Flash Really Going To Be Dead
Feb 23, 2012I am trying to build a website that does webcams and the only technology that I feel is the best is Flash with the least amount of bandwidth consumption. It will be similar to chatroulette.

Oct 23, 2009I'm working with an Actionscript 2.0 flash file (though I'm using CS4), trying to determine the cause of the following problem: The client has a flash menu on their own Site A, hosted on their own server. They have some dynamically generated pages on another server, Site B, and that server displays the information and creates a template by pulling the flash menu remotely from the original site's server, Site A.
The flash displays correctly, rollovers animate and work fine, but none of the buttons get the URL. They're just dead when clicked on, whether their supposed to go to a page on Site A OR Site B.

Mar 31, 2010i set FMS running fine. I have even enabled TCP port forward, not that i need it localy.the thing is, from other machines the FMS wont answer. FME is going

if i go from another lan machine, it simply wont connect.. nor does Access.log relates to anything trying to connect to it. (from other machine, from same machine everything goes smooth)
ActionScript 3.0 :: Sprite Does Not Work At All - They Are Completely Dead
Aug 23, 2010I can put content on the sprite such as TextFields and shapes and then add the sprite to the stage and nothing shows up at all. Sprtes have never worked with this downlo aded trial of Flash Pro CS5, what the heck is going on with this software????? Yes I am using AS3. Something must be seriously wrong with this software. Should I re-download the software and re-install it or what??

May 11, 2010SWF functions beautifully on its own (i.e., animations play, rollovers work). However, when uploaded to the server and dropped into the HTML with the proper plug-ins, the links suddenly cease to function. Flash still plays beautifully - it's just the links that seem to disappear. The one browser where the links seem to work 'as is' is Firefox on PC.
I am using the basic but usually effective:
on (release) { getURL("http://www.site.com"); }
Sorta-solution:Added "_blank" to the end of the script and this worked in all tested browsers... however, the client wants the URL to open in the same window (they have asked not to provide the actual link). Anyone have a concrete idea as to why and how to fix this?
ActionScript 3.0 :: Removing Dead Enemies From An Array Upon Gameload
Jun 4, 2011I am trying to implement saving and loading and it went well until I encountered my arrays of items that can be picked up and put in the inventory, as well as enemies that needs to be removed from the stage upon load if they were dead when the game was saved.I have tried adjusting many different attempts which I found on the internet which were related to my issue, but none of them seemed to work. The last was based on creating a new array and adding enemies to it when they die and in some way splice the enemy-array upon load with the dead enemies. Feb 6, 2010Even though there are plenty introductions to TDD (even in PHP, my primary programming language now),My friend introduced me TDD a while ago, but I wasn't actually able to understand it - what's the point in writing tests to everything first - even the simplest tasks - when in the end, it looks it's more efficient to test only if something doesn't work, although it might be much harder to locate the bug (this could be solved through VCS, no?).So is there any introduction, with dead-simple examples and arguments behind "pros"?Something like "yeah, it's better, because you have better design - look at this example..."I understand that you create "test" and then the function, that should pass the test. But how you say to language, what results should it have? To me it looks that you do some function... debug it (the same way as you debug in no test driven dev.) and call it test and do it again..Also, is this applicable to MVC approach? Or rather, CodeIgniter Newbie MVC?Read a bunch of posted and googled advices, plans, ways and tutorials. I am still not entirely into TDD - I mostly have pretty good visualisation and I think (hope?) I write pretty maintable code, so i still see it as an extra work...

But my problem is how can I link Flash Buttons to a web page, when my site is still being developed and not published? Do I have to publish first?

I just realized that one of the reasons why my program might be running so slow is that I made the images out of lots and lots of circles. When things didn't look right I often just put larger circles over smaller ones. I didn't think that flash might still be drawing the invisible circles underneath-

Dec 4, 2007We've got a green screened video playing in a flash movie over top of our html content.when the movie ends, flash uses external interface .api to call a javascript function which swaps the flash movie out with a 5 x 5 pixel flash movie (rewrites the <div>).this works and you can interact with the html content after the flash movie in all browsers except firefox.anyone know of any work-arounds or is there a better way of handling flash over html in this fashion?

Jan 22, 2010We are developing our app in flash/flex builder for the front end hitting .NET backend webservices. There is one section of the old app that will not be initially converted, so we need have it appear in an iFrame.
So far all that works fine.We shrink the size of the SWF in the host page to just be the menu/nav area. And underneat that I have an iframe control that loads in this page from the old site.Now the problem. in the SWF is a drop down list to enable picking a client. Since the SWF has been shrunk to about 100px high, the drop-down will only occupy within that 100px area which it's opened. This is NOT good as you can imagine. How can I make the drop-down list descend over-top of the IFRAME control and thus extend outside the SWF dimensions? Is this possible?
I tried to make the internal stage transparent and leave the SWF a little larger, about 400 px high, but the IFRAME still appears behind the SWF.

Aug 20, 2010Is the Flash Video (or Flex VideoDisplay) component capable of seeking to an exact moment in a video?It seems to always 'snap' to keyframes (which is understandable). I'm just wondering if there are any mechanisms in the video classes for seeking to exact frames, ie it should do the translation from keyframe to specific frame in the background rather than having to actually play the video forward to the desired frame.This is not a streaming file and has nothing to do with buffering. The player is just downloading a movie file from the web and playing it from memory.

May 17, 2011Good day to everyone. I'm here today to seek help about Flash CS4 and ActionScript 3.0. The story starts when one day, my boss asked me to make a flash presentation about their upcoming user training for a newly developed software. I was enthusiastic and excited about it because it's been a long time that I did not use Flash (note that I don't have any experience in ActionScript 3.0). At first, everything was a bit rough as I need to recall how to properly use the frames to create a successful animation. As I was about to finish the project, my boss approached me again and asked if I could insert a menu page in front so that the users won't have to replay the whole thing again just to look for a little something on that part of the movie. So yea, at first I was abit hesitant to accept. I said that it will work with Powerpoint. But she's a total pusher and I was forced to say yes. Now I'm having this problem about how to make a flash button load a swf movie.I've tried searching all over the net for tutorials but most of the times the "getUrl" and other stuff are said to be outdated.

May 20, 2011I need to catch a hover event on top of a flash object, so I set the wmode and created an invisible div on top of it to attach the event listeners to. Thing is, I can't click the flash object. The cover is swallowing the clicks, and the things I've tried to go around this have made a mess of the hover events.
