I don't really use Flash, but was just trying to put up a little video demo online.
Just dragged the video onto the canvas, published it as an .swf, but when I upload it all and visit the web page, the video clip / swf isn't displaying.
Its fine in the preview though.

While I'm just a beginner right now it/I'm an experienced computer user and I have really enjoyed/but when I'm looking at it now I'm trying to use flash to edit a website template, for example monster templates. I bought a template from the site and nine trying to edit it now and well it just seems like it's a very very long process to do something kind of where I just want to look at the page and I want to edit the text and only I go to bed doesn't seem to be the case. So I'll show you what I mean.
When I'm using the program and I'm in Adobe flash I'm looking now at the screen inside the program and there's no text I see the graphics images and there's no text and also is that some type of way where it's easy to navigate link to link where I can just edit the text what supposed to be in there rather than search for the funeral push page up and down until I come across just a white background with tax and then have to edited which is pretty confusing because I don't know where that's located but I the general idea that if you change it but surely there must be an easier way.
So basically I'm including a screenshot that shows you exactly what I'm talking about. Basically once again I'm in fashion items Sandy text so it's kinda hard to see what was going on or whatever so you can see the snow text located in the thing but however when I publish the file yeah you can see the text and everything I'm kinda looking for some type of you well be able to see this and just edited really. I know there are other programs out there like SWF edited her or quick note to some like that. But I really wanted to use flash, unexperienced Photoshop user and I really love all Adobe products and I really think that this is the master program to use however I'm really don't want it as of right now it's been about 40 days and nine still a bit lost navigating through the program will I'm just really just China entities tax bills and just go through the site. Now I realize I should have the respect for beautiful program like this and it's not been a be set up to the way that I'm hoping it Siskind be a point-and-click editor I understand that. I'm just wondering if anybody has any type suggestions or perhaps of I'm missing something which is fantastic.
I've created a swf for a component live preview. The live preview appears to work ok when creating a new component, and setting the live preview in the component definition panel.
When I update an existing component definition (in a separate component library FLA) the live preview does not work. The strange thing is if I copy the entire (component FLA) library and paste it into a new FLA it works fine (although in doing so I receive a whole bunch of errors in the output window saying - Plugin tool script error in method ik_isIKContainer).
[URL]when you resize the browser window you'll notice that the background pattern remains the same size but there's never a browser-scrollbar, besides that the movie in the center that is loaded stays centered when resizing while keeping it's window-dimension constant (it's actually 2 seperate movies forming the center window).
View 6 RepliesI have a SWF file in Dreamweaver. It's a photo gallery and one of the options available to click on the gallery is "Full Screen". When I play the file in Adobe Flash Player 10 the Full-Screen option works fine, but when I have the file embedded in Dreamweaver, when I preview the page, for some reason the Full Screen option doesn't work and nothing happens when I click it. I will paste the code of the SWF file below.

I'm having some trouble with getURL (I think). It works fine when I preview with Flash's html preview but it's not working on my server. It's pretty simple. [URL].selected1 is a user-defined variable pointing to a page: ie, when the user selects variable page1 the page to be opened is [URL]. Like I said, it works with Flash's preview, but not on my server(no 404 or any response). Does there seem to be a problem with my code or might I be overlooking a server error? Here's my code:

View 2 RepliesI'm in the process of switching from AS 2.0 to AS 3.0, so apologies if this is really obvious.. I am modifying/updating an old template for a client and am inserting customized navigation buttons. One is a play/pause button and I was able to swap the old buttons for the new in the library and show them on the stage with no problems. When I export to swf to preview the movie, the new button just flashes repeatedly between the different "play" and "pause" states (up, over, etc).
I checked to make sure I didn't change any names of the buttons or movie clips. I tried inserting stop(); but it doesn't work...probably because I'm not putting it in the right spot. When I select the button, it has "up, over, down, hit" in the Timeline and says the selection can't have any actions applied to it.
Working in Flash CS4. When I publish my flash movie it opens fine on my computer but when I copy the folder with all the contents to another computer the skin show up fine but I get a white box where the movie should be. The same goes if we try to place it on a website.
When I'm in flash should I be going to
File Publish or
File Export SWF
To be placed in a website.
Does anyone know of a way to get Flash CS5 for Windows to preview an animation in a secondary browser?

I've created a Flash animation and inserted the SWF file (created in Flash 8) into my Dreamweaver CS2 file. It all works fine in preview (both in Flash and Dreamweaver). But on any of the browsers the public file doesn't show the flash animation.
I have a transparent layer in Dreamweaver over the SWF file so that I could put hotspots which are working.

I have a project with a bunch of movie clips. Each movie clip has it's own animation. The problem is I can't see the movie clips on the stage, I have to test the movie. Live preview is checked, but greyed out. Is there anyway to live preview working on main stage?

View 6 RepliesI have a sound file (.mp3) that I would like to animate to. I am attempting to preview several frames in the timeline to see how my animation is syncing up as I work on it, but no sound plays in the timeline. Doing a publish/preview every time I want to check it doesn't seem like the best option. I've tried CS4 and CS5 and it's the same result in both. I'm curious as to what I am missing, or do you animators out there do something different?
View 3 RepliesI'm having a strange issue with CS5.5 and the import for runtime sharing settings. Here's what I'm doing: I create two .fla's, Export.fla and Import.fla. In Export.fla, I create a shape, select it, press F8 and tick export for runtime sharing, to create a really simple exported movie clip. I click the exported symbol in the library, press Ctrl-C, switch to Import.fla and press Ctrl-V. Everything ok so far, the symbol is imported for runtime sharing.
The first problem I have at this stage is that changes I do to the exported symbol in Export.fla are not reflected in Import.fla, only in the final .swf's I can see the changes. Also, unlike in CS4 and CS5 I cannot "Update" the imported symbol in the library right-click menu, to make changes to Export.fla visible in Import.fla. The menu entry is just greyed out...
So I tried to use Authortime sharing, in the Symbol Properties for the imported symbol in Import.fla. I link the source to the symbol in Export.fla, and once I do that, everything is completely borked. The previously imported symbol is no longer imported. Whenever it is changed in Export.fla, it gets an "Export for Runtime Sharing" tick in its Properties in Import.fla, and worst, it is not shared at runtime, like I need it to. how to get the "normal" CS/4/5 behaviour in CS5.5: a runtime shared symbol, that can be updated in Import.fla (I dont care if manually or auotmatically) when I change it in Export.fla, and which also is runtime shared?
I created a quiz that has several small video in AS2. It works fine when I preview it, but when I post in on the internet it plays the first video and goes to a black screen. I created the page and clicked to publish it. I then exported the swf by hitting file/export/export movie then saved this and posted it to the internet. This is how I have done it in the past, but now I get a blank screen.

Now I can drag out instances of the Test_mc into the scene and get red circles when I test the movie. The problem however, is that I can't see the circles on the canvas inside the Flash IDE. Is there a way to get these actionscript generated grapics to show up?
I test my flashfiles (banner ads) several times during making by pressing Ctr+Enter. The movie then opens up in the Flash Player. It would be really useful to have play/skip/forward/backward/pause/stop (just regular moviecontrollers) buttons in the player to skip straight to the right part (not as part of the file). Is there any way to add this to flash? A plugin/extension maybe?
View 1 RepliesI made nine frames with different jpeg images (on three Layers, which suit to different day's timespans), then I added actionscript. It gets date from system clock, according to hour - chooses timespan (morning or evening, midday or night) and display one of three frames for this time (randomly). But, when I test the project in preview (ctrl+enter) I have still first frame or empty Stage without any images. It works properly when click on Play in context menu.

I am using Dreamweaver CS4 to insert a FLV video into a web page. Dreamweaver automatically uses FLVPlayer as the flash player. All is working beautifully except that when I first visit my web page, the video area is just a black screen. I would like to put a preview image there instead. Other players just seem to usually have a parameter that you set like "image=" and you point to the .jpg or whatever, but I can't get that to work here.

I have created a rollover image in fireworks, which works in the preview option on fireworks.I have exported it as : html & images, exporting slices.This works when I open it straight from the file BUT when I try pasting it into dreamweaver (insert -> image: fireworks html) the box where the rollover image appears but with a cross in it.I have also tried copying the html from fireworks into dreamweaver but this doesn't work.When I try this the image appears and the link works BUT the rollover doesn't?This is the code I use:

I have created many flash video over the years so I definitely know how to embed an flv into flash. Also, it is very hard to screw up the import video wizard in flash so I have eliminated that as a potential problem. I haven't created a movie in quite a few months and yesterday I tried to create one. I used the wizard in flash to import the working flv and when i hit ctrl+enter to preview, a blank white screen showed up. When I right clicked, it said movie not loaded. So I tried to use AS3 and netconnection to embed the movie. When I previewed it, the same thing happened. I then went to view one of my existing swf's that did not have a video and that did not work either. I searched and found the adobe flash player security preferences and changed settings and NOW I can view swf's that do not have video. I can ALSO view old swf's that have video embedded BUT as soon as I open the original fla file and press ctrl+enter to preview, the swf's DO NOT preview anymore

On the timeline I have used both motion tween and classic tween to create a aplha change from 0% to 100%.I made sure I have enoough space on my timeline (10 frames).The aplha tween works fine in preview mode however when I export the swf the aplha tween is no longer working? I have tried breaking the text,restarting flash,restarting my computer and similar suggestions from other blogs such as:
I was able to solve this by checking the box "Use runtime bitmap caching" under Blend in the properties panel for the MovieClip in question.I am currently using Flash CS5 on a imac.
I have been working on an animation. I have imported my sounds to the library and streamed them live to the animation. They dont sound as good (muffled and distorted) when I publish the preview (flash or html). They sound fine within flash. When I switched the properties from "stream" to "event" it seemed to work great in the preview. I added a few more sounds and now only the first two mp3 clips sound clear and the rest now sound not so clear. They sound okay but I cant figure out why the rest sound bad? They now all have the exact same settings as the first two..

View 4 RepliesI'm having timing problems with a music video I am working on. The framerate it 24fps which for a 22 second animation should give me 528 frames. However, In the preview of the slides the 22 second mark on the sound is reached by about 310 frames. What's more, the 22 second point in the sound is reached at a later time in an exported swf movie, but still not 528 or 310. Why is the timing different in all viewing modes, which one should I use to time my video or how can I set them to all display the video at the correct timing?
View 2 RepliesI'm scaling text from small to large using tweens, but when the text is scaled, it turns into these unreable blobs. The text is still editable, just not useful. (The output looks fine, however.)Is there a setting, or a different method, I should be using to scale text in a tween to prevent this?
