my website.
i have never done any script before and only used dreamweaver on a mac. is there an easy way to create this button to link to my next page and to stop my file to stop looping?

1) I can't figure out how to have URL links in the text that loads.
2) How can I make the scroller refresh to allow for new text in the dynamic text area. The content changes alright, but the scroller stays in the same position and if it wasn't needed initially, the scroller disappears and doesn't return on new text.
I have a txt file rendered as html in flash. Is it possible to use a link in the text file, to link back to flash to load a page or manipulate a variable?!

I am also reading a website in from the xml file that I would like some of the the text to link to. View 1 Repliesi'm attempting to resolve a problem with targeting. i would like to target multiple iframes from a link that has been pulled into a flash document. basically, the link needs to load a title and an mov file. the mov file has to be loaded into an iframe, but the title could be loaded into another dynamic text field.. i'm using a text file that is loaded into a dynamic text field. the link within the text file currently looks like this:

I need to put together an editable text area that has a custom caret (cursor) which is different from the default blinking vertical line. Is the caret a "skinnable" property of text input? note that I am not asking about the mouse pointer cursor which can be set using the CursorManager.

How would I go about appending (not just changing the entire text area to this img, actually appending) a simple 25x25 image sprite into a text area in a flex project? using actionscript? (not mxml)
(it has to be a spark text area component, mostly because this is a flex mobile project and thats all thats optimized for mobile)
edit: I guess I should have said this, i know html text is the way to go about it. But my real confusion lies with first it being a Sprite, so i dont have a url to link to. It's an actual sprite var (it would be a file sent over the network in bytes, and saved in a sprite object.) and then the second part where im lost is APPENDING it to the text inline, so it doesnt replace any of the text already in the text area, and will be scrollable in the text area.
also, remember im trying to append this to a SPARK TEXT AREA component. I know i could just make a text field instance and thats it, but i cant find any information about appending this to a text area

SInce there was some confusion about the sprite im trying to append, this is how the image is being transmitted,
it's starting out as just a standard cameraphone image, then..

So then finally I have the image in imageSprite... and that brings us to my main problem appending this image in a TEXT AERA spark component. With an end result that will have the look of a picture message sent on an android or iphone.
I was wondering if there is a limit to how much Jaws (screen reader) can read in a text area in Flash. my text area contains about 15 lines, and always it stops reading at a certain point. In one test I was deleting one word, and then Jaws read one more for me(since I guess I deleted one). So it looks like there is a limit on how much it can read through AccessibiltyDescription property . How I can make the Jaws to read the whole content in the text area? I am working with flashbuilder and SDK 4.1.
