That was supposed to be my first preloader dealing with an XML file and external jpgs ... searched the forum, found something that looked/sounded like it would work, tried to adapt it to my particular situation and ... (surprise!) ... it doesn't work. Let me add at this point that I'd consider myself a "very casual" ActionScripter (if there is such a thing), meaning that most of the time, I try to learn as I go along, without any *real* background knowledge. Here's my situation - methinks it's rather straightforward: SWF file (project.swf), XML file (config.xml) and a bunch of jpgs all in the same directory - nothing exotic so far. Here's the AS I (try to) use in my SWF file to load the xml and the imgs therein:
I am having trouble with classes and loading external files, specifically .jpgs.I have a simple class, that looks like this,
Code: dynamic class test extends MovieClip { var nn; function test() {[code]....
I have it attached to the stage, it traces nn repetitively until i load the jpg, when i load the jpg into it, it loses all of it class properties it seems...it stops the onEnterFrame and the nn is no longer there.
I bought the biblia of the 2 and I still not seen nothing on a subject so far, I was knowing that in flash MX 2004, it obtains to pull external images png files, somebody knows as to make this?
Is it possible to script a flash application to search the local hard disk to display txt files and or jpgs? I would like to be able to enter some text in an input text field then have flash search my hard drive for what i typed into the txt field.
Do you still have to use Flash wrappers like Zinc to be able to save files from a CD using a Flash projector. In the same way you would use Filereference.save?
I've got a DVD style project where I need to be able link to files such as PDFs, JPGs and WMVs giving the user the ability to save these to their local drive.
I am building a portfolio disk with the awesome photo gallery AS from here. This will be run from a cd and I want to preload the images in the arrays to keep everything smoooooth. I am building on current machine. When I tested a disc image on an older machine the transitions were slooooow. I figure preloading would defeat this. Is there AS to accomplish this or is it something simple like hiding the images somewhere on the timeline and using a normal preloader?
I have an array of image width values pulled from XML. I want to simply look at the array and return a value that is equal to the highest number in the array. e.g. the array might end up like array [250,600,350,375]and I just want something that returns the highest value (in this case the 600).
I have a list of functions inside an array.I want to pull out the names of these functions as they are written in the array, and display them through the trace.Easy? All I get is a 'type function' ...from what I thought would be as simple as this:::
Code: var func_ary:Array = new Array(doThis, StartMe, etc); trace(String(func_ary[2]));
I have a bit of code here that pulls, at random, 50 images from a file and pushes them into an array. I now need to pull, at random, 350 times from the array. I'm using a timer in place of the for loop to grab the images from the array. My code works fine as long as I do not use an array and I loop the images straight from the file. But that's very slow and bad form. I think I can do everything except the .load of the array. I can't seem to make it work. I'm getting errors that say "#1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference" or "1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Array to an unrelated type flash.net:URLRequest". I think I get the point of these messages, but I cannot seem to figure out how to pull the URLRequests back out of the array.
var imgLoader:Loader; var imgSource:URLRequest; var imgArrayer:Array = new Array();[code]......
I have an array which contains 3 Movieclips. I would like to Randomly select 2 of these Movieclips (and them not be the same Movieclips).Then I would like to pass those 2 Movieclips into a function that is setup to receive them as arguments. I'm lost and am not having success trying to concatenate the Movieclips with [i].
I am trying to load a couple of .jpg files by getting array data from .txt file. I searched this forum and found some code bits I could use. When I tested the file, getting array part seems to work fine (I get output for tracing), but nothing loads onto movie clips.
Here is the code: var dataArray:Array var dataLVs = new LoadVars(); dataLVs.load("vars/imgName.txt"); dataLVs.onLoad = function(success){ if (success){ [Code] .....
i am trying to pull out a random movieclip from the library and use "addChild" to add it to another movieclip on stage by using an array.basically, i need to be able to create an array that has all the names of the movieclips i want to randomly pull out... and then randomly select a name from that array so i can use it to get the movieclip out.i cant seem to be able to tell flash that the name in the array is referring to a movieclip in the library.which is why the code below returns an error..[code]
I have an array with 20 elements and a shuffle function applied. Now i need to screen only 4 elements from that, which then should be deleted from the array in order to avoid repetition (next play will pick other 4 images and so on) Anyone knows if there a class i can use?
ActionScript Code: function processXML(e:Event):void { var my_xml:XML=new XML(e.target.data); my_speed=my_xml.@SPEED;
I have a sprite loaded as an array, and that array has an event listener for a function. say that function is called funct1. in funct1, i want to be able to grab the index of the array and load it into a variable for future functions and what not. how would i go about this?
I have six movieclip images ( nested in the movieclip "mainInsight") in an array. I am using event.currentTarget to trigger MouseEvent.CLICK event that reacts to a parallel array. The parallel array, uses current Labels, to go to the frame labels in the main movieclip "mainInsight". It's supposed to scale up the image that is clicked, by gouing to a certain label with tween functions, and scale down the others. My current code returns this error:
ArgumentError: Error #2109: Frame label TheCompetition not found in scene Scene 1. at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndStop() at tweenTestFinalTwo_fla::MainTimeline/clickHandler()

I created a swf which loads multiple external swfs to 100% before playing. Which works fine. If I stop a clip while it's loading, I call loader.close() and I'm able to resume from where I left off at a later time. The problem I'm having is when I added the functionality to load the next clip while the current clip is playing. To be clear, I'll refer to the normal preloader as preloader, and the preloader which loads the next clip as pre-preloader. If the pre-preloader loads to 100%, everything is good. The next clip will play immediately without having to wait. If, however, the pre-preloader for the next clip is stopped at any point before 100%, the preloader will start loading at 0%.
With that being said, If I go back to the previous clip (which was previously already playing), the pre-preloader will pick back up where it left off, then if I go forward again, the preloader will pick up where IT left off.
I am able to get the Flash preloader working with say an image like JPG but when I attempt to have the preloader load a video it doesn't work. I read that in order to use a FLV file it needs to be embedded into a SWF file so preloader can work with it. One issue with embedding the FLV file into the SWF is the sound does not match up with video after that conversion which can kinda be fixed by changing the FPS. Needless to say I have not been able to get this working correctly. I am not sure if there is a work around for this issue.
I'm working with the following in Flash 8:1. A main SWF movie with 7 scenes and 1 scene is called Audio On the Audio scene I am loading 11 swf files for the individual songs in buttons.2. An SWF bunch of SWFs over 1mb each which are 30 sec mps songs, However, I need to get a preloader for each of the external swfs. Attached is a link to a preloader example I found and started to modify. [URL]Button Action Script
on (press) { stopAllSounds(); } on (release) { Sound; }
I am just trying to get the preloader to work with the home scene of the movie.The problem I have is the song buttons don't all appear on the home scene so I can't figure out why the preloader isn't loading everything then goes to the home scene..
I'm using this code for my preLoader:[code]And it works fine as a preLoader in that it adds the animation and counts up the percent of the swf that's loaded but only for the images on my stage. My code calls in some external mp3 files and I want the preLoader to wait until the external files are loaded too.[code]S'all pretty straight forward, I just want to make the preLoader wait until the mp3 files are loaded too.
I'm trying to add a preloader to external .swf files that will load into main site but when I test movie I get this:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference
I broke it into about 8 parts. 1 being the "mainSWF". This one loads up, and has a preloaded on Frame 1. Once this is loaded, you get to a certain page, and it loads the first external SWF, inside of this one. This SWF still uses the backgrounds, of the "MainSWF". And when you get to the end of this SWF, it sends a "dispatchEvent" to trigger a function that unloads the current SWF, and loads the appropriate new one. THIS ALL WORKS!
What I am looking to happen, is have a preloader to load the these external SWF's. (Like I have on frame 1 of the "MainSWF".
I would like to have them on the first frame of each external SWF, simply because the first frame is a good frame to sit on while the loader happens. ANd the first frame of each External SWF is different. My MainSWF preloaded is working great, and its code looks like this[code]...
