Professional :: Button Won't Stop Flashing In SWF Preview?

I'm in the process of switching from AS 2.0 to AS 3.0, so apologies if this is really obvious.. I am modifying/updating an old template for a client and am inserting customized navigation buttons. One is a play/pause button and I was able to swap the old buttons for the new in the library and show them on the stage with no problems. When I export to swf to preview the movie, the new button just flashes repeatedly between the different "play" and "pause" states (up, over, etc).
I checked to make sure I didn't change any names of the buttons or movie clips. I tried inserting stop(); but it doesn't work...probably because I'm not putting it in the right spot. When I select the button, it has "up, over, down, hit" in the Timeline and says the selection can't have any actions applied to it.

In Flash CS 5.5, I know you can preview the playback of a video right on the stage using the button and fader of the skin. But then why is there still the [preview] section written in the Component Parameter? (Under the isLive line) And why is it always set to None?
We have a short video of a street, which we are looking to pause when it is clicked and then all the hazards turn into drawings and flash. Then when you hover over a hazard it tells you some info about it.I have managed to get the video to stop when clicked, using the below code but can't get the movie clip of the flashing hazards to play at the same time. Is it even possible?

I've built a drag and drop project with 9 elements in Flash CS5 using AS 3.0. Using code from an AS3.0 4 element drg&drp tutorial (which worked) I copy/pasted the code into the new project, renamed graphics in AS where necessary and added the additional code required to accomodate the additional graphics.When playing the test I get no errors however the first logo (element) and it's invisable target just flash on and off 11 times, then I see a frame of the whole project (for 1 frame) and then the cycle repeats.
I've double checked all naming conventions and everything is correct between movie clips and code. I've even simplified the code to just 1 element to see if I could track down where the problem starts and I get the same thing. The strange thing (to me anyway) is if I change the name of element to be dragged/dropped (in the code) to a different element on the stage I still get same original graphic flashing. So I don't think it's the code at all I think there is some weirdness in the graphic setup.
Recently, I uploaded the flashmo_212_mp3 player to my site in hopes to have a player. When I put the player into my timeline, for the specific keyframe I run into problems. When I go to publish my site (this is in flash cs4), the site flashes every single page rapidly.What do I need to do to fix this problem?
I am embedding my swf file using SWFobject but I get a white box flashing before the swf file loads. I had tried all suggestions but I still have the problem. The Flash file and the browser background color is the same. Any new ideas on how to fix this. I am a casual AS3 programmer, I just learned to be able to do my own website.
What is correct way of creating a police car with flashing blue lights drive along in a scene?My plan was to create a new file, add car and png of just the lights to the library.layer 1 rename as car and dragdrop car graphic to stage, add keyframe at fr48 for 24fps scene, 2secs duration insert a layer call it lights and drag drop to stage, make duration 24frames, lights flash at 1 sec intervals when movie played.Should I select both layers and go modify>convert to symbol>movieclip then copy paste that from library to the library of the scene with the road ?(it doesnt flash !)How is this done ?
I also presume the fps of the movie clip if taken to another file should be the same as that file, one cannot have movie clips of different fps in one file, am I right ?
I'm trying to fade in a button over a looping video clip however, it fades in and disappears after a few seconds. I tried adding stop() to the button but it stops the whole movie instead of just the button.
I have a button that when the user rolls over it, it plays a 3 second piece of audiothat works fine.When the user rolls off though, the audio still plays, that, if the user rolls over the button several times you get multiple instances of the auduo until they all play out.
I have a Start button on the title screen. I want the music to stop when you click on the start button. Also, I want for another music to start when you go to the next part of the animation and to stop when you click on another button.
I'm having some trouble with getURL (I think). It works fine when I preview with Flash's html preview but it's not working on my server. It's pretty simple. [URL].selected1 is a user-defined variable pointing to a page: ie, when the user selects variable page1 the page to be opened is [URL]. Like I said, it works with Flash's preview, but not on my server(no 404 or any response). Does there seem to be a problem with my code or might I be overlooking a server error? Here's my code:

I am working on an image management application. We have an Adobe AIR client talking to a WAMP server. The MySQL DB stores the images as blobs.We have an image search feature. Upon searching, I am displaying the results as XMLList in a popup window and provided a download button. Downloads work fine. I also want to add a preview button to the popup.how can I code this. Without having the file on the client, I cannot preview. But when I use save() method, the os dialog opens up.
I'd like to make a bandwidth saving mp3 preview button... instead of clicking on the button and that the stuff loads an mp3 file on the server (legally of course) it just takes a part of it, like 10 seconds or more...
I have a swf with two layer which both show when playing the animation in the flash timeline editor environment but when played in the preview or published one of the layers isn't shown.
I have an FLA file and movie and wish to upload the movie file to a server. However, when I click File | Preview in HTML the HTML file fails to generate (I see only the background colour of my FLA in my browser).
Using Flash cs5I have a simple swfnothing on the stage except a video (flv) playback component.I dont want it to autostart which i see the paremeter for and have set that to uncheckedBut I would like pick a place in the video to be the thumbnail image for the video that people see instead of just a black box. Working in Flash CS4. When I publish my flash movie it opens fine on my computer but when I copy the folder with all the contents to another computer the skin show up fine but I get a white box where the movie should be. The same goes if we try to place it on a website.
When I'm in flash should I be going to File Publish or File Export SWF To be placed in a website.
I don't really use Flash, but was just trying to put up a little video demo online.
Just dragged the video onto the canvas, published it as an .swf, but when I upload it all and visit the web page, the video clip / swf isn't displaying.
Does anyone know of a way to get Flash CS5 for Windows to preview an animation in a secondary browser?

I've created a Flash animation and inserted the SWF file (created in Flash 8) into my Dreamweaver CS2 file. It all works fine in preview (both in Flash and Dreamweaver). But on any of the browsers the public file doesn't show the flash animation.
I have a transparent layer in Dreamweaver over the SWF file so that I could put hotspots which are working.

I've updated AC_RunActiveContent and downloaded a trial FlashCS5 but still no luck.
I have a project with a bunch of movie clips. Each movie clip has it's own animation. The problem is I can't see the movie clips on the stage, I have to test the movie. Live preview is checked, but greyed out. Is there anyway to live preview working on main stage?
I am working on Flash CS5 Professional. I have created a simple fla file but not able to Publish->preview the swf file in Google Chrome. When I click on Publish Preview it opens a new browser window but nothing happens.
I have a sound file (.mp3) that I would like to animate to. I am attempting to preview several frames in the timeline to see how my animation is syncing up as I work on it, but no sound plays in the timeline. Doing a publish/preview every time I want to check it doesn't seem like the best option. I've tried CS4 and CS5 and it's the same result in both. I'm curious as to what I am missing, or do you animators out there do something different?
I'm having a strange issue with CS5.5 and the import for runtime sharing settings. Here's what I'm doing: I create two .fla's, Export.fla and Import.fla. In Export.fla, I create a shape, select it, press F8 and tick export for runtime sharing, to create a really simple exported movie clip. I click the exported symbol in the library, press Ctrl-C, switch to Import.fla and press Ctrl-V. Everything ok so far, the symbol is imported for runtime sharing.
The first problem I have at this stage is that changes I do to the exported symbol in Export.fla are not reflected in Import.fla, only in the final .swf's I can see the changes. Also, unlike in CS4 and CS5 I cannot "Update" the imported symbol in the library right-click menu, to make changes to Export.fla visible in Import.fla. The menu entry is just greyed out...
So I tried to use Authortime sharing, in the Symbol Properties for the imported symbol in Import.fla. I link the source to the symbol in Export.fla, and once I do that, everything is completely borked. The previously imported symbol is no longer imported. Whenever it is changed in Export.fla, it gets an "Export for Runtime Sharing" tick in its Properties in Import.fla, and worst, it is not shared at runtime, like I need it to. how to get the "normal" CS/4/5 behaviour in CS5.5: a runtime shared symbol, that can be updated in Import.fla (I dont care if manually or auotmatically) when I change it in Export.fla, and which also is runtime shared?
