View 1 RepliesI've been thinking about the possibility of using Flash to create designs through ActionScript and tools that I could use at runtime. Is there any way of saving the stage elements as an image that I can use for print output later, preferably as a vector image?I realise the better option would probably be to learn how to script in java script or another language that can be used with a drawing application such as Illustrator, but I'm curious about what sort of options I have to do it through Flash.
View 1 RepliesHow do I export a flash so that it will play on a computer as the interface (kindof, i guess). I am doing a flash not for the web. I am creating interactive av for an educational exhibit and I am trying to find out how to make it so that the flash is not just an extra window that gets pulled up.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to build a experimental interface (menu, text etc) which is based on a fine grid of points, on which i try to render custom fonts and shapes, by connecting the dots. I would store coordinates for characters (O consists of 4 lines for instance) and render them in an animation line by line, character by character.(this non interactive version is my first step)My question is, what would be the best way to store such a font collection, and execute the above. Any Thoughts? all ideas are welcome

View 0 RepliesWhat is the difference between dragging a movieClip to stage from the user interface and inserting it from code? What I mean is....I noticed that if I drag a movie clip from the library to the stage, give it an instance name ('xx'), I can access it from code using "this.xx". However, if I add the movieClip from code using:
var ch = new MovieClip();
ch.name = 'xx';
addChild(ch);
I cannot access it using this.xx, but I have to access it using this.getChildByName('xx');
would like to export a specific area of the stage. for example. My stage is 400 x 400 and I would like to export only 100 x 100 of the stage at xy 0 pos.
View 3 Repliestl;dr:Using MTASC, How can I take a MovieClip that exists on stage and interface with it through a custom class? I'm a UI/UX designer and interface engineer, and I've recently been trying to improve my development workflow. I've been trying to achieve the following workflow:Create the UI in Adobe IllustratorImport the UI into Adobe FlashSet up MovieClips to allow interactivity on the stageExport the finalized design as an .swfWrite code to interface with the various parts of the UIInject the code into the precompiled .swf using MTASCI can do all of the above, but I've been having problems when it comes to writing the code. I'd like to write object-oriented code as much as possible, but I can't seem to link my custom classes to anything that starts on the stage. How can I take a MovieClip that exists on stage and interface with it through a custom class using the MTASC?
View 3 Replieswas wondering if someone could tell me how to modify this code so i can export the stage at its dimensions in pixels. Right now the script saves the stage without bounds, unconstrained. I need it to draw the stage at its default 1280x720 stage size and whatever is within the stage bounds, not whats off the stage bounds
function createJPG(m:MovieClip, q:Number, fileName:String)
{
var jpgSource:BitmapData = new BitmapData (m.width, m.height);
jpgSource.draw(m);

I'd like to export the many pictures I draw in Flash to something resembling the final product (preferably ber-high-res).However, the image export function in Flash isn't what it should've been.Quick summary of my ventures:
Export as .png/.bmp/any non-vector format: There's only 4x antialias, and everything beyond I think 4096 pixels in either dimension is cut for whatever reason. Not to mention there's an 8000 pixel limit.Export as .ai, open in Photoshop: All gradient fills disappear. Transparency is not retained.Export as .ai/.emf/.wmf, open in Illustrator for rasterization: Transparency is not retained.
flash and at the risk of sounding like an idiot, here goes.My question is:How can I make it so that the stage is divided up into a grid of 4 by 4px spaces that can be filled with a color after a click?So far I have some code that lets you draw a 4 by 4px dot but the dots can overlap because there is no grid:
dot.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, do_stuff);
/*dot is a movie clip of a 4x4 black dot*/
function do_stuff(event:Event):void

I have a slideshow of images, all being loading via Action Script, i have 20 thumbnail that load up into a strip with this code.
xmlPhotos.onLoad = function() {
for (var i:Number = 0; i<xmlPhotos.firstChild.childNodes.length; i++) {
makeAThumb(i);
[Code]....
Okay my problem is i cant work out how to load them into a 5 x 4 grid, with a 10 px gap between them, is this possible? How can i acheive this all through Action Script?

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to do a transition that you've probably seen many times. Transitioning one image to another using a grid of squares where each square fades at a slightly different time.I've made a complex movie clip made up of several other movie clips with all the squares fading at the rate I'm looking at. When I just play the color squares it works fine, but the minute I turn that master movie clip into a mask for the image I loose the transition/fade completely--just an on off thing.
View 3 RepliesI'm working on a website that is going to have images fading in and out of eachother. Instead of a plain fade, I would like to use the fade grid that I found on this site. I have it working with 1 image, but can't get it to work with more. I'm not great with action scripts and there is only 1 frame in the timeline so I can't put a go to action at the end of the animation. I tried adding a second scene but then it just gave me a white screen when I tested the movie.I would like to have 6 images fading with the grid. How to get it to work? Using Flash MX. Actionscript is here: [URl].
View 3 RepliesI've made a movie which has symbols waiting to come onto my stage. When I watch it, all seems to be fine until I run a test. A random symbol sits in the top left corner not moving which isn't there when I watch it.
I've looked through all the layers and none of them are duplicated. When i do a test, this following message appears:WARNING: Multiple 3D objects on the same frame have the same instance name. 3D instance names must be unique. All but one of the instances will be renamed during export.
Is it possible to programatically export the contents of the stage to a jpg format? The goal is generating a starfield from a Photoshop png object over a background created in Photoshop inspired by van gogh starry night, then the result is exported in jpg of select sizes 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1040.
That can be downloaded from a browser or emailed for use as wallpaper
I have a small application where user can drag and drop images on the stage.
When they are finished I want the to save and email the result to me.
So I'm looking for the best and easiest way of doing this.
The application is already don some time ago in AS2.But I can think of redoing it in AS3 if it's a better choice.
I did google about it and found a lot of choices off course.
Im looking for the best way to export an image from flash for print. I will be needing to print anywhere from about 12 inches long all the way up to as much as 6 ft long. Ive tried export> image options but the quality is severely compromised.
View 3 RepliesI've got a little problem when I export flash animations as .mov files. Sometimes a residual image on a past frame from any layer sticks and doesn't go away unless something from another frame is redrawn in it's place. I'm using CS5, but the effect I've shown you here also occurs when I export movie files on this computer in Toonboom. I brought my Flash CS5 file to school and exported in CS5 there and I get the same effect. This problem did occur in Toonboom on an older mac of mine but those files exported perfectly in Toonboom at school. Am I forever trapped making .mov files of my animations by doing a video screen capture?
View 14 RepliesI'm trying to achieve a thumbnail gallery which basically reduces it number of columns (and increases number of rows) when the stage is being resized down.The columns number as default 5, but after resizing down the stage this number is calculated like this:[code]My question is how can I reorder the the columns and rows from the onStageResize function.[code]
View 4 RepliesI have an image of a human body which needs to divided into Hexagonal Grid pattern and the hexagons should be highlighted on mouse rollover and also clicks. It will be time consuming if I make these hexagons manually coz they will around 1000 in numbers.
Also, I need to zoom the hexagons on clicks.
[url]...Now I have a problem, I would like to add DOWNLOAD button for every image, or to add ''Back'' button, and clicking on the image would open it in new window for downlading. I tried to modify code on my own but I didn't succeed a lot. I dont know if I have to put links in XML file and then create new var like ''picUrl'' or something? My main problem is creating function for that.
View 7 RepliesIs there an easy way to embed an image into a flex grid column? Something similar to[url]...
View 1 Replieshere is the existing chunk of code:
if (status != FlexFieldInfo.EDITABLE) {
setToolTip(uiComponent, status, entityForm);
graphics.beginFill(0xFFABC0);
graphics.drawRect(0, 0, unscaledWidth, unscaledHeight);
graphics.endFill();
i would like to replace the background color with a tiling background-image. i understand that "graphics." can only fill or draw. i understand the chunk of "graphics." in the code above needs to change to something else, but i am at a loss of how to call the following image: background-image: Embed("images/bg-uneditableField.jpg");
I have searched high and low unsuccessfully. I am a front-end developer just stepping in to our Flex 3 environment and am not a strong javascript/.as person. Note: our application needs to stay in Flex 3, upgrading is not an option at this time.
Scene: 450 px width. and the boxes (instance name:dot) are 50 px each.
The AS on the timeline:
// IMAGE
PHP Code:
gridx = 60; gridy = 60;
num = 0; mcArray = [];
dot._visible = 0;
for (var i = 0; i<21; i++) {
for (var j = 0; j<1; j++) {
var mc = dot.duplicateMovieClip("dot"+num, num);
[Code] .....
And when It start to slide after a little time the images start to stack on top of each other. How can I solve this ?
