I recently installed Adobe Flash Professional CS5, but now any SWF I have on my computer won't play. If you double click on them the files aren't recognized by any program. A pop-up window then asks if you would like to search the net for the appropriate program. I downloaded the latest flash player, but that didn't work either.

View 1 RepliesI installed Flash CS4 a couple of days ago. Trying it out for the first time today. I went to import a video & got a message: "The required version of Adobe Media Encoder is not installed or the installation is damaged. Please reinstall."
I'm showing a Media Encoder CS4 folder under my Adobe folder, so I assume I've got the latest version installed, but it's a corrupt installation & I need to reinstall. My question is: do I need to redo the whole Flash CS4 installation? The reason I ask is that our IT provided me with multiple files for the install - there's ADBEFLPRCS4Win_LS1.exe. That's for the main install. But there's also a ADOBEFLPRCS4Win_Cont_LS1.exe. That's the added content file. I don't want to uninstall/reinstall Flash if I don't have to. Does anybody know if Media Encoder installs from the main Flash installation file, or from the added content installation file?
I want to detect if the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is installed on the machine using Adobe AIR.
How do I detect that the JRE has been installed on the machine?
Adobe AIR is pretty heavy. So is it necessary to be installed on my phone? Are there any alternatives to it..something lightweight.
View 2 RepliesI'm running XP and have installed 6 .otf fonts, from the Avenir family. Flash MX 2004 and Flash 8 don't see all but the Light and Roman versions of the font (they are the only ones that appear in the font menu). Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop display all the fonts, however.
An associate suggested that sometimes Flash doesn't like the names to be non-standard; in other words, it doesn't like "Heavy", but prefers "Bold", etc. This seems to support the fonts not being displayed in the Flash font menu, as they are AvenirLTStd-Heavy.otf, AvenirLTStd-HeavyOblique.otf, AvenirLTStd-LightOblique.otf and AvenirLTStd-Oblique.otf. The only two being displayed in the font menu are AvenirLTStd-Roman.otf and AvenirLTStd-Light.otf ("Roman" and "Light" are pretty traditional names).
I've tried renaming the fonts to "Bold" and "italic", etc., but Windows still sees the original names. I've tried opening the fonts in Notepad and changing all references (for example, all "Heavy" to "bold"), but saving the font file (even if I add and remove a space) makes it unreadable as a font (security issues, I think). One reason I think it's a naming issue, is I did try renaming Heavy to Roman, and installed it, and Flash saw it as Roman, but it had the Heavy characteristic. This work-around doesn't work, however, as I need Roman, too (and renaming it Roman2 doesn't work). Is there any solution for this? I need access to all of the Avenir font family, as it's for a branded project that uses Avenir specifically. Oh, and last but not least, I have the fonts installed on my Mac, and Flash 8 and CS3 both see all the fonts, no problem.
I use tinychat and tinypic. Now when I go on either one the text is invisible. I cant see any text, its there cause I can copy and paste it. I did not have this problem until I updated my flash.

View 2 RepliesI have made a mp3 player that is working fine, it plays a mp3 radio stream for several hours (last crash was after 6,5 hours) and then it crashes without any message or exception. This is very difficult to debug because it only happen after a couple of hours with the same stream. It appear in all browsers so it is a Adobe Flash problem or is this a buffer problem?
Must i use other buffering settings to play MP3 streams? Does anybody know this problem and what can be done to avoid this? Also another question is why memory consumption after hibernation of the pc is growing dramaticly (every second it eats a couple of 10Kb). After refreshing the page it is stable again. Why is this happening? Mp3 player is made in Flash 9 (CS3) with AS3 and the player is Flash 10 (latest). Running on Windows XP Prof with 3GB RAM.
I have tried really hard to find an example showing how to play speex encoded audio in flash. I tried the following code -

I tested the above code with .flv videos and AAC encoded audio files and it works just fine. But when I try stream_ns.play("sample.spx") I get a stream not found exception.
Am I using the wrong container (.spx) for speex audio. Is playing speex audio from a file supported?

Is there any possible way to play a .jpeg sequence using .flv player on-the-fly ? I mean, by not needing to convert the entire sequence into one single .flv ? Since I'm not familiar with flash neither action script, I was surfing the web in hope to find any template or tips about similar things to that but I couldn't...

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash Pro and Flash Builder but it did not resolve my problem. I was able to publish the same FLA files about a month ago and did a successful test of my app on an iPad. I made a small change to the size of a slider. This error occured when I tried to republish.I don't know what files are missing but I'm guessing it is something to do with installing AIR for iOS. After reinstalling, my Flash CS5.5 folder includes an AIR2.6 subfolder but not AIR2.7

Object has already been created in Adobe Illustrator, and now will be dropped into flash for adding movement. The destination commercial will be created in Sony Vegas, with the settings of (Australian) PAL television (25 fps, 576x720 pixels, lower field first).Thus keeping it simple, I want to set Adobe flash with the same output format, meaning that the canvas will have to be 576x720 pixels at 25 fps. So far this seems to have worked okay.Now I'm wanting to get rid of the canvas colour, just like I have here in this photoshop screen shot.
Judging by the colour palette in Flash Professional, it looks like it can't be done. I've checked "transparent palette" through yahoo and google, and had no results. The adobe documentation only details how to remove a background in Photoshop.
I am using AS2 in CS5.5.I am creating a project for a class that introduced me to adobe flash. The issue is I have gotten to a certain point about 15 scenes. During say the 15th scene scrolling through the timeline animations works fine, playing it on test scene works fine. When I go to play it on test movie it stops at a certain point. At first I thought it might have been a misplaced stop action but there is none to be found. The weird part is every other scene I create after that continues to freeze as well, the images are there, but the animations won't play. All my previous animations play before those with the issue, it's justThese new ones won't play for some reason in test movie, but work completely fine in test scene and the timeline.
View 4 Repliesok so i have a button that plays an animation for fire when held down. and when realsed goes to and stops and frame one. when it reaches the end of the time line it goes to and plays at frame 10 and goes back to the end of the timeline. I have a sound for the fire animation that plays for the effect. The problem is the sound keeps going untill its over even if the button isnt held down. and when the playhead reaches the end of the timeline it goes to and plays and frame 10 and it replays the sound. if i hold it down it will just keep playing the sound over and over from start to finish. what i want it to do it when i hold the button down i want it to play the sound and when released it stops the sound where ever it is at. I also dont the sound to play again if there is a sound already going to stop it from playing 20 sounds at one time it gets loud and you need asprin after about 5 seconds of that.

I have installed removed and reinstalled the latest Flash. I have even physically removed the Quicktime plugin (from the library/internet plugins) and the Quicktime application (from applications).
