Media Server :: NetStream.Play.Stop And Complete Fired Early On RTMPE Streams
Oct 20, 2011
I am experiencing an issue with playback on RTMPE streams. after investigation it seems that the FMS server is firing the NetStream.Play.Complete message at random points, indicating that a stream has ended. This is happening and random points during the stream, not even close to the end.[code]As you can see roughly 17mins into playback...although the stream is 1 hour 24mins long.I have tested this numerous times, and each time it is at a different point in the stream.Intermittently the NetStream.Play.InsufficientBW warning is being fired prior to NetStream.Play.Stop.I am using a player built on OSMF 1.5

Is anyone having trouble with Chrome getting NetStream.Play.Stop early in Chrome? Seems to fire around the time the buffer has filled. Same code is and has been working fine in all other browsers for some time.

I'm streaming mp3 on flash media server 3.5 on linux version, and very often come accross with that problem, when the buffer.length become 0 on client side, the streaming will stop with NetStream.Play.Stop event, and will not be continued. I think this case it should wait always till the data arrives and never should stopping. Some more info : I tested on applications/live folder, and the mp3 files are created dynamically during the playing, and the creation speed is almost the same like the playing speed, so those are not fix files.

When my streaming videos finish, the following error is triggered:"NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound"I want to be able to re-play the videoor scrub back, but the stream is unusable after that error.I've tested against a few different streams - here is one:

I own a site like ustream/justin where users can register and broadcast their channels using FMLE. Sometime I need to ban broadcasters after I receives any complaint against any channel. I do them on website, there is no issue in that. But how to do that on server side at FMIS. I need to do it bcause the stream users are already watching the channel page before it got banned, they still can watch it till they do the refresh. So I need something that can stop the Live Stream of that particular channel on FMS server too. How can I supply stream names to main.asc that should be banned or not to allow publishing without restarting server each time.

When i publish the streams on a linux server, the .flv files have permissions like this:-rw-rw----. And i don't have permissions to access this file on a client browser... Currently, i can only change the permission using "chmod" manually

I need to be able to play any stream published to our FMS application, without connecting to the application as regular users do. I am an administrator and the service is ours. Can I do so using Administration API, for instance? I sure can get the list of the streams, but I have not found a way to stream these as video yet. I am building an application not unlike Admin. console, but with more functions that we need. If Admin. console seems to be able to play streams, it must be possible?

My Purpose is to record live streams on server side and play recorded files later. What I have done is -
1. Copied All files of applications/live in some safe location.
2. Copied all files from samples/applications/live to applications/live folder. (Deleted main.far from live folder)
3. Restricted SWF and HTML to mydomain in these files - allowedHTMLdomains.txt and allowedSWFdomains.txt
4. In main.asc I added these line in the end
var mystream;var intervalID;
[Code] .....
5. Then I restarted FMS and tried streaming using FLash Media Encoder. I was able to live stream and then i stopped it.
6. A FLV File was recorded in application/live folder with the stream name that i used in encoder.
I am able to view live video on my domain as well as some other domain, that means allowedHTMLdomains.txt and allowedSWFdomains.txt did not worked. Another issue is that I am not able to view recorded video after I stopped encoder but I was able see live video before stopping. I am using jwplayer to view the video and using flashvars streamer (rtmp://xx.xx.xx.xxx/live) and file(abc) to view the live and recorded video.

I got a bunch of live stream from FMLE, say: "FMLE_channel1", "FMLE_channel2", "FMLE_channel3". And then on the server side, I created several corresponding republished stream called "channel1", "channel2", "channel3".
On periodical basis, we call Stream.get("channel1").play("FMLE_channel1", -1, 10, true) every 10 seconds. Similar things were done on the second channel & third channel.Soon after the above Stream.get("channel1").play() call, I should get the following events in sequence:info :NetStream.Unpublish.Successinfo :NetStream.Publish.Startinfo :NetStream.Play.Resetinfo :NetStream.Play.Start In the above case all are happy. Clients can view channel1, channel2, channel3 well.But then after a while, one of the three channels, in most case it would be channel1, will not be viewable.
With the server trace info, I found that after the Stream.get("channel1").play() call, only the following two events exists:
info :NetStream.Unpublish.Successinfo :NetStream.Publish.Starti.e. I was missing the play.reset and play.start event.I further checked and confirmed that the FMLE was publishing all three channels fine to the server. I was able to view the "FMLE_channel1" from flash clients, but not the republished "channel1". the version is FMS 3.5.0.

I am streaming pre recorded audio files (mp4) to an AIR client. I have tried two different solutions,
streaming the file directly with the NetStream.play("mp4:xxxxx.m4a") and creating a server side playlist, adding the same sound clip and then streaming the playlist. The problem is, when streaming the playlist i get a few NetStream.Play.InsufficientBW, this does not happen when streaming the file direct. Both solutions uses bufferTime=1.0
I would like to use a server side playlist to implement a simple key solution so that the client dont know the full path to the file, but instead sends a key to a custom server side function that looks up the file path and creates a stream for the client.

I'm recording audio using FMIS, the file is being saved out as a FLV file and I am able to play it back. Eventually that file may be deleted after some time and I would like to notify the user if the file is no longer available. I was expecting to see NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound after deleting the file on the server but I'm not getting that message. Instead I get:
--> NetStream.Play.Reset--> NetStream.Play.StartAnd nothing plays which is expected since the file is deleted, but I dont get the right message. I'm calling the file like so:ns.play ("flv:file_to_stream");

I would like to have the possibility to detect when NetStream is not working (i.e. the name used in initialization can't be found on the server side). The StreamNotFound doesn't work at all. I've read that it's the fault of the Flash Media Server, which automaticaly creates new stream, if it cannot be found (of course it's an empty stream - what is wrong from my point of view). Is it true? If yes, can I disable it on the server side, so I could easily detect if the stream name is correct?

I have a setup where I have some edge servers (as in <Mode>remote</Mode>) that pull content from an origin server. I only want to allow RTMPE connections to the edge server. I'm trying to do this by using the <DisallowedProtocols> element on the origin server. I'm setting: <DisallowedProtocols>rtmp,rtmps,rtmpt</DisallowedProtocols>
in the relevant Vhost.xml on the origin server. However, when I do that, proxying through the edge server stops working. I get a "Connection attempt rejected by FMS server [ Server.Reject ] : Connection failed." from OSMFPlayer (which I'm using for testing) and these lines show up on the origin server's core.00.log file:

NetStream.play(streamName, -1); This seems to be working wrong.if I have recorded an flv on server using FMS and FMLE with only audio with name "myaudio" and then after if I try to play a live stream using NetStream.play("myaudio", -1) then it plays the recorded stream. I believe that documentation says that it should start a live stream instead of playing recorded stream as the second argument is -1. Is this a bug in NetStream.play method?

I have an intermittant problem with FLV playback. I am using FMS 3.0.1r123 and FLVPlayback component to play RTMP streams that have been recorded using a webcam via RTMP. Maybe 1 in 10 recordings will not play back the last couple of seconds of the movie. A day or two later they are fine and play completely! I have made some tests;
1. Using Video object instead makes no difference (it seems the Event.COMPLETE message arrives early)
2. Using HTTP playback fixes the problem (but I want to try and keep the RTMP playback if possible though but I guess this is one way out)
3. The duration before the movies plays back properly seems to vary but is always at least 24 hours later (is that weird or what?)
4. Seeking past the 'end' will play the last couple of seconds.
5. The metadata duration reported at the start is correct (but how can you force FLVPlayback to use this length?)

I'm hoping there's a simple answer to this. I'm attempting to stream a live event using FMLE and FMS. The first thing that throws me off is that I cannot push the stream to the server using RTMPE, only RTMP[T]. I assume this is because the the encryption is handled by the server and not the encoder. However, for the sake of security I would like to disable RTMP connections from the flash player to the server. Yet it would seem that if I incorporate the server side scripting described here [URL] (namely the changes to my main.asc file), that my server would reject an RTMP connection from FMLE? Is that correct? If so, where do I go from here? Can I broadcast a live stream using RTMPE only? Do I need a different encoder or something, or am I just missing a very simple point?

I have a series of mp4 videos (H.236 @ 22 fps) streaming from an akamai FMS serve via RTMP protocol in flash player 9+ with AS 3.My goal is to create client side playlists that smoothly switch from one stream to another. I am creating these playlists using a series of netStream. play (filename,start,len) methods. If I don't use an offset for the start parameter, then the stream switches smoothly from one video to the next with not noticeable jump or jerkiness. However if I introduce a start offset, say a few seconds in, I start to see a quick little hiccup or pause between the seams as it switches from one playlist stream to the next.

I want to record a stream which is published with Flash Live Encoder to FMS 3.5, but split the recording in files with predefined length. For example if a stream 'webcam' is published I want to record it in chunks of 10 minutes: 'webcam1.flv', 'webcam2.flv' ... From what I can tell there's no facility to work with timers. The only solution I could think of was using stream.record() with a time limit parameter but that seems like a hack because it triggerstStream.Record.DiskQuotaExceeded on the stream when the recordin should stop and start recording another chunk. Has anyone done something similar?

_connection.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler);
_connection.connect(null);[code].....

Hoped this would ave been fixed in as3 but this event does not always get triggered. Seems to be related to the encode. Anyways I would like to see others approach to this issue.
Currently I have place a condition in the NetStream.Play.Stop event to check if the ns.time is > the duration-1;
[as]
if (ns.time > duration-1){
playing = "complete";
}
[as]
I have noticed this does even work consistantly unless I change it to ns.time > duration-2.

We've upgraded our production servers to 3.5.3 on Windows 2008, and now I'm seeing a lot of "NetStream.Play.InsufficientBW" statuses in our client app's log The server is streaming a very low bandwidth live video/audio stream, and the client has more than plenty of bandwidth to play it The stream doesn't exhibit any audio drops or skipped frames, and there are no message drops on the server side We have had clients complaining of random disconnects. Does anyone know why I might be getting this message
