Flex :: Determining Index (not Selected One) For TabBar MouseOver

I have an application where I'm trying to update the String for a Label's text property, based on the tab which user has the mouse over. I've constructed a simple example displaying how I would process the eventHandler function if I was going to use the selectedIndex property, however it's the tab that has mouse focus, which may or may not be the selectedItem, that I'd like to reference and I haven't been able to figure out a way to do it.
So here is the example:

I am using a custom skin on Flex's TabBar, and specifically the skin the controls ButtonBarButton. The width of the button is a variable size depending on the text it contains, and background of the button is an image that only displays on the selected states of the button.
The following is my MXML for the skin:

I tried wrapping the entire block in a Group tag, but to no avail. The invisible Rect does indeed fix the "machine gun" flickering that occurred when the mouse hovered over any edge of the button, but there is still a flicker on every mouse enter and mouse leave of each button.

In the following working example the list's selected index is supposed to reset to 0 whenever the text box changes. However, for some odd reason every other keystroke the selected item disappears and then reappears at the subsequent keystroke.

I am performing a find operation in a datagrid on one of the columns. After I find the row containing the item, I make that as the selected index row, which highlights it. But now I also want to scroll the datagrid down or up (if the item is out of screen scope) to show that selected item automatically on this find operation.

The request has been to modify the first item by including an FLV player. This I've done and have working without flaw.My trouble arises when users select any of the other 4 tabs and then attempt to return to the first tab where they should see a transition into the playing FLV. This is not happening after the initial load. It's been quite awhile since I've worked with AS but I figure this issue should be able to be resolved if I inject a condition to determine what item is selected.
The AS for the "accordian" is:

This isn't working. In fact, it seems to be skipping the initial condition if(t == "welcome"). If the nave is determined within the var navs:Array, how then can one determine the selected location?

I want the selectedIndex to remain the same. So, if I delete item 2, the next in the list should be selected. The problem is that if I delete item 2, item 3 will be selected and I have no idea why.

How should I go about matching the selected row of a sorted DataGrid to its source data row within its associated data provider?
For example, once a user sorts a DataGrid by clicking on one of the column headers, the target.selectedIndex from the CHANGE event (generated next time a row is selected) represents the index of the sorted row and not the index of the data as supplied by the data provider. Is there a simple way to map the index of the user selection back to the index of the original data?

by the way the actual situation is that I'm tryin to show the data of a selected row in a datagrid, when a row is selected the current slide is set as invisible and the message_view slide is made visible and the data is shown in a text box. e.g.

I have a combobox that displays a list of items from an array (we'll call this Array1). Of course, an item can be selected, and the user is displayed a small output describing the item that was selected.
I created another array that contains the URL for items in the above array, Array1. How can I get the index value of a selected item from Array1? Here is the code I used:

I have a basic mouseover in my flex application which changes an image onmouseover and changes it back onmouseout using the code mouse Over "functionToChangeImageSource()" and another one to mouseout.It works fine when you slowly mouse over and out, however if I quickly move the mouse over it, it occasionally stays on the mouseover image and the mouseout function doesnt appear to kick in. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or does anyone have any ideas why its happening?Also, I've tried the rollOver and rollOut instead but it has the same problem.[code]I'd imagine you're correct about the mouseover event not completing before mouseout is but how to I fix this?

I change an item in Spark List. The item then moves to a different index in the list since I keep the List's dataProvider sorted. However, the selectedIndex stays where the item used to be. I want the List's selectedIndex to still be on the item that changed.

I have a spark TabBar and I want to hide and show some elements of it from an external user input (namely a checkbox check)
I am having trouble changing the tabs visibility. They are currently always shown.
I have seen a getTabAt on the mx TabBar but the look of the tab is important and the requirement is for it to look like a tab bar rather than a button bar.
My code for the tabs and for hiding and showing is below:

Is there any way to disable a few columns for a particular row in flex datagrid?
I have a datagrid with about 10 or more columns, say for example a few column names are: Item Id, Item Name, Item Status and VerifiedState. Initially I want the column Verified State to be disabled.
Now When the value of the column, Item Status is Review Passed for a particular row, I want the column VerifiedState to be enabled and editable. Is that possible in Flex datagrid.

is there a common way to disable a tab of a spark tabbar component in flex 4? with the mx tabnavigator component you can just disable the content corresponding to the tab and the tab is also disabled then. but doing this with the spark tab bar component disables just the content not the tab.[code]

I'm using a custom tabbar with the dataProvider being a viewstack and I'm trying to get the tab labels to update when data in the related container (in the viewstack) updates. The viewstack's containers are bound to bindable vars, so if a var changes, the data/labels/etc in the container updates, but the tab doesn't.Is there a way to bind the tab to the same bindable var or do i need to write event handlers (if so, what events)?

I have a TabBar Control with 3 tab, i need to add controls(Button,Label) dynamically in to each tab, I can add the controls to the initial selected tab but when i add to next tab , i am getting Null exception error That is when TabBar property selectedIndex="0" means i can add to 1st tab.but not in 2 and 3rd. when Tabbar property selectedIndex="1" means i can add to 2nd tab.but not in 1 and 3rd.

In the MX TabBar component, the iconField property allowed us to display different icons in each tab. In Spark, there does not seem to be an inherent way to add icons to the TabBar.Does anyone have an example of implementing icon support for Spark's TabBar?

problem is I have a spark Tabbar, with many forms in each tab. But I have a single global save button.problem is, if I don't open a Tab,it doesn't get initialized and therefore the forms it contains do not exist..

i have a datagrid which contains a number of itemrenderers, it is populated each time a user does a search. Is there an event which can tell me when the datagrid has completed rendering all new rows and item renderers?
I need to trigger an event once everything has been created so that i can resize then container which holds the grid.
Currently im using DataGridEvent.HEADER_RELEASE and CollectionEvent.COLLECTION_CHANGE events to manage this however the problem with these events is that they get called as each new row is being added to the datagrid.

I have a large Flex project with two Applications in it. A lot of code is shared between these Applications. However, the smaller of the Applications does not require much of the code that the larger one does. I'm trying to ensure that code that isn't required by the smaller application isn't getting compiled into it.
