Do you still have to use Flash wrappers like Zinc to be able to save files from a CD using a Flash projector. In the same way you would use Filereference.save?
I've got a DVD style project where I need to be able link to files such as PDFs, JPGs and WMVs giving the user the ability to save these to their local drive.
I have a dressup game or something simillar. is it possible to have flash save what i've done in the game to a jpg or pdf? (i'd rather have a pdf)

I have a service that uses computer webcam via Flash. Now I'd like to develop an Android optimized version of the service using HTML5 + Flash and then use some HTML5 wrapper to get an app.
I wonder if it's possible to use the same ability of Flash that provides an access to user's phone camera (frontal) on the Android (tablet pcs, smart phones). I know Android supports Flash since 2.2, but I failed to find any information on hardware access.
Im trying to build a a small viewer that will allow the user the ability to scroll through a certain number of thumbnails. I'm having trouble on how to go about this. I haven't used flash or actionscript 3 in quite a while so Im pretty rusty when it comes to perspective on how to go about this. I basically want the user to interact with a scroll bar (up and down) to move through a certain number of thumbnail pictures (125 x 125).

I'm wondering if purepdf has the ability to save formatted text from a user-inputted text field. If so, how is this achieved? From what I understand, purepdf is basically iText, and I believe iText has the ability to parse HTML and save formatted text into a PDF. Does purepdf have that same functionality that I can tap into and plug in 'textfield.htmlText' somewhere?

I have it attached to the stage, it traces nn repetitively until i load the jpg, when i load the jpg into it, it loses all of it class properties it seems...it stops the onEnterFrame and the nn is no longer there.
i have coded my first xml gallery, it loads jpgs and swf files.the swf files have each a video component on stage that controls the related FLV file.Testing the gallery locally I had no problem at all, but when uploaded to the server the jpgs works fine while the swf files (containing the videos) keep trhowing this error:
VideoError: 1000: Unable to make connection to server or to find FLV on server

Is it possible to script a flash application to search the local hard disk to display txt files and or jpgs? I would like to be able to enter some text in an input text field then have flash search my hard drive for what i typed into the txt field.

I needto check this file either on the server or within a flash app tosee if it has these references and then grab those images in aflash app to upload to my server.So I can use FileReference easily enough to have users uploadlocal images. But FileReference requires users to select their files with a dialog box. I can't have that. I can also just use URLLoader with a local URL, I guess I canprobably just use Loader too? That works great. So I read through Kirupa's XML/Flash thumbnail gallery tutorial and have since modified some of its actionscripting to display my online design portfolio. How do I make it so that 'LAUNCH PROJECT' is a link? Here is the modified Actionscripting (I have one of each for the 3 sections):

As you can see at the bottom of the actionscript, I added a gotoURL action, hoping that simply by making <launch> read <launch action="gotoURL" variables="http:url...> that it would become a link. I, however, have had no such luck. Perhaps I have to add something more. How do I make it so that <launch></launch> has the ability to link to an URL?
I have a symbol on the stage and under a mask at design time. During the course of events, I add another movieclip to the masked clip already on the stage.This newly-added clip contains yet another clip which contains, among other things, my textfield.So the hierarchy looks like this:
Stage > Masked clip > Clip > Clip with textfield
That textfield's (named 'tf') htmlText property has a standard link, something like <a href="event:http://www.url.com">Click here</a>
After assigning the htmlText, I add the event listener:

However, the link itself doesn't even switch to a hand cursor when the mouse is over it, so forget even hoping the even listener will fire!
If I add the clip directly to the stage, it "works," but adding it there isn't an option. As far as I know, I've ensured that all clips along the way have mouseChildren set to true: I just can't think of why it wouldn't be working as-is. I created a simple test in a new file, and that appeared to work..
I have created a button which swap position after click on it i am giving the swf file in th attachment. now the problem is after inserting it in a movie clip i am unable to give link like getUrl or gotoAndPlay to the button. [code]

You can find the file in the attachment. It's not the site, but it's the datechooser I use as base. I found this code and this is probably the one I need, with a little modifications. The question is: in what place do I have to insert this code and to what object I need to link it? The target is that the user can't select a day in the future.

I got a buggy warning from my flash cs4 project, saying at the compiler errors; warning : unable to load SWC fls ther's no reference to the line/place having this error in location area of compiler errors!! i didn't kow how i got there cause it was working smooth befor this error! strange also,
and since, we are at the new year, you know, ther's the best film of the year, the best site of the year.. why not make a "the strangiest undocumented error of the year!".. anyway, if ther's such a competition, I vote for this error!
I just recently finished the snowflake tutorial and made a very nice movie with some minor tweaks of my own into the coding, and I'm very new to flash (this being the first many experiences with it). I want to create a movie that I can make full screen without the task bar at the top (maybe in windows movie viewer or quicktime), but there is no option to play the movie, only to test. When I export the movie into an AVI files, nothing happens.

When the buttons are on the main timeline everything works perfectly, but I wanted them to be scrollable so I placed them within a MC, still on the main timeline, and now the externals wont load the scrolling and button actions are fine.

View 6 RepliesI need to take a user from a html link to a specific anchor point in the Flash website... that's easy enough. But the problem then is that the site is blank until it has loaded the relevant section. There's a preloader at the start of the whole site, but if a person jumps right in, it appears that nothing's happening for a while -which doesn't look very good- then the page appears. Is there a way to take the user to the first frame so that the preloader does it's bit, and then use the flash vars command to check the link they had come from, and jump then to the relevant section?
View 5 RepliesI have a colleague who is trying to put together a Flash package for me on her macbook pro. It needs to play an flv file. She is unable to play flv files on her computer either in Flash or using the Adobe Media Player. I have no problem playing the same files on my macbook pro, we're both running the latest OS and have version 1.8 of Adobe Media Player. She went to the Adobe site to download the latest version of Adobe Media Player, hoping that might include whatever component is missing on her system. Because of Adobe's decision not to distribute AMP that didn't help.
She has Flash Professional CS5 11.0.2 on her system. When she imports an flv video into a Flash project and tries to play it she gets an error message saying it can't stream the video. Note that the video is on her hard drive, it is NOT on the internet so no streaming should be required. The actual error message is: "the video player is in the connection error state. It enters this state when a video stream attempted to load but was unsuccessful. There are two possible reasons for the error: no connection to the server or the stream was not found." Since it's a file on her hard drive, and she has loaded the file into the Adobe development environment successfully, the one thing we know for certain is that neither of these reasons is correct.
Using flash professional CS5.5 - creating an Air for Android app. It appears you can't deploy any additional files, other than the swf file, In Air debug launcher (mobile) the additional files deploy.But as soon as you deploy it for real on an android machine it fails to install the extra files. (it's a small sqllite file).I have looked in the final APK file using zip and they are there in the assets folder.
