I have both CS3 and CS4, I now work only in CS4 with some exceptions. If I open CS4 start a new project then save after working in it the file saves with the cs3 icon. When I doubleclick the file to open it defaults back to opening in CS3.Only way to have files default and open in CS4 is to choose the icon of the CS3 (which is really a CS4 file) and choose open with other, choose the CS4 app and click on it so it opens in CS4 and then only does the icon changes to a cs4 icon.

View 3 RepliesI am new to Flash and I am working on updating a website that was created by co-workers in 2009.I was not here when it was created and those people are no longer here to help me out.The website is URL...I am simply trying to update a few of the photos in the flash file that plays on a few of the pages.We recently upgraded from CS2 to CS5.5 and I am working on a PC.When I try to open the SWF file in the Flash Application, it only lets me play it through the player and I'm not granted access to any of the editing tools(see image).I recently found a photoshop file where it looks like they created the animation, but I'm confused how they saved it as an SWF file.
View 2 RepliesI'm making a Flash animation in Flash CS4, using motion tweens to change positions and sizes of objects on stage. I frequently open the animation file and find a motion-tweened object has been moved to a new position from the one it was in when I last saved the file. All the frames in the tween seem to be affected. If I open the file again without saving, the object is still in the wrong position. I have had to redo or substantially correct a big tween several times. It's wasting time, and I can't rely on my work being in the state that I saved it last. I think the problem happens to the files when I open them after starting up Flash.
View 2 RepliesI have a project set up as scenes.In scene 1 there are two buttons visible from the frame 1licking on these takes us to scene 3 or 4. They work fine. I used code snippet "Click to Go to Scene and Play" the action script is on a keyframe on frame 1 as that is the first frame the buttons appear.From frame 120 a third button appears. So on this frame I have actionscript go to and play scene 5.Problem is it goes to scene 3 instead, like the firstbutton. The buttons are not near each other on screen so its not a case of accidentally clicking wrong button.I think maybe I should've set up my project as movie clips within 1 timeline but I'm too far down the scene route now to change it at this stage.the buttons are all invisible so maybe the third button should also be present from frame 1 and just disabled until frame 120?

The video looks to be inverted so background is black and the animation is white so if I try to publish it like that it just stays the same so it doesn't look right

However, it won't open in the browser in a different location. I pasted the html code in a web page but it doesn't work there nor opens in the browser in a differnet location from where it was originally published and saved. Why is that?

If not I know theres is the load feature where I can load text from a text file. With the html text box editing, Can i link that to the text file?. As in when you edit the text box with html could i have the textbox's instance name equal to the text file? With this my issue is with the <a href> in one textbox, I would like when i click those it open another text file in a different text box.
Clarification: I have two text boxes in my flash file.One has current products. And the other is the description of the product they select. I would like a way to edit and change the products in the first text box without having to keep using the FLA file. Which is why i am using this code

I need help getting it to show up in a text box.That is the first part But the main problem is im not sure how to code the a href correctly so that when i click it, another text file opens in the second text box.So that when a user clicks on a product ,like "Product 1" It opens the correct description text file in the second text box.
Is this possible with Flash?? I want to place a SWF in the top right of the webpage, and when people click on a link from the main menu on the left of the browser, it plays the SWF. This page is written in php, so there is no refreshing of the webpage, just the content.Basically think of an elevator user clicks on menu item, elevator wheel spins, and javascript loads new content....so the elevator wheel has to play everytime a link is clicked.

View 11 RepliesI've done a search and found out about LocalConnections but I don't seem to be able to apply them to my issue. I have two separate SWF files that appear on the same web page. Both are simple animations and all I want is when the first has finished playing for the second to start, and them when that has completed restart the first one again (and so on...).
I'm also guessing that in order for this to work I'll need some code in the first SWF to detect that the second has finished loading otherwise nothing will happen when the first SWF reaches the end.
I am trying to post the score that the player achieves to a database. I have set a web page "highScores.aspx" which gets a query string variable "webScore" and puts it in a database. This works fine as tested in a browser.
The problem I have is getting the correct information into the query string variable. I have:
form.loadVariables("http://www.rightjustified.co.uk/highScores.aspx", "GET");
where the text in question is located inside "form" (which is a movie clip). I've been following this tutorial [URL] and while not really relevant, it's got me further than anything else. The problem with this tutorial is it relies on the user entering text, whereas I am just displaying out the score in some dynamic text. This means that in output I get the following error:

I should point out, I do not need to read the text to get the value as it is stored in a variable beforehand, I just display it to the player via some dynamic text, but I'm not sure how to use this to my advantage.
take a look at this link [URL]. Notice that the flash file in the middle window is off-centered (hanging to the bottom right corner a bit). Any thoughs on why this is? The swf file is fine when I open it seperately and locally, but looks goofy when I throw it in the page.

The only problem I'm having is that when my wife goes to view the websit on her computer (much smaller size). The page cuts off and there's no scroll bar feature which I thought was like a fixture on websites. I've been looking for hours on how to add a scroll bar to my entire website .. like the standard browser scroll bar but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I have two files, one is the index.fla file which i used to create my page in using Flash CS5 and the other is the index.html file which I can edit in Dreamweaver.
Building a webpage entirely in Flash??I have to admit that I really like flash.I am using it for about 2 years, but I am still not sure if building a webpage entirely in flash would bee a good idea. In HTML I can't achieve the same look, and feel, on the other hand sacrificing the look for functionality is the last thing I would do.
View 2 RepliesI have a flash document that I want to always take up the entire web page. Setting to 100% width & 100% height doesn't do the trick, because if the window dimensions aren't right, white space will show on the sides/top and bottom.
Is there a way to get the window dimensions are say if window height > window width : flash movie = window height (and vice versa)?

I'm new to Flash and I'm pretty sure this a dumb question that has been asked many times - but go easy on me as I have searched and searched through and just can't find the answer.
I've created my first animation using a set of digital Jpeg photos and I've figured out the code for inserting this into my web page. It works perfectly and I'm very impressed with the quality of the animation and how small the file is. Now I want to add a simple control bar underneath with Stop, Play, Rewind - the usual stuff you get on YouTube, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.
I have a menu bar button for my website but I need to resize the object on the roll over state, so it can be seen so it needs to be much bigger the problem is, when I create the hit are it can either be the size of the small button on the up state, or the large button on the over state. The problem here is when I make the hit area Large or as large as the over state it make the hit area way past the perimeters of the up state button so you scroll anywhere near that button and it will activate to the roll over state which can be anoying. My question is how to I make the scroll area as small as the up state button and once I am on the button itself, make the scroll area as large as the over state. So I don't scroll off by mistake. is that possible without making a roll over animation on the time line its self I would want to avoid this if at all possible.

View 1 RepliesI have created a flash movie using actionscript 3 and an xml file with a list of images for a slideshow. After clicking publish, I can view the slideshow by previewing the html file it creates for you. However, I want to embed this flash movie in a different web page. When I try to add it in Dreamweaver, by dragging and dropping the swf file into the page, a flash placeholder is generated, but the movie does not play when previewed. It is just blank white space.
Now I watched the Tom Green tutorials on "flash the easy way" and my flash (CS4 professional) did NOT generate the AC_RunActiveContent.js files. I did find and download the file and manually added it to my Scripts folder. Still no joy.
I will note that the html file that embeds the flash video is in a different directory than the movie itself. Surely this cannot be the issue, otherwise people's websites would be incredibly messy with multiple flash videos. I am trying to put all the flash movies in their own child directories of a /flash directory to keep them neat and organized.
I am not sure what to do next. How do you make the dang thing play on a web page that is in another directory?

- use File > Import an AVI video and convert it to an FLV video.
- use File > publish to publish it.
- Then upload the four files...

My Question: Since Javascript seems to run the .swf file which pays the .flv video... (or some such) Can I use Javascript (or html) to tell when the FLV Video has finished playing... And then automatically call another webpage..

View 2 RepliesI have created a Flash-based image gallery using a template purchased from Activeden.net and have successfully published this on a dedicated html page that contains nothing but the SWF file. I would now like to learn how to add an SWF movie to an existing web page. In other words, the movie would run within a rectangular space in a position of my choice surrounded by loads of other stuff.
My first attempts to add a Flash movie to an ASP.NET aspx page were only partially successful. The movie runs within its allocated space but I can only see the bottom third. The rest is cut off by the upper edge of the rectangle (which is big enough to take the whole movie).
I'm trying to publish a movie on a webpage but nothing happends. I've placed both the fla file and the swa file in the html folder.

Just dragged the video onto the canvas, published it as an .swf, but when I upload it all and visit the web page, the video clip / swf isn't displaying.

View 2 RepliesI have a website that has two flash items on it. I have a swf that calls mp3s that plays on the page load, and I have a FLV that plays on page load. What I would like to happen is: on page load the FLV plays when the FLV Finishes the swf starts to play the mp3s. What already happens is that the pages load in _blank pages so they are in new windows. This is good because while you navigate the site, the music from the homepage is still cycling through the swf's mp3 playlist. The problem comes in when you navigate back to the homepage from a new window, and the homepage is still open within the first window. That means that the video plays over, while the music is playing, and the music doubles up. Now the video playing isn't bad, it's that music is doubling up. Can't it sense itself playing a 2nd instance of itself on another webpage and stop it?
