View 1 Replies- i have 3 separate movie clips (a,b,c)
- my main movie is (a) and when i click a button there, it will go to external movie (b)
- under external movie (b) there's a movie clip that includes my animation and content button
- if i click on the content button on movie (b), external movie (c) will pop up [ it will not replace movie (b) but will just overlap it, it's like a small pop up ]
i did the actionscript and when i'm testing external movie (b), it's working... it's showing/popping up movie (c) but when i tried it on the main movie (a), the movie (c) is not popping on the (b) err, sorry if it's a bit confusing / how i explained it. but hopefully somebody will get the idea. and it won't also return on the main movie (a) when i click on a link from the external movie.
I have a html page that has a link, which links to another html page with a flash file on. What i need is when this flash page is accessed i need a new movie to load, which would usually load from the navigation when someone clicks on a button.Is there anyway to link to a page which then loads a new movie into the main movie. can this be done???
View 10 RepliesWhen importing external swf's, would it be better to have the preloader code in the external swf or in the main movie? I've seen threads about this everywhere but I don't see the difference. Once the movie pops in it starts preloading right? Is there a faster result when the preloader is in the main movie?
View 2 Repliesi would like to have a preloader run in a movie clip rather than in the main scene...http:[url]....i have followed this tutorial exact and it works when i create it on the main scene,but the loading bar and text doesnt work when i build it in a movie clip.
View 6 RepliesI need a preloader to include an external .swf (iPhone_334x500.swf) that is dynamically added later in the timeline. Currently, the preloader goes to 100% and then begins to load the external swf before completing and going to frame 2. Rather than just appear to sit at 100% for 20 secs while it is still loading my external swf, I would like to include the external swf's load time in the preloader data.
This is my "preloader" code on frame 1, which is empty except for the AS. (Just a basic bar and percent preloader.) I included all of my code just in case, so please ignore the font embedding and masking if it makes it easier.
[Code]....
I'm in need of a preloader, (or easy tutorial on how to create one), that will run a progress bar and also play a short welcome animation all the way through... regardless of connection speed. One that checks total frames of mc against total bytes loaded or something.
View 5 RepliesI want to link a button in my main timeline to a label- frame in a movie clip. The movie clip is called "Adetail" and the label is "on01"... I type in the following script

I wrote this AS for my preloader which schould be able to load a movie clip after pressing a specif button in the main sceene:
[Code]....
1) The problem is that to be able to target a movieclip I will need to give it a instance name. Where can i find this function in MX ?
2) I cannot understant how I schoul put a loadBar being a small movieclip on the main timeline, I think( the same timeline the container clip is at ) or maybe not ? well I am bit confused now..
Well I have done already a sceene preloader for my site and it works perfectly and i did not experience any problems as Im having now with this new kind of preloader.
I am literally at the end of my wick with this one! Here's the skinny, so to speak:
home.swf
products.swf
button line mc
[code]........
I have this Preloader movie clip on one scene called "preloader" then i have content on the second scene called "main".The preloader works fine, its just that once it is loaded somehow it doesnt go to the "main" scene.This is the AS on the preloader MClip ::
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
loaded = _root.getBytesLoaded();
total = _root.getBytesTotal();[code].....
I can get by and make nice flash sites, but I'm still learning what goes where and am still borrowing code to get by.I've laid the problem out in some detail as I am sure that will save a lot of questions later on, but feel free to ask if you want more info.Problem is as follows: I've built a two scene flash site using open source code for the preloader scene:[code]The main scrolling menu scene works great when it's a one scene movie and the preloader code works fine with a load of other sites I've built, but when I put them together on this site (the code for the scrolling menu precludes the addition of a preloader directly into that scene so separate scenes are a necessity) everything goes to pot.When testing the site (both as a standalone SWF file and when embedded in an HTML file) the preloader works fine and the main scene appears correctly, but when you click on any button to move back or forth along the menu/timeline it jumps and jerks along very roughly and stops short of its designated point.
This causes the whole scene to fail as the designated timeframe for each button contains a movie instance that won't function until the specific timeframe is reached.It's odd behavior and I'm stumped as both chunks of code work fine separately.I've even tried a much simpler preloader that doesn't display percentage or anything, it just cycles between frame one and two until the movie loads and then plays it (just like this one, but with no bells or whistles).Unfortunately my lack of actionscript knowledge prevents me from even finding a simple term to sum up the problem so I've failed to find any similar issues on any forums or Google.
I want to load six seperate .swf's into the main movie while the main movie loads too. So in simpler words, i want to be able to load all of the swf's the same time i am loading the main swf.
View 2 RepliesI've set of drop down menu which I build in Movie Clip. Things work well and the sub menu working properly. But my problem is how do I want to linking it each of the menu and subs. The problem is, all my frame and everything is inside the Movie Clip and my content of the website is outside the Movie Clip. So, how I want to navigate the button.
View 1 Repliesusing the command:
loadMovie(_root.section, _root.content);how would i work in a preloader bar?? add one to the file that is loaded into the main movie or on my main movie that is loading the file?
I have just started to work in AS3 and stuck in a problem. I have created a fla document named main.fla I have defined the document class as Main which is attached. The problem is preloader shows only when the file is completely loaded. How can I appear the progress preloader for the main file.
View 4 RepliesI have been trying to figure out the following:
main.swf - contains my photo gallery application
preloader.swf - loads the main.swf file and on COMPLETE event displays it
At the moment the gallery list is in the XML file and the XML file is loaded from the main.swf file. However, as the XML file will grow, I want to preload the XML file along with main.swf file in the preloader.swf and then pass the XML data to the main.swf file so that main.swf file can use this XML data and can create the galleries from there. I am using AS3 Project in Flex Builder 3.
i want to link a submit button in a movie clip to the main timeline, any ideas of how to do it?
View 15 RepliesI have a file with 4 movieclips on the main timeline. 2 of the clips (home_btn, benefits_btn) are used as buttons with rollovers, submenu, etc. The other 2 clips (home_mc, benefits_mc) are basic content. What I've been trying to do for a couple days now is to link from a submenu button (benCor1_btn, not a mc btn) inside benefits_btn to a frame label inside a mc (benefits_mc, "b1"). I've attached my FLA file for some to look at my code and tell what the heck I'm doing wrong.
View 4 RepliesCan i open a new swf file loading video from my Main swf File? I would like to put a link in the main swf file and when it will click i wanted to open a new swf file playing video in the another window.
View 7 RepliesI have a scrollPane on my Stage and I have it linked to a movieClip containing a series of images that have been converted to buttons. Everything works fine, except I can't seem to figure out how to get the buttons to link to the main timeline. All I want is them to gotoAndPlay ("frameLableOnTheMainTimeline"). (I am using AS3)I tried a standard on Click eventListener, but am unsure of the syntax to make it go back to a specific frame on the main timeline.
View 6 RepliesI have a main fla, which has some buttons on the stage. When you click on a button an external swf loads(using loadMovie method) inside container_mc which is an empty movieclip.
On that specific external swf, I have created an empty movieclip called content_mc which also loads external swfs.
Is it possible to call the content_mc from the main fla? For example when clicking a button of the main fla, how can I point to content_mc which is part of the external swf?
I created "symbol1" movie clip. And I have dynamic text "myscore" on the main stage.
I have this code inside of "symbol1".
mybutton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, b1);
function b1(event:MouseEvent):void {
myscore.text = "30";
}
And it gives me this error. (1120: Access of undefined property myscore.)
It works only when text and actionscript inside of the same symbol. I tried like this root.myscore.text = "30"; but it still doesn't work.
I have 2 files. I loaded img.swf to the main file and try to make preloader in main.fla file.
But after compile i get error: 1084: Syntax error: expecting identifier before modulus.
Code:
var req:URLRequest=new URLRequest("img.swf");
var myLoader:Loader=new Loader ;
function imgFileLoaded(event:Event):void {

I'm using the sample external preloader file supplied with CS5 as the basis for my customised pre-loader. It's working fine except that once the main site has loaded and is open, the preloader remains loaded in the background.[code]...
View 7 RepliesI'm using a preloader SWF to load my content SWF and XML file, and when the COMPLETE event fires I'm using the following code to send my XML data to the content SWF -ActionScript Code:evt.target.content.sendXML(XMLData);I then have a sendXML function in the content SWF that picks up the data.This works - but I can't access XMLData right away (it's null if I trace it). But if I set up a timer with a tiny delay which then checks XMLData, the information is there.It seems to be a bit of a dumb way to do things. Has anoyone else got a better solution or a way that will allow access to the variable right away?
View 3 RepliesI need to preload 2 external .swfs, one containing animation and one containing sound, and I need them to start playing at the same time. As of now I have a general preloader on the main timeline, but as you might expect, after the preloader finishes, there is a lag while the .swf's are being loaded. I thought everything was solved, until a friend of mine looked at it in dial-up, and the preloader just kept looping 10 times before the animation started, so now I'm starting over. Part of my complication I believe is that I'm using loadMovieNum into levels as opposed to loading the external .swf's in a separate container MC (that's what I've noticed most people recommend for this problem), but I tried doing that technique several times with no luck. Right now my main movie, index.fla, has a preloader MC in the first frame, with this AS attached to the clip:
Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
loading = _parent.getBytesLoaded();
total = _parent.getBytesTotal();
percent -= (percent-((loading/total)*100))*.25;
per = int(percent);
[Code] .....
The clip contains a loadbar, static text (which just says 'Loading'), dynamic text (which tells the percentage), and a 'stop' in the actions layer. In the actions layer within my main movie, there is a 'stop' on the first frame as well. On the second frame, there is this AS:
Code:
var audioOn = false;
loadMovieNum("musicfile.swf", 1);
loadMovieNum("1movie.swf", 2);
stop();
In order that the animation and music starts at the same time, within my animation .swf (1movie.swf), I have this AS on the first frame of the actions layer:
Code:
if (_level0.audioOn == true) {
gotoAndPlay(2);
}
Within my musicfile.swf, there is this AS on the second frame of the mp3:
Code:
_level0.audioOn = true;
My main objective is to be able to use my preloader to preload both of these .swf's concurrently in my main movie so that they may start at the same time.
I have a main swf loads a serveral swf's from the menu.how can i use the main preloader to loads the external swf's ?
View 4 RepliesI have an External Swf with its own Preloader that is loaded into my Main swf,It works fine when i am testing it in Macromedia Flash 8 However when i upload all of it to my site and i click the button that loads the External swf in to my main swf it loads the hole main swf again and not the external swf. (NOTE i load the external swf into a MC ''myContainer2'' on the main swf) Here are my codes:
External Preloader
onClipEvent (enterFrame)
{
percent = Math.floor(_root.getBytesLoaded() / _root.getBytesTotal() * 100);
gotoAndPlay(percent);
[code]....
I have some buttons in my main movie.I want each button to link to a different frame of an external movie. Is this possible?
