View 2 RepliesI've got a Flash site up that is almost finished, but it just needs preloaders. [URL]. I plan on using this type of preloader in the gallery section and before the root movie is launched. I'm looking for a preloader that preloads the _root movie, and all of the content it loads on it's level, which will be external SWF files. I plan on using the loader in two ways for the site:
- For the preloader that I will insert before the entire movie, I plan on loading the tattoos/merchandise/contact/news external SWFs which will makeup the content of the _root movie.
- For the preloader used in the tattoos/gallery I plan on using it to display a loading bar on top of the button thumbnail clicked, then displaying the pop-up enlarged image (which is an external SWF file) of the thumbnail on top of the entire movie once the loading is finished.
I've tried some of the preloader examples given in the tutorial section without much luck.
Ive been looking into whether or not, it is possible to load the entirety of site content dynamically from a text file. I know, how to specifically choose and reference from one txt file to a dynamic text block. But, is there a way to have one huge file? That is to say, can I target certain things within a txt file?
View 2 RepliesI am currently using to in a sound player in an on the homepage of an html/asp website. At the moment it plays some welcome audio when the visitor arrives on the site (index.asp), however it does get an little annoying when it plays everytime you go onto the homepage.
Is their any way of setting a session variable in actionscript that only plays the audio once when using the site?
I'm currently trying to build my first flash site.I have just set up the buttons which get to each 'section' via frame labels and the AS3 gotoAndStop function.These work without error until my 'sections' contain movieclips that are referenced in my actionscript layer... Because they do not exist in 'all frames', whenever I click my buttons I get the error, "Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference."It took me a while to understand and track down why I was getting this. I removed the short bit of code in my actionscripts layer that referenced the movieclips in each section (I had some custom scrollbars set up) and it worked without error.
View 2 Repliesi have made a site in flash. stage size 955x600 i have exported it as fullscreen with no scale. the problem is that if i browse the site with a resolution of 800x600 (760x420 if i'm not wrong), the browser dont' add scrolls and its impossible to see the complete site. How can i fix this without resizing the site. i want the users to see with the proportions that i have now.. ijust want a scroll on the browser.

View 1 RepliesI'm making a presentation in Flash that needs to be put on a DVD, which we will given to people in my organization to view at home. The presentation will not contain any interactivity. It will have text, music, video, and narration.
The videos will be short and contain sound, should I embed them in the fla file? I planned to break the presentation into scenes to make it easier to manage, and so they'll just play one after another. My computer can burn DVDs, so I was just going to export the swf to DVDS.

I'm primarily a web designer, not a video guy, I've always just used the built in Insert FLV function in Dreamweaver to put Flash Video in. View 1 RepliesI'm doing a project using FLARManager augmented reality and the Papervision3D library. Unfortunately, Papervision is giving me a lot of problems.My scene3D contains a DAE model and a plane. The plane has a MovieMaterial and is playing a video through FLVPlayback. The DAE and the plane are both inside the same DisplayObject3D container. FLARManager transforms the container so that everything appears through the angle of the marker.
My DAE model is a TV, the screen of the TV is transparent. I want to have my Plane inside of my DAE model, so that the Movie playing on the plane material appears to be what is playing on the TV.The problem is that, even if the plane has a lower Z index then the TV, it always appears in front of the TV.
How do I have my plane and its MovieMaterial appear behind the TV, so that some of its corners are cut out by the TV and the part of the TV thats transparent let me see the Movie? If its impossible, anyone has an idea of how I could get the desired effect of having a movie play on the screen of my DAE tv model?
I have a flash header on my site - nothing crazy, just a short clip. It works in safari and opera on the mac and all IE versions on PC. It will not work properly on firefox on either PC or Mac. Firefox seems to be putting a gap of 10-20px under the flash I have looked up many fixes for this as it seems to be a known problem. I have seen people say it's because the "object" element it treated like letters in FF, so it allows room for the "tails" on a G and Y etc (not sure if I explained that well enough, hopefully you get the idea). I have tried margin:0; padding:0; line-height:0; font-size:0;
float:left; vertical-align:middle; and clear;both; - not at the same time, I have tried many combinations and got most of these ideas from other threads/articles where people had found a solution. I have tried this CSS on an id attached to the object, on the element object and on the parent div - I just can't seem to fix it! Also, as a side note - I've noticed the flash looks good in IE6, IE7 but IE8 makes it looks awful - can anyone explain why or confirm that is what they see? Im a mac user so borrow a laptop to test, it would be good to hear if anyone else see's this problem.
im having problems putting sounds in my flash game....im using flash MX and im making a tile based RPG game ....i got the background music playing in the first map...but when my character enters the second map, the music stops and play all over again in the beginning.....i want the music to be continously playing while the character is on map 1 and map 2...how can i remedy this? im using this simple A.S for the bg music in map 1:

i tried to remove the line stopAllSounds();....as a result, the music became overlapping when the character transfers from one map to another. Also is there any other way to make maps easier?. coz ryt now im using 2-dimensional arrays for my map....i only have two 640x480 maps now and it's starting to get confusing editing them

I have some people making a site that uses PHP and mysql. You will be logging in first to the PHP site, but the Flash based component of it requires to use the same log in and password. Do they have to log in twice??????

The problem is, all (well, the vast majority) of all the players on the internet provide no .FLA file, but just a .SWF and a few others. How am I supposed to put this into the flash site, as there is no flash file to copy and paste the frames into my site?

I have done a search for this but I can't seem to find anything specific to what I am trying to do. I have a Flash CS3 slide presentation which was created at 1024x768 for projection purposes. Now, I have been asked to create a version of the presentation for the web which would need to be much smaller, say 480x360 for example. Changing the document properties is easy enough, but how would I go about scaling all the content down?

I also tried going to the last frame, selecting all and scaling again, but then I have stuff in the middle of the movie that doesn't seem to scale correctly.
