Apr 22, 2010I've created this thumbnail navigation bar that uses XML to get an external image, title, and link information. It then uses attachMovie() and a for loop to generate the listing. It all works like it's supposed to!
However I am now having two problems. The first, since I am loading in an image I would like to have a preloader appear in all the thumbnail containers before the thumbnail image loads in. I have a simple circle preloader in each thumbnail module that I would like to hide it once the image loads in.
The second issues and perhaps the more important one is that the site is color coded meaning once you click on a navigation button the site color scheme changes to a different color. I put all the instance names of the site elements into an array and then created a color change function with a switch statement to had the color change. However I cant seen to include the newly attached thumbnails into this array so they don't change color along with everything else on the website. I'm completely suck on this and have no idea how to go about making this color change happen. I'm frustrate and I need help.

Flash - Change The Color Of A DisplayObject When It Moves In A Specific Zone?
May 17, 2011I am coding a graphical interface using Flex, and I have a qestion related to masks in Flash.I want to create a kind of mask that defines which color and which alpha value a text will have according to its position on the screen. It is very easy to do that with the text being the mask of a bitmap, for instance.
However, I also want to take into account the color of the text itself.for instance, if I create a red text, in some zone it will be red with a modified alpha value, but on another zone, the text will be full white, as if there was a kind of mask which also applies its own color on top of it.
Is there a way to easily do this kind of thing? Of course, I can manually apply the format on the text according to where it is, but I wonder if there is an automatic processing like mask or blend mode using a DisplayObject as a processing pattern.

Mar 6, 2012I have a button I am creating from 2 movieclips in the library. One is the button body (shape converted to MC). The 2nd is a series of button logo PNG's for an additional visual button state change.I add the logo MC with addChild to the button body. Then I add the button body to display/stage container. ll is layered correctly.If I add alpha or transform the color to the button body, it goes to the top - covering the button logo.Not applying the color or alpha to the button body and applying a color or alpha to the button logo has not effect (displays correctly).

There are some blending options called alpha, difference, lighten and substract but Im not getting the right combinations. I want to make layer1 alpha only by using layer2.

Oct 26, 2010I would like to be able to quickly check if a given DisplayObject is a descendant (not in the inheritance sense - ie. child, grandchild, great-grandchild, great-great-grandchild, etc.) of another DisplayObject. There doesn't seem to be a native way to do this and I can only think of two ways to achieve it: Create the mother of all nested loops. Seems a bit, I dunno, wrong? Dispatch a bubbling event at the 'child' and check if the potential 'parent' receives it.

Feb 6, 2010i have a button, with instance name lightblue_color. I am assigning a color to its color field like this: lightblue_color.transform.colorTransform.color = 0x65ffff; then i am adding an eventlistener to the button like this: lightblue_color.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, ChangeColor); Then, in the function: public function ChangeColor(evnt:MouseEvent):void {trace(evnt.target.transform.colorTransform.color);} It prints 0. Why is that? Shouldn't it print 0x65ffff or do i need to do some type conversions?

Then, you can stick the text on the movie and make a new one. During the creation of the movie clip holding the created text, all the format parameters of the text are passed to the movieclip. When I call back the .color parameter, it shows a value that isn't hex nor RGB... I've been googling for the last hour trying to find how to convert this back to RGB or hex values with no success. In this case, the value is : 65535

I want to let people change the color of tiles to what they want from a list of colors, so how can I let them change the color of a tile dinamicly with actionscript so that it changes a tile's color while preserving changes of "shadows"? I mean I have let's say a cube and to make it look 3D I need to change each face to make a feeling of 3D and not a flat one.

Instead of creating a button and nesting movie clips for each state, I'm trying to script an animated button of a square (no fill) where on rollover the stroke color changes from one color to another (tweening the tint). I want to do this to the button symbol so it's the same for all instances. Is this possible or do I have to go the button > nested MC route? Sorry if this is lame...it's been awhile since I've used Flash and I've forgotten quite a bit.
