Graphics - How To Make SWF Display Exactly What PSD Does

I have two layers in Photoshop: 1 -- a texture, 2 -- a semi-transparent image that overlaps texture. The combination of the two looks nice in Photoshop. I export them separately from Photoshop saving them as 24 bit PNG with transparency and colors converted to sRGB. (Working color space of PS is sRGB.) The result of importing them into flash makes me cry (see images below, note what areas around crosses look like).
I tried both loading PNGs dynamically and directly importing them into fla (compression type: lossles, allow smoothing: false). Looks like semi-transparent areas are saved inaccurately on export. What's more puzzling to me is why the results differ between dynamic loading and direct importing. Here is that psd I'm stuck upon. Inside the zip you'll find transparency.psd, which has only two layers. I still have no luck in placing them into fla: transparent areas get dirty. [URL]

The documentation for the List component at[URL].. states "A list can also display graphics, including other components," but nowhere can I find an example of HOW to make this happen. Can anyone please point me to a working example, I really need to be able to leverage this functionality, but I cannot for the life of me find anywhere it's being done.

Regarding the code below, when Document class is "Main" [the intended default condition] I do not get the graphics declared in class Thing (ie., in object myThing:Thing) put on stage. Why??? Whereas when I define Document class as Thing, then yes theses graphics do appear on stage. So the syntax itself is OK

I am trying to make a sprite button with graphics and can't make it work. I have successfully added text fields so I know the path is correct. I suspected my code was correct and confirmed it should be, after reading several tutorials showing the process for creating sprite buttons with graphics. Anyway, I imported nearly every class on Earth, but certainly everything which needs to be. Stage is gray and 800x600.The graphics code by itself with appear, but not when linked to the sprite. Also, the sprite won't appear no matter what. Another interesting piece of the puzzle: nothing will trace, not even objects such as textfields which actually appear and function on the stage when I text the code.

I am using a third party flash as3 code to load graphics using sprite. There is a class (load) that takes care of the loading of the graphics.In a new class(getname), I want to be able to1. Load the graphics (done)2. On mouseover change the color of graphics(done)3. Display name of rolled over graphic (not working). I have tried the following in

I get a null object error. Now I have used the mousevent routine(e.target.name) and can display the instance #(instance149). But what I really want is the name of the graphics that the load function loads (graphics and the dbf with all the attributes including the name).

but when i test it instead of the object dragging the object works like a handle and drags my gif around the screen instead of just the button...

I am making an application, that will let you enter your name and then a car will drive each letter of your name in the sand. I have made a car and my artist made letters with vector graphics as a single line (.ai). But now I don't get how to make an algorithm that will drive through the lines of each letter. My first solution would be to make an editor, where you can create path, but I don't have that much time. Is there a chane to make path from vector graphics so that the care can drive through it?

I have a client who wants some graphics to appear "coming onto the screen from the sides." They are flames, to be exact. She does not want them to just come in inside the "box" (stage). She wants them to appear coming in from the sides of the browser window. Is there a way to do this? That is, can you make graphics or movie clips that start off outside of the frame appear in the browser when the swf file is saved?

I was wondering about MC and hey can help to lag a game out. I set up an advanced class system so i don't have to use MC to simulate walls, all i use isthe x,y,width and height. Well anyway since i don't need MC anymore I was wondering if there is a way to attach Graphics instead of MC cause a Graphics file size is relatively small than that of a graphic, I think. If anyone could tell me thats true and show me a way to attach graphics that would be nice. I haven't tried it yet but maybe if I exported the graphic from the library imihgt be able to call its name, but it doesn't have an instance name so im stuck.

I have a large vector drawing (imagine 5000x5000) that i want to break up into separate pieces. I know that I can convert this vector drawing into a bitmap and then use the copyPixels method to create many separate bitmaps of the different regions of the original vector drawing, but is there any way to subdivide it into movieclips that just contain vector graphics instead of a bitmap?The reason im dividing a big chunk of vector graphics into smaller pieces is for performance reasons, so flash would only render a small part of this big chunk at a time (only certain regions/voxels/subdivisions are rendered at a time). But bitmaps apparently take up a lot of memory and the system im using would take much less memory if these subdivisions could be preserved in their original vector graphics form.
I imagine I could use masks somehow to achieve this effect (for each subdivision, duplicate the huge image and mask only the region that the subdivision represents), but I dont know the performance costs of masking or if this will create other problems.So is there anyway to split up a movieclip of vector graphics into smaller movieclips of vector graphics the same way copyPixels can with bitmaps?

I haven't used Flash in quite a while and wanted to make an animation to display quite a few photos. As i'm out of practice, linking videos kind of skipped my mind and therefore my first file which has lots of images in has become quite heavy and slow to run.My problem is... Is there a quick and easy way i can directly switch one part of an animation with another, keeping all the tweens and actions that are on it? (EG I want to switch out images for the same images saved as smaller files)
Or, is there a way i can scale down the movie in size to make it run smoother? I am going to have quite a lot of photos in a series of linked videos, but as i forgot about it, my first video has too much content and is too big in file size. It can be quite big as it's only for use on my mac (not online) but i still need it smaller as it won't run smoothly.

How should I implement this? should I draw the right side information box as picture, and then write a script to ask information to display when mouse is on certain state, is this a movie clip?

Usually a song name in music players, like in Winamp for example, song name scrolls from right to left. The only way I can think of is to have 2 dynamic textfields, both having the same text, one next to each other (with desired spacing in between), and then in enter frame or with timer move them both (below the mask) from one side to another, and when each textfiled crossed certain point, move it behind the other and repeat this action forever...

Is it possible to make a flash for a viewer to upload and display a photo temporarily, possibily automatically resize it if it is too small or large, while at the same time a few fixed lines of measurements appear on top of the photo that can be stretched or shrinked so the viewer can measure part of the photo?

I am a full time web designer for a company that specialises in building online booking websites for the travel industry.I am an expert when it comes to Photoshop, but Flash is still quite new to me, I know the basics on how to make a flash display banner for an ad campaign but that's about as far as it goes.Basically I am creating an ad banner for a client, I have decided to use vector graphics for button/lozenges instead of PNGs to save on file size. However, when I create the buttons/lozenges on the stage the text seems perfectly aligned within. However, when I publish the SWF it seems to misalign. Look at the screenshot below for an example of what I mean.

In case, we are talking about playing cards, and it happens that all the cards, I mean the 3 cards are aces, or tens or kings,and in this situation, I want to display a text or make a sound; The part with the sound or the text is easy for me; I have no problem with that.I know intuitively that I have to make a condition which is the following:

I am making a simple word processing widget, like this one: [URL] for my kindergarten classroom.
The problem is that the embedded font does not use a lined space when you hit the space bar. It makes a space. The lined space is created by hitting the "" key --just above enter. I have been trying to use a key listener to add the lined space to the text box when you hit the space bar. It works, only it also gives you the "space" created by the space bar.
Basically, on the stage is an input text box (myTextbox) with the font embedded. Here is my script:

Ok I have a bunch of movie clips that the player can interact with. And i also have a text field that I would like to show the names of those different movie clips as they are being interacted with. For example if the player clicks on a apple mc the text field will display the word apple. here is the code that i have tried
