I build a .fla project, and publish a .swf.
If I double click the .swf to play, it opens two .swfs, the one I'm double clicking and one from a previous project.
If I drag the .swf directly to the stand alone Flash Player then no problem, just the one movie.
I could deal with this except now I've sent a client a .swf, and when he double clicks it opens the .swf he clicked on, and one from a previous project I sent that is on his hard drive.
After moving from Windows XP to Windows 7 noticed this behavior in my Flex application. In IE8 when a user clicks on a link in the SWF file it uses the navigateToUrl api to open a new window pointing to an external site. This works as expected in XP on IE8 . However in Windows 7 clicking the link will open a new tab, this new tab however sits in the background therefore it is possible that it may not be noticed by the user. Also the content in this background tab does not always load fully unless you clear the cache. Has anyone come across this issue with Flex and Windows7/IE8? In the navigateToUrl function i pass in a param of _blank.
View 1 RepliesI have a MovieClip called HolderMc and a ClickBtn inside HolderMc, here i want to DoubleClick the HolderMc and also i need to click the ClickBtn inside the HolderMc, here i have used MouseChildren as false to HolderMc to click the button, and doubleClick as enabled to HolderMc but no use, and also i have used to get the MovieClips name using target.currentTarget even though i am not able to use the doubleclick option alone.

I am no longer able to doubleclick SWFs on my PC and have them open up in their own little SWF preview window. It is asking me to choose how I want to open them. There was no option for any Flash player, so I have had to settle for Firefox fo now which is annoying as it has changed all my SWF icons to the FF logo.I have Flash CS3 installed, and use Flash regularly to create banners and things, so this is a pain.

I've just recently started learning actionscript with most of knowledge coming from this site and others like it. My website loads external swfs by clicking a button. In these swfs is dynamic text and a slideshow. It load the text and images from an xml file. As you click around the website the slideshow stops working properly. I'm not really sure why this happening.

I am creating an interactive slideshow, like a PowerPoint effect, I have a main scene, 4 Buttons, a Home Button, Play Button, Forward Button & Back Button.I want the Home Button to take me back to the start of the scene, Forward Button to Load a External swf slide and when the Forward Button is clicked again to Unload External swf and load in the next swf slide, I also want the Back Button to do a similar thing!I keep getting External Swf pile-ups or flickering

I have drawn intersecting lines. The user can click on a region inside the angle formed by the two lines.When the user clicks inside the area, the small region formed by the arc between the two lines showing the angle should change. View 3 RepliesI am loading eight external swfs by way of eight buttons with actionscript to remove the swfs and sound after a new button is clicked. This works fine except that as soon as you get to the frame where the actionscript is all the swfs load at one time on top of each other. I don't want any to load until the button is clicked for the right one. MouseEvent listener works but only after all the swfs have loaded. How do I get the swfs to load only when the buttons are clicked. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

But when I open the html page in which the swf is embedded, as a full-screen pop-up window, using javascript, the stage colour of the swf is always grey - not the black I set. This happens with whatever colour I set as the stage colour.

Currently, it opens to the first image in the set. I think it would be better if it opened to the first page of the thumbnail browser instead, to let people that are clicking on it know that there are more images in the set than just the one. Otherwise, they would have to know to click on the little "additional guides" icon in the lower right corner.
I currently have a website that has a photo gallery. The home page has a link to the actual photo gallery. I'm using the (getURL) to open the photo gallery in a new window, however the new window opens up to the same size as the home page. I would like to shrink down the window size of the photo gallery so the user can still see some of the home page behind the new window.
I know javascript can take care of this problem, but I was wondering if there is a way to do it with Flash? I just need to specify the size of the new window when it opens.
I am having a strange issue. I have many flash projects on this computer. On my current project, when I do a test movie from flash, it plays the swf no problem. When I open the published html file, again, no problem. However, when I double click on the swf from the finder to play it in flash player, flash player opens it, but it also opens some random projector (.app file) that has been previously published from another project. I would have tried trashing flash player prefs, but I can't find them.

i have an index page (html) that contains an swf and a hyperlink. the hyperlink is set to skip the intro swf and open the main html page. there is no problem there. what i have been trying to find is an event listener that waits till the swf is finished and then goes to the main.html. i found an example that does what i want, but instead of opening a url it uses trace and shows me a message.

I have a movie and after the intro the enter button takes me to the next frame (11) and stops. there i have a drop down menu with button instances on each of the drop downs. The drop down is in a movie clip so i am using on (release) {_root.gotoAndPlay("s1"); } on the button instances to take me to root level to say frame 12 and stops. Each button instance has a different frame label to go to, s1, s2 etc - the idea being that back at root level i can have the content of each of the buttons on each of the frame labels (s1 at frame 12 , s2 at frame 13 etc) .... this works fine except the drop down menu in each of these new frames retains the action script on the drop down button instances - this is fine for all the buttons that will take me to another content page at root level - what i dont want is the AS to remain on the button for the page i am currently on - cos if you click on it it takes you back through the intro etc to get to its frame label again .
View 3 RepliesI have both CS3 and CS4, I now work only in CS4 with some exceptions. If I open CS4 start a new project then save after working in it the file saves with the cs3 icon. When I doubleclick the file to open it defaults back to opening in CS3.Only way to have files default and open in CS4 is to choose the icon of the CS3 (which is really a CS4 file) and choose open with other, choose the CS4 app and click on it so it opens in CS4 and then only does the icon changes to a cs4 icon.

View 10 RepliesI was asked to edit a completed website. I was given the .swf file. I decompiled it using SoThink and converted it to a flash file. When I opened it in Adobe Flash CS4, only the intro portion is viewable in the timeline.
When I test the movie the entire website plays out with no problems. But the timeline only shows the intro/home page. I need to edit other content in the scene.
Is there a way to set the flex debugger (fdb) to automatically open the debuggable swf in firefox instead of Opera?
The app I am starting from works in firefox but not Opera and it does not have to support Opera anyway.
I load the swf (picture gallery) into an empty MC via AS2, but I only get the image without its functionality.

View 2 Repliesall my getURLs launch the browsers fine, but if the user allready has a window open, the browser launches behind the projector causing the user to minimize and tab over to the web browser. this only seems to happen on a pc.is there any way to attach something to either the first frame of the flash to close any open browser windows? i know this is a bit of an annoyance for me, as well as many others, from a usablitiy standpoint, but this is the last tweak my client is not budging on.[code]
