I use tinychat and tinypic. Now when I go on either one the text is invisible. I cant see any text, its there cause I can copy and paste it. I did not have this problem until I updated my flash.
View 3 RepliesI have this issue where I'm incapable of viewing any text in the chatlog box, the text entry line, the userlist, or the pop-up Flashplayer option menus when using [URL] online chat application. The pop-up Flashplayer option menus do have outlines for buttons as well as having icons in the bottom-row of buttons yet lack text completely.

This began after the installation of the latest version of Flash Player about two weeks ago (I've been busy )

I'm running XP and have installed 6 .otf fonts, from the Avenir family. Flash MX 2004 and Flash 8 don't see all but the Light and Roman versions of the font (they are the only ones that appear in the font menu). Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop display all the fonts, however.
An associate suggested that sometimes Flash doesn't like the names to be non-standard; in other words, it doesn't like "Heavy", but prefers "Bold", etc. This seems to support the fonts not being displayed in the Flash font menu, as they are AvenirLTStd-Heavy.otf, AvenirLTStd-HeavyOblique.otf, AvenirLTStd-LightOblique.otf and AvenirLTStd-Oblique.otf. The only two being displayed in the font menu are AvenirLTStd-Roman.otf and AvenirLTStd-Light.otf ("Roman" and "Light" are pretty traditional names).
I've tried renaming the fonts to "Bold" and "italic", etc., but Windows still sees the original names. I've tried opening the fonts in Notepad and changing all references (for example, all "Heavy" to "bold"), but saving the font file (even if I add and remove a space) makes it unreadable as a font (security issues, I think). One reason I think it's a naming issue, is I did try renaming Heavy to Roman, and installed it, and Flash saw it as Roman, but it had the Heavy characteristic. This work-around doesn't work, however, as I need Roman, too (and renaming it Roman2 doesn't work). Is there any solution for this? I need access to all of the Avenir font family, as it's for a branded project that uses Avenir specifically. Oh, and last but not least, I have the fonts installed on my Mac, and Flash 8 and CS3 both see all the fonts, no problem.

View 4 RepliesI recently installed Adobe Flash Professional CS5, but now any SWF I have on my computer won't play. If you double click on them the files aren't recognized by any program. A pop-up window then asks if you would like to search the net for the appropriate program. I downloaded the latest flash player, but that didn't work either.

View 1 RepliesI've made a flash file (mac, Flash 5.5) and exported the .html. .swf and .js file with settings to Flash player 8.My viewers on a PC (Firefox 8 on XP) keep getting asked to download Flash player 8 even though they already have Flash 10 installed.I've even unticked the 'check for flash version' option in the publish settings, but the users still get asked to update to player 8.

View 2 RepliesFlash cs4 was installed and worked fine until lately. I cannot draw, use pen, shape tools, or load any previous pictures created in flash using the actionscript 3.0 new doc create. When I click/drag-- the image is there, but as soon as I unclick the image dissapears. Properties inspector shows that there is content but they are invisible. .fla files that I hve created and saved before open, but page is blank. The weirdest thing is that when I open a new doc using the AS 2.0 selection, everything works fine.I am somewhat coherent in the basic functionality of flash, and have tried the obvious i.e. fill and stroke colors, but I don't remember changing any settings.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash Pro and Flash Builder but it did not resolve my problem. I was able to publish the same FLA files about a month ago and did a successful test of my app on an iPad. I made a small change to the size of a slider. This error occured when I tried to republish.I don't know what files are missing but I'm guessing it is something to do with installing AIR for iOS. Ive got my dancing fruit sorted, however when I save the file as an animated gif and put it in my application the gif has the stage background. If it wasnt animated I could edit the back ground in photo shop, but I dont seem to be able to with the animated file. Is there anyway I can just have my dancing fruit with out the stage?

View 5 RepliesI'm rather wet to AS3, and have been working on developing a site that can deal with a lot of content sections. Ignoring the fact that I haven't figured out button arrays yet, I was hoping to get some help on an issue I can't get past.
I've got a series of content movieclips which I'm controlling with menu buttons. As you can see below, they turn visible/invisible by clicking the menu buttons.
However, I can't seem to find a solution to reload the movieclips once a different menu button is selected, so each section stays forever in its previously "played" state when the button is clicked again. Is there a way to get the "content_section" movieclips to re-load or re-set once another navigation button is pressed?

My items no longer sit on top of the gray area outside the stage. When I try to move an item off the stage it goes under and I cant see it.I am using cs 5.5. I think I must have changed an option somewhere, becuase if I open up a new document everything is fine.

Basically, when I have invisible content over a button in my flash movie, the button no longer works. Like I said, it's something that's never been an issue before.
Where it shows up is when I want to make a piece of content visible over a button when the user mouses over the button, so the piece of content would start over the button with its alpha set to 0. I would typically change the visibility of the object I want to make visible when the button is rolled over. But now when that object is over my button at 0 opacity, the button no longer works....and again, I've never had this be an issue before.
I am embarrassed to admit that I am still working in Flash 6. But I am. I do not have the ability to upgrade at this point. I have created a contact form and all is working, but the input text is invisible to the end user. Oddly, anything that is typed is sent ok, they just can't see anything they are typing!
View 10 RepliesI'm running my head against a wall here and I'm not sure how to tackle this problem. Background I'm making some sort of movie player with subtitles overlayed on it. I'm using the root timeline for my movie timeline because this greatly increases development speed. The subtitles are created with the texttool, and I make them dynamic textboxes because I need to reference them in AS3. I cannot wrap them into a movieclip because they need to be in sync with the root timeline
The user should be able to enable or disable (effectively showing or hiding) the subtitles. The way I did this is by adding an event listener that listens to Event.Enter_Frame on the root timeline and a global boolean to indicate whether subs should be shown. In the enter frame event listener I search for the textfield by root.getChildByName (the name is the same each time) and show or hide the textfield accordingly.

I have a component called "liveTEXT" that I purchased that allows for the client to edit certain text sections to be edited by them on the front end of the site. Right there in the site. The problem I am having is that if I have this liveTEXT on say frame 100, and I go to frame 101, the text is still their overlayed over the content of that page. I am trying to close on as I am attempting to get this incorporated into my website. It came with the recommendation to try the CS5 today to see if this will meet the requirement at the moment.There is a desire to take custom SWF files (I think there is something called Swish files too?) from various sponsors for advertisement purposes and place them on my website.The implementation was straight-forward to make them work through the webserver.I tried a custom example of making a button that upon mouse click would open up a new webpage in CS5 which did work for me.My problem is since the SWF files are finalized, there is no way to put URL information into those files.After doing a lot of searching around today, it appears that the best way to redirect a user upon click of a video is to:
1) Open up a new Flash
2) Import the SWF video file into the project
3) Create a Invisible Button over top the SWF video so when the user clicks, they are redirected to a specific URL.
But for some reason, when I tried to overlay it with a sample SWF file I imported, there was all this flickering going on to where both were made transparent to one another on the screen not to mention the video wasn't even visible at all.My hope was that the SWF video could be seen clearly while the button remained invisbile to handle the click on the video.Is there someone on the forum that is able to guide me fairly quickly with a fast-path procedure so that I can try this?

View 2 RepliesI register my fonts once they are loaded. In my head I should be able to use them once they are. But I wasn't so I tweaked my code, here it is but it still makes the text invisible. As soon as I do embedFonts = false, it starts working again.

I have a movie clip which has a dynamic mask applied to it to provide a scroll effect.
The mask is generated with the 'create blank movieclip' method.
So the mask is a movie clip over a movie clip.
I hunted for invisible text last night and found this link [URL]
which implies it's to do with the mask being on a layer, but from what I can gather from reading the AS, it's not it's on a new blank movie clip.
Also many other links I found all imply it's an issue with dynamic text and the font needs to be embeded, but the underlying text is not dynamic, it's static normal text which has been used in a movieclip to create animated rollover/out effects.
So why is the text missing when the content is scrolled into view?
If you hover over where the text is supose to be, the animation plays and the text becomes visible?
Also the arrow graphic next to the text which forms part of the animation does display; it's just the text portion which is invisible?
