I'm in the process of switching from AS 2.0 to AS 3.0, so apologies if this is really obvious.. I am modifying/updating an old template for a client and am inserting customized navigation buttons. One is a play/pause button and I was able to swap the old buttons for the new in the library and show them on the stage with no problems. When I export to swf to preview the movie, the new button just flashes repeatedly between the different "play" and "pause" states (up, over, etc).
I checked to make sure I didn't change any names of the buttons or movie clips. I tried inserting stop(); but it doesn't work...probably because I'm not putting it in the right spot. When I select the button, it has "up, over, down, hit" in the Timeline and says the selection can't have any actions applied to it.
We have a short video of a street, which we are looking to pause when it is clicked and then all the hazards turn into drawings and flash. Then when you hover over a hazard it tells you some info about it.I have managed to get the video to stop when clicked, using the below code but can't get the movie clip of the flashing hazards to play at the same time. Is it even possible?

i'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

I've been using it fine - until the last month - I've completely uninstalled it - and reinstalled it. I was having this problem before I upgraded to 10.5.6... thought upgrading the OS may work - it hasn't. I'm on a MacBook Pro
View 6 RepliesI've got a large(at least I assume it's large, ~200meg) flash file I'm working with that upon saving, it goes into the dreaded "(Not Responding)" mode. Is this a symptom of being such a large file? It's image intensive--I can try reducing the image quality--or is there something else I'm missing?I'm on a toshiba laptop, using the latest version of windows.
View 3 RepliesWhen i zoom into the page then move around the edge of the page can be moved past the edge of the browser window showing the static page which appears at the start of the document. Is it possible to use actionscript to stop the page being dragged past a certain point so the static page is not seen? On the example below the static page is white so it does not pose too much of a problem however im using the static page as a sort of instruction page and it looks a bit rubbish if the user drags a page past the edge of the view window and see's the original page. Everything works, but once a video has loaded and played through completely, if the user replays the video it continuously fires the NetStream.Buffer.Flush event until the video stops playing again (by either ending or by the user hitting pause). It doesn't seem to effect anything negatively, but I would rather not have an event continuously firing in the background like that. I can't find any documentation of this happening online anywhere. Is this normal behavior for a NetStream that has fully loaded?

Going forward, there is no issue with sound overlapping from the current and next pages. Going backward, however, there is an issue with sound playing on both the current and previous pages. How do I stop this?

I have 100 swf embedded in a page. The swf are various forms of individual audio playbacks.- an swf button that loads an swf into it that has audio on a timeline streamed. AS3
- swf that has streamed audio using scripting so there is no preloading. AS2Since I have 100 and the user could press all 50 at a time and have this giant noise of sounds and bog down their bandwidth. Is there anyway of:- stopping all playing of swfs that has streamed audio using timeline. I guess that could be like a ALL stop frame command??- stop all sounds coming from the streamed audio swf
I am working in flash and php.. I want to write a text file from flash via php. The thing is when I click on button it rites and redirects to another page. I have stopped the re-direction. 2ndly I want that instead of on click of button I want the variables to be passed to php and write a text file when a frame is loaded. Its basically a gallery, where images are loaded one after another. I want that when one image is loaded via xml. It should write a text file with Hit = 1, so that I know that the image is viewed. All things is working fine, except when I use GetURl on loading the image a new window opens( blank) and my flash file goes off.. Is there any way to stop a blank page opening.
View 2 RepliesI'm building a website in flash using my limited understanding of action script.Everything was progressing very well until I found that if I go to one of my example pages of my web site and play the flash video (with audio)and click back to my "home" button, the audio will continue to play.If I go back to the example page, the video is off and when I start the video, it plays again with the other audio.How do I stop the audio when I click away from the example page back to the home page or any other page?

I want to use HTML/JS for the controls and content, so I created two separate Flex modules: * A "Webcam Setup" module that lets you choose your camera and mic input devices * A "record" module that lets the user record and submit the recording
When I embed either of these on the page, since they access the user's Camera/Mic object, Flash shows the Privacy dialog that says "[mysite] is requesting access to your camera and microphone. If you click Allow, you may be recorded."
The problem is, if I answer Yes in the Setup module, and later add the Record module to the page using Javascript, it again shows the Privacy dialog.
Is there a way to avoid the second privacy popup?
I would think that saying "Yes" for [mysite] would store that permission for at least that session, but apparently not.
What I've tried I tried combining them into one SWF, adding it to the page once and moving the DOM element with jQuery's append() function when needed. When I move it, however, it reloads and asks me again.
I am having a problem with the video on my website. I put a couple of videos on there and I have them working. But if I click on another page, the sound is still playing on the video until it is over. I found a temporary solution by putting in the code to STOP ALL. This make it work how it should. But the thing is I want background music, and with the code I have know the music would shut off every time I go to another page. Is there any code where I could just shut the sound off for that video when I click on something else and not ALL sound?
View 8 RepliesI have a flash movie with 11 frames and 5 layers. Each of the frames has AS attached to it and all of them start with:

Now the frame labeled "play" has a button on it, that onRelease sends the movie to the next frame with: gotoAndStop("spin");
That frame further more send it to one of the other frames at random with another gotoAndStop(), which have a stop() and a sendAndLoad on them.
However once it's reached this point, if you roll your mouse over the movie, it flickers and shows flashes of the "play" frame (the one with the button on it).
I can't figure it out, none of the movie clips or buttons in the movie have any actionscript attached to them.
I've tried to delete four of the layers and only keeping the one with the action script on it (and keyframes on every frame). But still it does it.
Inside my /test folder/music_player/ have have a file called mini_player.swf. If I play it without embedding it anywhere, like this: [URL].. everything is OK. But when I add it into my index page: [URL].. the song doesn't start.

I'm trying to animate entirely in AS for the first time. (Woo!) I'm using the Tween class, with the very convenient Tween.onMotionFinished to invoke my next animation. But once I get pretty far into it, it starts to look like this:

I've found that, when applying a tween to a function, I am unable to refer to that tween (specifically, onMotionFinished) from outside of it. This works okay but leaves me with some rather ugly ActionScript!
I'm trying to make a loader class that will spit back MovieClip data from the Loader. If another class/function requests the same data (Rather, the same file), rather than making a new loader and re-loading it, I was hoping to just have it return the same MovieClip. This all works to some extent, but the problem I'm having is this - Because the new request is adding the MovieClip, it's taking it away from the old one.
I tried making a copy when the request is made, but the image is generally not loaded then, and because the copies aren't updated, most of the images are empty when everything requests it.So basically what I'm hoping you can guide me towards is a sort of... C++ pointer-esque thing, something that could point to the MovieClip data without actually taking it away from everything else. I've messed with AS3 for a while, but can't find anything like that. Or any other method that would let multiple MovieClips reference a single "original" movie clip, reference-style.
Here's my end goal: I want to display commercials on a screen at my wife's bakery. The script should load one commercial, play it, then unload it, randomly load another, and so on. I am completely new to as3 and have unsuccessfully been following several online tutorials. My first attempt had code in each commercial file (swf), that randomly called up another commercial, which in turn called up another file, and so on--but this became a memory hog and crashed the program after a few minutes.
Since then I have created one main swf file that loads an xml file, which holds all the information for the commercials. However, when the swf commercials are loaded according to the xml file, they don't play properly: when the first commercial finishes playing, the next one is already partially done. Obviously it started playing earlier. The swfs should unload and load the next according to a timer, with the length of the timer being different for each swf according to the xml data.
Even with this, the first swf didn't always stop when it should. My code is getting complicated and the display looks sloppy. Would it be better to convert the swf to flv and create an flv player that has 'continuous play' and 'shuffle' features? Would it be better to convert each swf into movieclips and put them all into one swf? (I like the manageability of using an external xml file; I will be adding and removing commercials frequently and want to keep this as simple as possible.)

I have tried to set up a boolean variable and set it true after the sound plays and false on mouse out and only play when false, but that didn't work either... I was thinking about setting up a timer to handle it, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't something simpler I was missing first.

when you go to the home.html page an animation will play from start and then stop at the end of it. However, for all other pages i.e contact.html aboutus.html we need the animation to skip to the end straight away and not to play the whole animation through. I was thinking this would be controlled by a variable or some kind of external text file ect. Basically in the first frame the actionscript needs to basically say
"if this html page is aboutus.html then go to the last frame and stop" and with the index page it would say "if this html page is index.html then keep playing"
I have a container Canvas named "cnvList" which contains another component horizontal list "hlist". When i hover the mouse over "cnvList", it should display the current mouse position relative to the container cnvList. I have used cnvList.contentMouseX for this. But it should repeatedly track the mouse position repeatedly even when the mouse is not movedk. Can anyone suggest me with code how it can be done?

But the problem that when I click buttons to move between pages(frames) then go and click button_01 the music will play again so I will have music playing more than one time in the background and the sound_btn will not work any more so even I click sound_btn the music will not stop. The code I'm using is listed down. What I should modify to not allow the music play more than one time in the background while moving from one page(frame) to another.

I ran into a bit of a problem, I made my flash movie and everything was good. I added a welcome video with sound that plays when the user opens the website, my only problem is that when you click on the other pages the video and sound keep playing even if you see the other page.
How do I get that video with sound to stop once you go away fro the page and go to another page?
Working on the following site [URL] On the "What we Do" page (one click to the right) each company logo is linked using the Action Script 2 below. Only the "Zipfizz" button works though. The rest of the buttons only work very rarely. I made a stock button from a white box then turned the opacity to 0. Put one over every logo with the proper dimensions and gave them the right instance names. If you click the logo repeatedly in different areas the link will sometimes work. Anyone have an idea what's going on? I not very familiar with AS2, only AS3 but the site was built by another designer awhile ago.
