I would like to create a div overlay over videos in a html page. (Google Ads in YouTube). The videos could be embedded YouTube videos, or from any other source. Any ideas on how to do this? I have done a similar task of overlaying divs on images but never did for videos.
View 2 RepliesIs there a generic way, preferably in Javascript but flash would be okay, I guess, to put an overlay on top of full-screen flash video without editing the video player?The particular use case is that I'd like to add growl-like notifications to some live streaming stuff without writing a lot of AS that ties me to a specific player. It seems that most of the players would not allow this anyway.

The script opens a flash swf file in a "popup" lightbox fashion and plays it either from youtube or via a player locally.I was however wondering if it was possible to create a secondary swf to float on top of the player (noting that this of course would have the wmode:"transparent") and hereby create an opening curtain effect revealing the first swf and the player. I've been trying for quite some time now to load the top clip via createSWF and to create an additional div to contain it and float it using absolute position however I can't seem to get it right.. What I really want to know is what is the most mainstream method of creating a slideshow on a website.What do you recommend?So far I've seen Jquery, Javascript, CSS & DHTML, and Flash. The game is a simple Flash/AS3 shooter in which users are competing for the highest score. For monetary reasons every game costs one life and users should only be able to start a new game, if said life counter is >=1. I'm having great problems getting Javascript to resume a flash file.The flash file loads up and the video is set to autoplay false. For some reason, any Javascript is not recognising the AS3 function. It keeps saying the function is undefined. e.g.

The problem is FlexPlayer.swf is loading every time and I need to cache this SWF file. Maybe I should use Javascript constructor but don't know how in this case.
I'm creating a video gallery and i have some issues because i'm new ot action script.I have a gallery.swf which loads into main swf. this gallery has thumbnails that link to the video.So the issu is the following:When i roll over the thumbnails, I would like to show the name and the description of the video and if i click on it, it should load the video.I was wondering if there is a way to do this dynamically with xml instead of working on every thumbnail button ans linking it to its video.

I have used a few of the wizards and have gotten some rough, very amateurish looking results, but at least they work. I've divided this project into two parts: a.) dynamically generate an XML feed from the data using PHP (using an ID number passed in the URL's query string), and b.) be able to work with it in Flash. I've got the first part working, but am pretty lost in Flash. I can parse the XML, but I'm not sure how to set the data up as variables and attach it to a video's cue points.

I understand how to get the cue points in, but most people only seem to want to handle the cue point events within Flash. I want to use Javascript to display a different text in a page element at each point. Does the method vary depending on what player you're using? How about when it's the standard Flash playback component? Does there need to be any special Actionscript in the SWF containing the FLV?

I have an AJAX web service call that returns a chunk of HTML that I then apply to a DIV element on my page.This works fine for any html element except a flash video which comes up with 'Movie not loaded'.I've double-checked the html that is being returned and it's all fine, and it works if I don't use AJAX, but when I use AJAX and then add it using JS it doesn't seem to attempt to load the playlist.
