Flash - Adding Time To Timer / Counter

Nov 28, 2011

I've looked all over the web and everyone can teach you how to make a timer for your game or a countdown, but I can't seem to find out how to add time to an already counting timer. So here is my counter class:

package {
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.display.Stage;
import flash.text.TextField;
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.utils.Timer;
[Code] .....

That works without any issues or problems and just keeps counting upwards at a speed of 100ms, what I want to know is how to add say 30 seconds if something happens in my game, say you kill an enemy for example.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create A Counter With Timer And Dynamic Text Field?

I'm trying to create a "counter" element that uses a formatted dynamic text box to count up in .1 increments 3 times a second, starting from a specified value (so viewer would see 3.1, then 3.2...etc.)

Here's the code so far:

var counter:Number;
counter = 3.0
counterText.text=(String(counter));
var timer:Timer = new Timer(300);

[Code]....

What I can't figure out is what should go in the function area, to add .1 seconds each time the timer cycles.

ActionScript 2.0 :: PHP Hit Counter - Adding If Statement

Jun 8, 2005

I'm working with the php hit counter here on the Kirupa site and wondered if there was a way to test the data in the txt file during the loop to determine playback of a movieclip.... in other words, when the loop starts, a variable is created storing the number in the textfile... the next time the loop repeats, the textfile is checked and matched against the variable... if the variable differs from the textfile, the variable value is changed to match the textfile, and a movieclip plays to signal that this change in the textfile has occurred.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Adding Image Counter To Preloader

Oct 20, 2010

I have a preloader on the first frame. It works great, with no problems and it's loading images from a directory. I would like to add to it an image counter, not only the bytes that are loading.

Actionscript Code:
stop();
// array of your movieclips$
mcs = ["page_1.jpg", "page_2.jpg", "page_3.jpg", "page_4.jpg", "page_5.jpg", "page_6.jpg", "page_7.jpg", "page_8.jpg", "page_9.jpg", "page_10.jpg", "page_11.jpg", "page_12.jpg", "page_13.jpg", "page_14.jpg", "page_15.jpg", "page_16.jpg", "page_17.jpg", "page_18.jpg",  "page_19.jpg", "page_20.jpg",
[Code] .....

So, basically I would like to add another dynamic text box in which - as the images are loaded - I would like to have a counter for the images.

Professional :: Why Does Roll Over Counter Have A Time Limit Between Events

Mar 13, 2012

I asked for help earlier with a banner and a button that counts roll overs. I am having an issue where the first movie clips in the array play much more often than the others. When I mouse over every couple of seconds or so, only the red mc plays. When I go a little faster the red and blue mcs play back and forth, and when I do a bunch of mouse overs really fast, then all 3 play in order. What part of the code has something to do with amount of time between roll overs? I want it so that even if I roll over once and then again a minute later, I want the second movie clip in the array to play instead of the first again. Here is the code I have in the first frame of the main timeline, as well as a stop(); in the first frame of each mc.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash Countdown Timer - Change The Targeted Time On The Fly Using Xml

Mar 11, 2007

I am looking for a component/tutorial/movie that is a FLASH countdown timer/clock that you can change the targeted time on the fly using xml. So, the clock might countdown for 4 days, 3 hours and 19 minutes to an event. but then halfway through i decide i want to change the event to a day later, so i need to us xml to dynamically change the clock to add 24 hours or whatever onto the clock without having to go back into the flash file.

Additionally, this flash file will be part of a flash screensaver that has xml driven photo gallery in the background. this photo gallery i can do, but i am looking for a flash countdown with xml access. I am willing to pay/donate for it if there are no free ones available.

Now Im trying to add a time limit, which when the time reaches 0 it jumps to the time up screen. I have spent two whole days searching on google, trying loads of suggestions, trying to figure this out myself.[code]This scripting works on a test page (i.e. away from the actual game) but when I try to add it to my game it deletes the main movieclip (in this case a tank) which is used to play the game.
