How would I go about setting up a situation where, I preferably create a motion graphics piece in After Effects and turn it into an swf. The piece will ,say, have a head shot photo of someone as the background in the movie. I want to create a situation where the user can upload a head shot photo and their uploaded photo will become the new background in the piece......is this possible? I've seen sights like jibjab and oddcast where the user can superimpose themselves into silly animations .....so I'm assuming it must be possible?

Im working on CMS for a site I made for a client, for gallery they have separated projects , where are 10-30 photos on each of them.
For the moment I only know how to make an upload on 1 preset folder. Here is AS2 code and PHP code i am using right now.
I have a PHP code to scan all directories and files, so that part shouldnt be a problem.
How do i make an upload on folder that user Selects ??

I am trying to work out if FMS is the solution I am looking for. I am trying to create a system that will store data, and upload it to a database when the user leaves the page. I thought the best way to achieve this would be to send a data object to the media server, check on an interval to see if the user is still active and then somehow upload the data when their "session" times out.

I've developed a system that uses SWFUpload to easily allow the user to upload multiple files with a progress bar showing them the upload progress. It all works fine in my development environment, but is failing for some users in the wild with the Flash movie not loading. I can see the Flash movie is there, if I right click it a window appears saying Movie not loaded... (Then on the next line) About Adobe Flash Player 10...So far I've not been able to determine what was causing the failure.Are there any other alternatives to SWFUpload that will allow for:
Upload progress bar
Allow multiple uploads

Basically im building a flash based drum head designer for users to upload their own image, resize, add text etc, then it be uploaded to a web server when they complete the purchase.
I have all the server side part working, able to send a 2800px square image and compress it into a 1.5MBish jpg.
the problem im having is for the user to upload an image into flash. I've seen prototypes where it uploads the image to the server, then flash loads that image, then upoads the completed one, but this uses alot of transfers.
What I hoped to achieve is something similar to the system on the [URL] website where the image is stored in the cache first. I have spent hours looking for resources on importing user images into flash without uploading first.

Using BlazeDS 'Custom' authentication (username and password are entered through a flex form)
Using BlazeDS per session authentication
In regular AMF calls, we can access user principal and use role mechanism. However, in our upload servlet, we have no access to user principal.

I want users to be able to upload audio files to my server (say, over HTTP.. mechanism doesn't matter much), and then I'd like to assemble those files into a playlist and stream them out over a live RTMP stream to a Flash widget.The catch is: I'd like to begin streaming the audio files before they completely finish uploading. For example, if a user uploads an hour-long mp3, I'd like it to be able to begin playing on the RTMP stream once, say, the first minute has been uploaded.I'd like to support mp3 and AAC, and would hope to avoid re-encoding the files. Is is there a way to make this work with Wowza, Flash Media Server, or some other clever solution?

The purpose of this is too allow a user to upload an image from their machine to be displayed on a website. The code's pretty straight forward and i have it all working fine, but have come across an issue. When certain portrait images are selected to be loaded and displayed, they get rotated at some point in the process and become landscape? There doesn't appear to be any consistency to the way they are rotated. Some are clockwise, some counter clockwise.
The one thing i've noticed though, is that it doesn't appear to be an issue with images that have been re-saved (so simply taken into photoshop and then saved without any modification), only images that are the original source of an image taken by a digital camera? This has got me wondering whether there's a possible issue with flash reading the meta data of the source image? The attached zip file contains the source code and swf, a selection of images from 2 different camera's and a modified image.
Just to note, due to the dimensions of the images, in the source code the bitmap is scaled to 0.1 so that the result can be clearly seen. I've tested this without the scaling and the image still gets rotated. There's a trace in the Event.COMPLETE handler of the Loader.loadbytes() method and you can see from this that the width and height of the loaded image have been switched? Note - due to the size of the zip file (4.6MB) because of the images, i've put them up on my server for download instead.[URL]

I've been reading a lot about the benefits of Object Pooling. Found some "tutorials" online, all above my skill level. Can anyone please show me an extremely simple example of an Object Pool. What my game does is creates Ball objects when the user holds down the mouse, stops when user lifts up mouse. I need to store these Ball objects in an array(or Vector), and hit test them with other objects, removing them from the stage when the hit another object. I'd like to create a pool of say 20 of so, created once, and recycle them.

I have been following several tutorials on how to create a file upload tool, from: [URL] and best off all I have exhausted google and Adobe labs... and I magically have a tool [URL] (left button: browse, right button: upload). Maybe it's a security thing? but my images are just not uploading!? I have fed all information through the text box - which should give you an upload status when you click upload - at least it does on the computer, just not on line. How to check for security or how to interpret the results. Although most of the code I have used is from adobe labs, it has been copied and pasted but not in a lazy fashion, I have learned a lot about the upload tool as I've gone along... well I thought I did, but this is one heck of a brick wall!?

In the past I have created a flash contact form online which used PHP to send emails which worked perfectly.
My new project wants to be able to upload a file (PDF only) and then use PHP to email it to me as an attchment. I cannot do this yet but there seems to be enough resources online to figure it out.
My main question is that along with the attchment, I'd like flash to generate anothger attachment which would contain information the user had entered (many fileds including address and file info etc) - possibly in XML. When I get this attchment, I would like somehow to use a different flash program locally to import this xml file to its own database.
Is there a smart way of doing this other than manually dragging the xml file from the email into a folder and then locating it through flash to import it? Maybe running a BAT dos program to move/copy/launch things?

I need to create an image upload app for our company's facebook page. I've been able to successfully create the app on facebook and it pulls from a location on our web server. Right now it's just an index.cfm file with hello world in it.We're having a photo contest and what we need to do is provide a quick form (name, email, phone, photo to upload, and photo description).When a user fills out the form and uploads the image, the image shows on our app with the description and then we are notified that someone has uploaded and image.

I am trying to create a multiple file upload flash application to be called from an External Interface, but it isn't working.

When I run the script and comment out the fileRef parts and uncomment the alert call, it shows the alert, also when I comment out the ExternalInterface call, leaving only the fileRef parts, it shows the file upload dialog.

I'm trying to create a resizing script for a client that is allowing users to upload photos through their site. SInce most of the photos will be huge this will help in performance. I've had some experience in the saving of a jpeg from Flash but I'm stuck with the scaling. I'm saving the uploaded file to the server. Reloading it into a movie clip, resizing it based on my desired sizes and then saving it back to the server in its new size. When I'm resizing I'm just using the scale properties to resize the loaded large image. When I get my bitmap data of the scale mc it's not taking the data from the scaled clip it's taking the data from the unscaled mc. So my data is basically the upper left hand corner of the original image instead of the whole image.
I've tried nesting the movie clips so that the top clip isn't scaled.I've tried duplicating the data from the scaled clip into a new non scaled clip and that doesn't work either.I've tried not using scale and just using width and height, doesn't work either.

I'm using Dreamweaver CS3. I'm new to Flash and It seems that every time I take 3 steps forward I have to take one back. I've inserted the .swf into the html page, where it resides inside a cell within a table. It plays there, and in Preview In Browser.I've uploaded the .html page to the server but the movie (and all the code relating to it) will not go along with the rest of the page contents. There is no trace of any movie coding anywhere on that .html page on the server.I have three other Flash movies on this site, all on different .html pages. All the elements of all the Flash movies are in their own folders, all of which reside in one single Flash folder. The other three movies play successfully on the server.
And on my computer, in Dreamweaver Code View, the correct path to the .swf file is present.But, only for that one movie, none of the Flash movie code will upload to the server. I'd like to supply a web address, but this forum does not allow the inclusion of URLs. To bad, it would certainly clarify the problem.
